Hadith #6889
Judgments (Ahkaam) · Narrated by Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakra عبد الرحمن بن أبي بكرة · Sahih

Abu Bakra wrote to his son who was in Sijistan: ‘Do not judge between two persons when you are angry, for I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, “A judge should not judge between two persons while he is in an angry mood.”

the Messenger of Allah gave him some sheep to distribute among his Companions. A small goat was left over and he mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah. He said: “Sacrifice it yourself.”

“The people asked ‘Abdullah too many questions one day, and ‘Abdullah said: ‘There was a time when we did not pass so many judgments, but now that time is over. Now Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has decreed that we reach a time when, as you see, (we are asked to pass many judgments). Whoever among you is asked to pass a judgment after this day, let him pass judgment according to what is in the Book of Allah. If he is faced with a matter that is not mentioned in the Book of Allah, let him pass judgment according to the way His Prophet passed judgment. If he is faced with a matter that is not mentioned in the Book of Allah and concerning which His Prophet did not pass judgment, then let him pass judgment according to the way the righteous passed judgment. If he is faced with a matter that is not mentioned in the Book of Allah, and concerning which His Prophet and the righteous did not pass judgment, then let him strive to work it out, and let him not say ‘I am afraid, I am afraid.’ For that which is lawful is clear and that which is unlawful is clear, and between them are matters which are not as clear. Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt.'”

A woman who had committed Zina was brought to the Prophet called for a bunch of palm leaves and hit him. He took pity on him because of his disability and was lenient with him.

Aban ibn Uthman said: I heard Uthman ibn Affan (his father) say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: If anyone says three times: “In the name of Allah, when Whose name is mentioned nothing on Earth or in Heaven can cause harm, and He is the Hearer, the Knower” he will not suffer sudden affliction till the morning, and if anyone says this in the morning, he will not suffer sudden affliction till the evening. Aban was afflicted by some paralysis and when a man who heard the tradition began to look at him, he said to him: Why are you looking at me? I swear by Allah, I did not tell a lie about Uthman, nor did Uthman tell a lie about the Prophet (ﷺ), but that day when I was afflicted by it, I became angry and forgot to say them.

“Go and judge between the people.” So he said: “Perhaps you can excuse me (from that) O Commander of the Believers!” He said: “Why do you have an aversion for that when your father judged?” He said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah saying: ‘Whoever was a judge and judged with justice, it still would have been better for him to have turned away from it completely.’ What do I want after that?'” (Daif).

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Of these beasts there are some that are as wild as wild animals. So if one of them does this, then treat it similarly.'”

“Allah restrained me with something that I heard from the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w). When Kisra was destroyed, he said: ‘Who did they have to succeed him?’ They said: ‘His daughter.’ So the Prophet(s.a.w) said: ‘A people will never succeed who give their leadership to a woman.'” He said: “So when ‘Aishah arrived – meaning in Al-Basrah – I remembered the saying of Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), so Allah restrained me by it.” Abu Eisa said: This Hadith is Sahih.
