Sahih Muslim — The Book of Fasting

I went out and was fasting; they said to me: Break (lit. go back, repeat). He said that Anas reported that the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to set out on a journey and neither the observer of the fast found fault with the breaker of the fast, nor the breaker of the fast found fault with the observer of the fast. (One of the narrators Humaid said): I met Ibn Abi Mulaika who informed me the same thing on the authority of ‘A’isha.

“I prayed Zuhr with the Prophet (ﷺ) in Al-Madinah, four Rak’ahs and ‘Asr in Dhul-Hulaifah, two Rak’ahs.”

“Angels come to you in succession by night and day, and they meet at Fajr prayer and ‘Asr prayer. Then those who spent the night among you ascend, and He (Allah) will ask them, although He knows best: ‘In what condition did you leave My slaves.’ They will say: ‘We left them when they were praying and we came to them when they were praying.'”

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: This people of mine is one to which mercy is shown. It will have no punishment in the next world, but its punishment in this world will be trials, earthquakes and being killed.

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) allowed us to eat horse meat, and he forbade us from eating donkey meat.” He said: There is something on this from Asma’ bin Abi Bakr. Abu ‘Eisa said: This Hadith is Hasan Sahih. This is how it was reported by more than one narrator, from ‘Amr bin Dinar from Jabir. Hammad bin Zaid reported it from ‘Amr bin Dinar from Muhammad bin ‘Ali, from Jabir. The narration of Ibn ‘Uyainah (no. 1793) is more correct. He said: I heard Muhammad saying: “Sufyan bin ‘Uyainah is better at memorizing than Hammad bin Zaid.”

“O Allah, bear witness that I have issued a warning concerning (failure to fulfill) the rights of the two weak ones: Orphans and women.'”

“Our Prophet(ﷺ) commanded us to spread (the greeting of) peace.”
