A person asked Ibn `Abbas, “Have you ever presented yourself at the (`Id) prayer with Allah’s Apostle?” He replied, “Yes.” And had it not been for my kinship (position) with the Prophet (ﷺ) it would not have been possible for me to do so (for he was too young). The Prophet (ﷺ) went to the mark near the house of Kathir bin As-Salt and delivered a sermon. He then went towards the women. He advised and reminded them and asked them to give alms. So the woman would bring her hand near her neck and take off her necklace and put it in the garment of Bilal. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) and Bilal came to the house.”
Ibn `Abbas was asked whether he had joined the Prophet (ﷺ) in the `Id prayer. He said, “Yes. And I could not have joined him had I not been young. (The Prophet (ﷺ) came out) till he reached the mark which was near the house of Kathir bin As-Salt, offered the prayer, delivered the Khutba and then went towards the women. Bilal was accompanying him. He preached to them and advised them and ordered them to give alms. I saw the women putting their ornaments with their outstretched hands into Bilal’s garment. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) along with Bilal returned home.
“Whoever would like to meet Allah tomorrow as a Muslim, let him regularly attend these five (daily) prayers whenever the call for them is given (that in the mosques), for Allah prescribed for His Prophet the ways of guidance, and they (the prayers) are part of those ways of guidance. I do not think that there is anyone among you who does not have a place where he prays in his house. But if you were to pray in your houses and forsake the Masjids, you would be forsaking the Sunnah of your Prophet, and if you were to forsake the Sunnah of your Prophet you would go astray. There is no Muslim slave who performs Wudu and does it well, then walks to the prayer, but Allah will record one Hasanah (good deed) for each step he takes, or raise’ him one level by it or erase one sin from him. I remember how we used to take short steps, and I remember (a time) when no one stayed behind from the prayer except a hypocrite whose hypocrisy was well known. And I have seen a man coming Supported by two others until he would be made to stand in the row.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) addressed us on the day of An-Nahr after the prayer, then he said: ‘Whoever prays and offers the sacrifice as we do, his ritual is complete, and whoever offers the sacrifice before the prayer, that is just ordinary meat.’ Abu Burdah bin Niyar said: ‘O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), by Allah, we offered the sacrifice before I came out to the prayer, because I knew that today is the day of eating and drinking, so I hastened to do it and I ate of it and fed it to my family and neighbors.’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘That is just a sheep for meat.’ He said: ‘I have a jadha’ah that is better than two meaty sheep, will that be sufficient (as a sacrifice) for me?’ He said: ‘Yes, but it will not be sufficient for anyone after you.'”
“A man asked ‘Ali” Did the Messenger of Allah used to tell you anything in secret that he did not tell the people?’ Ali got so angry that his face turned red, and he said: ‘He used not to tell me anything in secret that he di8d not tell the people except that he told me four things when he and I were alone in the house. He said: Allah curses the alone who curses his father, Allah curses the one who offers a sacrifice to anyone other than Allah, Allah curse the one who gives refuge to an offender and Allah curses the one who changes boundary markers.”” (Sahih )
the Messenger of Allah forbade eating the meat of sacrificial animals after three days” (Sahih )
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had himself cupped when he was fasting and wearing ihram (pilgrim garb).
“After the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had died, Abu Bakr said to ‘Umar: ‘Let us go and visit Umm Ayman as the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to visit her.’ He said: ‘When we reached her she wept.’ They said: ‘Why are you weeping? What is with Allah is better for His Messenger.’ She said: ‘I know that what is with Allah is better for His Messenger, but I am weeping because the Revelation from heaven has ceased.’ She moved them to tears and they started to weep with her.”
“Do not keep looking at those who have leprosy.”
“O Messenger of Allah! Should we bow to one another?” He said: “No.” We said: “Should we embrace one another?” He said: “No, but shake hands with one another.”
