I said, “O Allah’s Prophet! We are living in a land ruled by the people of the Scripture; Can we take our meals in their utensils? In that land there is plenty of game and I hunt the game with my bow and with my hound that is not trained and with my trained hound. Then what is lawful for me to eat?” He said, “As for what you have mentioned about the people of the Scripture, if you can get utensils other than theirs, do not eat out of theirs, but if you cannot get other than theirs, wash their utensils and eat out of it. If you hunt an animal with your bow after mentioning Allah’s Name, eat of it. and if you hunt something with your trained hound after mentioning Allah’s Name, eat of it, and if you hunt something with your untrained hound (and get it before it dies) and slaughter it, eat of it.”
I came to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and said, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! We are living in the land of the people of the Scripture and we take our meals in their utensils, and in the land there is game and I hunt with my bow and trained or untrained hounds; please tell me what is lawful for us of that.” He said, “As for your saying that you are living in the land of the people of the Scripture and that you eat in their utensils, if you can get utensils other than theirs, do not eat in their utensils, but if you do not find (other than theirs), then wash their utensils and eat in them. As for your saying that you are in the land of game, if you hung something with your bow, and have mentioned Allah’s Name while hunting, then you can eat (the game). And if you hunt something with your trained hound, and have mentioned Allah’s Name on sending it for hunting then you can eat (the game). But if you hunt something with your untrained hound and you were able to slaughter it before its death, you can eat of it.”
I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! We are living in the land of the people of the Scripture, and we take our meals in their utensils, and there is game in that land and I hunt with my bow and with my trained hound and with my untrained hound.” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “As for your saying that you are in the land of people of the Scripture, you should not eat in their utensils unless you find no alternative, in which case you must wash the utensils and then eat in them As for your saying that you are in the land of game, if you hunt something with your bow, mention Allah’s Name (while hunting the game) and eat; and if you hunt something with your trained hound, mention Allah’s Name on sending and eat; and if you hunt something with your untrained hound and get it alive, slaughter it and you can eat of it.”
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) forbade the eating of the meat of beasts having fangs.
The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade the eating of wild animals having fangs. (Az-Zuhri said: I did not hear this narration except when I went to Sham.) Al-Laith said: Narrated Yunus: I asked Ibn Shihab, “May we perform the ablution with the milk of she-asses or drink it, or drink the bile of wild animals or urine of camels?” He replied, “The Muslims used to treat themselves with that and did not see any harm in it. As for the milk of she-asses, we have learnt that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) forbade the eating of their meat, but we have not received any information whether drinking of their milk is allowed or forbidden.” As for the bile of wild animals, Ibn Shihab said, “Abu Idris Al-Khaulani told me that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) forbade the eating of the flesh of every wild beast having fangs . “
I came to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and said: Allah’s Messenger, we are in the land of the People of the Book, (so) we eat in their utensils, and (live) in a hunting region. where I hunt with, the help of my bow, and hunt with my trained dog, or with my dog which is not trained. So inform me what is lawful (Halal) for us out of that. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Regarding what you have mentioned of the fact that you live in the land belonging to the People of the Book and so you eat in their utensils, but if you can get utensils other than theirs, then don’t eat in them; but if you do not find any, then wash them and eat in them. And regarding what you have mentioned about (your living) in a hunting region, what you hunt, (strike) with the help of your bow, recite the name of Allah (while shooting an arrow) and then eat; and what you catch with the help of your trained dog, recite the name of Allah (while letting oil) the dog and then eat it, and what you get with the help of your untrained dog, (if you find it alive) and slaughter it (according to the law of the Shari’ah), eat it.
If you shoot with your arrow and (the game) goes out of your sight and you find it (later on), then eat that if it has not gone rotten.
Eat it, provided it has not gone rotten.
He (the Holy Prophet) said in regard to the game killed by (a trained) dog: Eat after three days provided it has not gone rotten.
We did not bear of it until we came to Syria.
I did not bear of this from our ‘Ulama’ in the Hijaz, until Abu Idris narrated that to me and he was one of the jurists of Syria.
“The Prophet said: ‘The price of a dog, the fees of a fortuneteller and the gift of a female fornicator are not permissible.”‘
“O Messenger of Allah what do you think about mastigures?” He said: “I do not eat them but I do not say that they arte Haram.”
A grilled mastigure was brought to the Messenger of Allah and was placed near to him. He reached out his hand to eat it, and someone who was present said: “O Messenger of Allah, it is the meat of a mastigure.” He withdrew his hand and Khalid bin Al-Walid said to him: “O Messenger of Allah, is mastigure Haram?” He said: “No, but it is not found in the land of my people, and I find it distasteful.” He said: “Then Khalid bent over the mastigure and ate some of it, and the Messenger of Allah was looking at him.”
“It is not permissible to eat the flesh of horses, mules or donkeys.”
the Messenger of Allah forbade eating the flesh of horses, mules and donkeys, and any predator that has fangs.
the Messenger of Alllah forbade (Eating) the meat of sacrificial animals after three days. Then Qatadh bin An-Nu’ man, who was brother of Abu Sa’eed through his mo0ther, and had been present at Badr, came and they offered him (some of the meat) .He said: “Didn’t the Messenger of Allah forbid it?” Abu Sa eed said: “Something happened later. The Messenger of Allah forbade us to eat it for more than three days, then he allowed us to eat it and store it.” (Sahih )
The Messenger of Allah forbade (wearing) garments dyed with safflower, and Al-Qassiyah garments, and reciting Qur’an while he is bowing.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Eat what ever is caught for you by a dog or a hawk you have trained and set off when you have mentioned Allah’s name. I said: (Does this apply) if it killed (the animal)? He said: When it kills it without eating any of it, for it caught it only for you. Abu Dawud said: If a hawk eats any of it, there is no harm (in eating it). If a dog eats it, it is disapproved (to eat the meat). If it drinks blood, there is no harm (in eating it).
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: He said: He who sticks to a king is perverted. This version adds: The nearer a servant (of Allah) goes to a king, the farther he keeps away from Allah.
I asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about the hyena. He replied: It is game, and if one who is wearing ihram (pilgrim’s robe) hunts it, he should give a sheep as atonement.
I was on an expedition along with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). We got the vessels and skins of the polytheists and used them. But he did not object to them (i.e. us) for that (action).
The people will not perish until their sins and faults become abundant, and there remains no excuse for them.
That a man who had drunk wine was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ), so he beat him about forty times with two stalks of a palm tree. So Abu Bakr did similarly, and by the time ‘Umar became Khalifah he sought council from the people. And ‘Abdur-Rahman bin ‘Awf said: ‘I see that the lightest penalty is eighty lashes,’ so ‘Umar ordered that.
“Whoever has relations with beast, then there is no legal punishment for him.”
That the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever vowed to obey Allah, then he should obey Him. And whoever vowed to disobey Allah, then he should not disobey Him.”
“I saw Ibn Rafi’ said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wore a ring on his right hand.” He said: Muhammad said: “This is the most correct thing related from the Prophet (ﷺ) on this topic.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had a ring made from silver, so he had ‘Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah’ engraved on it. Then he said: ‘Do not engrave with it.’ This Hadith is Sahih Hasan. As for the meaning of his saying: “Do not engrave with it” – he was prohibiting that anyone have “Muhammad, Messenger of Allah” engraved on his ring.
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded that dogs be killed.”
It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) granted a concession to Zubair bin ‘Awwam and ‘Abdur-Rahman bin ‘Auf, allowing them to wear silk shirts, because of a rash they were suffering from.
“O Messenger of Allah, what should I do with these? Shall I wear them?” He said: “No, rather make them into head-cloths and give them to the Fatimahs.”**
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade putting on sandals whilst standing.”
