I heard Muawiya bin Abi Sufyan (repeating the statements of the Adhan) while he was sitting on the pulpit. When the Mu’adh-dhin pronounced the Adhan saying, “Allahu-Akbar, Allahu Akbar”, Muawiya said: “Allah Akbar, Allahu Akbar.” And when the Mu’adh-dhin said, “Ash-hadu an la ilaha illal-lah (I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)”, Muawiya said, “And (so do) I”. When he said, “Ash-hadu anna Muhammadan Rasulullah” (I testify that Muhammad is Allah’s Apostle), Muawiya said, “And (so do) I”. When the Adhan was finished, Muawiya said, “O people, when the Mu’adh-dhin pronounced the Adhan I heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) on this very pulpit saying what you have just heard me saying”.
“When the Mu’adhdhin called the Adhan, some of the Companions of the Prophet (S.A.W) would get up and rush to the pillars (in the Masjid) and pray until the Prophet (S.A.W) came out and they were like that. They would pray before Maghrib and there was nothing between the Adhan and Iqamah.”
“Two men argued about the Masjid which was founded on piety from the first day. One man said that it was the Masjid of Quba’, and the other said that it was the Masjid of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘It is this Masjid of mine.'” At-Tawbah 9:108.
“And Al-‘Abass was in Al-Madinah, and he asked the Ansar for a garment to clothe him in, but they could not find a shirt that would fit him except the shirt of ‘Abdullah bin Ubayy, so they clothed him in it.”
a man killed himself with an arrowhead and the Messenger of Allah said: “As for me, I will not pray for him.”
“I offered the funeral prayer with the Messenger of Allah for Umm kab who had died in childbirth, and the Messenger of Allah stood in line at her mid-section to pray.”
“I heard ‘Awf bin Malik say: “I heard the Messenger of Allah offering the funeral prayer for one who had died, and I heard him say in his supplication: Allahummaghfir lahu warhamhu wa ‘afihi, wa a’fu ‘anhu, wa akrim nuzulahu wa wassi’ mudkhalahu waghsilhu bil-ma wath-thalji wal-barad, wa naqqihi min al-khataya kama naqqaita-thawb al-abyad min ad-danas. Wa abdilhu daran khairan min darihi, wa ahlan khayran min ahlihi, wa zawjan khayran min zawjihi. Wa adkhilahul-jannah wa najjihi min an-nar” (O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him, keep him safe and sound and forgive him, honor the place where he settles and make his entrance wide; wash him with water and snow and hail, and cleanse him of his sin as you cleanse a white garment of dirt. O Allah, give him a house better than his house and a family better than his family and a wife better than his wife, and admit him to Paradise and save him from Hellfire).” Or he said: “Wa a’idhhu min ‘adhab al-qabr (And protect him from the torment of the grave.)”
“There is no good deed that the son of Adam does, but between ten and seven hundred Hasanahs will be recorded for him. Allah, the mighty and sublime, said: ‘Except fasing, for it is for me and I shall reward for it. He gives up his desires and his food for my sake. Fasting is a shield, and the fasting person has two moments of joy. One when he breaks his fast and another when he meets his Lord. And the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk.” ‘
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Allah, the Mighty and sublime, said: Every deed of the son of Adam is for him, except fasting; it is for me and I shall reward for it. Fasting is a shield. If any one of you is observing a fast, let him not utte obscene a fast, let him not utter obscene talk or raise his voice in anger, and if anyone insults him or wants to fight, let him say: I am a person who is fasting. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the smell coming from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk.” ‘ (Sahih) This Hadith was narrated from Abu Hurairah by Saeed bin Al-Musayyab.
“I heard the Messenger of Allah say: ‘Allah, the mighty and sublime, said: Every deed of the son of Adam is for him, except fasting; it is for me and I shall reward for it. By the one in whose hand is the soul of Muhmmad, the smell coming from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk.” ‘
“The Messenger of Allah said: “The best of charity is that which is given when you are self-sufficient, and start with those for whom you are responsible.”‘
“A man came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, if I am killed in the cause of Allah with patience and seeking reward, facing the enemy and not running away, do you think that Allah will forgive my sins?’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Yes.’ When the man turned away, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) called him back and said: ‘What did you say?’ He repeated his question, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Yes, except debt. Jibril told me.'”
” I heard ‘Adiyy bin Hatim say: ‘I asked the Messenger of Allah about the Mirad and he said: “If the sharp point hits 9the game) then eat, bu8t if the broad edge of it hits it, and it is killed, then it has been killed by a blow, so do not eat.”
“I asked the Messenger of Allah about hunting with the Mirad and the said: ‘If the sharp edge hits (the game), then eat, but if the broad edge of it strikes it, do not eat it.”‘
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Among the people who will be most severely punished on the Day of Resurrection will be the image-makers.'”
The Messenger of Allah said: “Two women went out with two children of theirs, and the wolf attacked one of them and took her child. The next day they referred their dispute over the remaining child to Dawud, peace be upon him, and he ruled that (the child) belonged to the older woman. Then they passed by Sulaiman and he said: ‘What is your story?’ So they told him. He said: ‘Bring me a knife and I will cut him in half (to be shared) between you.’ The younger one said: ‘Will you cut him in half?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ She said: ‘Do not do that; I will give my share of him to her.’ He said: ‘He is your child’ and he ruled that he belonged to her.”
Two men referred a dispute to the Messenger of Allah said: “By the One in Whose hand is my soul, I will pass judgment between you according to the Book of Allah. As for your sheep and your slave girl, take them back.” Then he gave his son one hundred lashes, and exiled him for one year, and he ordered Unais to go to the wife of the other man and if she confessed, to stone her to death. She did confess, so he stoned her to death.
Abu Sa’id (Al Khudri) reported The Prophet(ﷺ) was asked “Which believers are most perfect in respect of faith? He replied “A man who strives in the path of Allaah with his life and property and a man who worships Allaah in a mountain valley where he protects the people from his evil.””
Abu Hurairah reported the Prophet (ﷺ) as saying “He who dies without having fought or having felt fighting (against the infidels) to be his duty will die guilty of a kind of hypocrisy.”
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The similitude of the one who takes back what he gifted is like that of a dog which vomits and then it eats vomit. When a donor seeks to take back (his gift), it should be made known and he informed why he sought to take it back. Then whatever he donated should be returned to him.
Ibn ‘Abbas said that his maternal aunt presented to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) clarified butter, lizards and cottage cheese. He ate from clarified butter and cheese, but left the lizard abominably. It was eaten on the food cloth of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). Had it been unlawful, it would not have been eaten on the food cloth of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).
The Prophet (ﷺ) used to eat with three fingers and not wipe his before licking it.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Do not uncover you thigh, and do not look at the thigh of the living and the dead. Abu Dawud said: This tradition disagrees with the generally reported traditions (nakarah).
A man from the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) travelled to Fudalah ibn Ubayd when he was in Egypt. He came to him and said: I have not come to you to visit you. But you and I heard a tradition from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). I hope you may have some knowledge of it. He asked: What is it? He replied: So and so. He said: Why do I see you dishevelled when you are the ruler of this land? He said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has forbidden us to indulge much in luxury. He said: Why do I see you unshod? He replied: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to command us to go barefoot at times.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The people will establish cities, Anas, and one of them will be called al-Basrah or al-Busayrah. If you should pass by it or enter it, avoid its salt-marshes, its Kall, its market, and the gate of its commanders, and keep to its environs, for the earth will swallow some people up, pelting rain will fall and earthquakes will take place in it, and there will be people who will spend the night in it and become apes and swine in the morning.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: I have told you so much about the Dajjal (Antichrist) that I am afraid you may not understand. The Antichrist is short, hen-toed, woolly-haired, one-eyed, an eye-sightless, and neither protruding nor deep-seated. If you are confused about him, know that your Lord is not one-eyed. Abu Dawud said: ‘Amr bin Al-Aswad was appointed a judge.
When the slave-woman of any of you commits fornication, he should inflict the prescribed punishment on her, but not hurl reproaches at her. This is to be done up to three times. If she a fourth time, he should flog her, and sell her even if only for a rope of hair.
The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by ‘Alqamah b. Wa’il through a different chain of narrators and to the same effect.
I did not see more defective in respect of reason and religion than the wise of you (women). A woman asked: What is the defect of reason and religion ? He replied: The defect of reason is the testimony of two women for one man, and the defect of faith is that one of you does not fast during Ramadan (when one is menstruating), and keep away from prayer for some days.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: By his good character a believer will attain the degree of one who prays during the night and fasts during the day.
Is one of you unable to be like Abu Damdam? The people asked: who is Abu Damdam? He replied : A man of old before you. He then mentioned the rest of tradition to the tradition to the same effect. This version has : who would say (in the morning) : My honors is for the one who reviles me. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has also been transmitted by Hashim bin al-Qasim from Muhammad b. ‘Adb Allah al-‘Ammi from Thabit on the authority of Anas from Prophet (ﷺ) to the same effect. Abu Dawud said: The tradition of Hammad (i.e. ‘Abd al-Rahman’s version) is sounder.
He must say: “My master” (sayyidi) and “My patron” (mawlaya).
A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: Peace be upon you! He responded to his salutation. He then sat down. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Ten. Another man came and said: Peace and Allah’s mercy be upon you! He responded to his salutation when he sat down. He said: Twenty. Another man came and said: Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you! He responded to him and said when he sat down: and blessings be upon you! He responded to him and said when he sat down: Thirty.
When the people of the Yemen came, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The people of the Yemen have come to you and they are first to shake hands.
The Prophet (ﷺ) was on journey. The people became thirsty, and they went quickly. I guarded the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) on that night. He said: May Allah guard you for the reason you have guarded His Prophet!
“The Prophet performed Wudu; so he washed his face three times, and his hands three times, and wiped his head, and he said: “The ears are part of the head.”
From ‘Aishah that she wanted to purchase Barirah, but they (he owners) made the condition that they would retain the Wala’. So the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Buy her, the Wala’ is only for the one who gives the price, or for the one who grants the favor.” There is something on this topic from Ibn ‘Umar. The Hadith of ‘Aishah is a Hasan Sahih Hadith. This is acted upon according to the people of knowledge. And Mansur bin Al-Mu’tamir’s Kunyah is Abu ‘Attab. Abu Bakr Al-‘Attar Al-Basri narrated to us from ‘Ali bin Al-Madini who said: “I heard Yahya bin Sa’eed saying: ‘When you get a narration from Mansur, then your hand has been filled with goodness without needing others.’ Then Yahya said: ‘I did not find anyone more reliable in (narrating from) Ibrahim An-Nakha’i and Mujahid than Mansur.” Muhammad informed me from ‘Abdullah bin Abi Al-Aswad who said: ” ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Mahdi said: ‘Mansur is the most reliable of the people of Al-Kufah.'”
That the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Do not withhold surplus water so that it is prevented from the pasture.” This Hadith is Hasan Sahih. Abu Al-Munhal’s name is ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Mut’im, he is from Al-Kufah, and he is oen that Habib bin Abi Thabit reports from. Abu Al-Munhal Sayyar bin Salamah is from Al-Basrah, he is the companion of Abu Barzah Al-Aslami.
That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever acquires a dog – with the exception of a dog to guard livestock, a hunting dog, or a farm dog – each day a Qirat is deducted from his reward.”
From his father, that the Prophet (ﷺ) gave a Khutbah, then he descended and called for two rams and slaughtered them.

“On the day of (the battle of) Al-Ahzab, Sa’d bin Mu’adh was struck by an arrow such that the upper vein or lower vein of his forearm was severed. So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) tried to stop it with fire, but it made his arm bleed profusely so he left it. Then he did it another time but it caused it to bleed profusely. Upon seeing that he said: ‘O Allah! Do not allow my soul depart until my eyes are comforted by elimination of Banu Quraizah.’ He pressed his vein closed and it did not bleed a drop before they surrendered to the arbitration of Sa’d bin Mu’adh. He (the Prophet (ﷺ)) sent to him (Sa’d) who judged that their men should be killed, their women should be spared, and that the Muslims may share them among themselves. With this, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘You have judged according to Allah’s judgement for them.’ And they were four hundred. Then when he finished killing them, his vein opened up and he died.” There are narrations on this topic from Abu Sa’eed and ‘Atiyyah Al-Qurazi. This Hadith is Hasan Sahih.
“Umar bin Al-Khattab informed me that he heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘I will expel the Jews and the Christians from the Arabian Peninsula, and I will not leave anyone in it except a Muslim.” This Hadith is Hasan Sahih.
That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The deeds of everyone who dies are sealed. Except for the one who dies guarding the frontier from the enemy, in the cause of Allah. For indeed his actions are increased for him until the Day of Judgement, and he is secure from the tribulation of the grave.” And I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying: “The Mujahid is one who strives against his own soul.” There are narrations on this topic from ‘Uqbah bin ‘Amir and Jabir. The Hadith is Fadalah is a Hasan Sahih Hadith.
“The wife of Sa’d bin Ar-Rabi came with her two daughters from Sa’d to he Messenger of Allah(S.A.W)and said; O Messenger of Allah(S.A.W)! these two are daughters of Sa’d bin Ar-Rabi who fought along with you on the day of Uhud and was martyred. Their uncle took their wealth, without leaving any wealth for them, and they will not be married unless they have wealth.’ He said: ‘Allah will decide on that matter.’ The ayah about inheritance was revealed, so the Messenger of Allah(S.A.W) sent (word) to their Uncle saying: Give the two daughters of Sa’d two thirds, and give their mother one eighth, and whatever remains, then it is for you.’
“By the One in Whose Hand is my soul! The Hour will not be established until predators speak to people and until the tip of a man’s whip and the straps on his sandal speak to him, and his thigh informs him of what occurred with his family after him.”
” The Muslim’s dreams are a portion of the forty-six portions of Prophet-hood. And it is (as if it is) on the leg of a bird, as long as it is not spoken of. But when it is spoken of it falls.”
“If the Son of Adam had a valley of gold, then he would still like to have a second . And nothing fills his mouth but dust, Allah turns to whoever repents.”
” O Messenger of Allah! When will the Hour be established?” So the Propher (s.a.w) stood to perform Salat and when he was finished his Salat he said: “Where is the one who asked when the hour will be established?” The man said: “It was I, O Mesenger of Allah!” He said: “What have you prepared for it?” He said: “O Messenger of allah! I have not prepared very much of salat nor fasting for it, but I love Allah and His Messenger.” So the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) said: “A man shall be with whom ever he loves, and you shall be with whomever you love.” So after the advent of Islam, I did not see that anything brought the Muslims more happiness than that.
” A man shall be with whoever he loves, and for him shall be what he has earned.”
“I entered upon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) while there was a scribe in front of him, and I heard him saying: ‘Put the pen on your ear, for that is more conducive to the scribe remembering.'”
that ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab was asked about this Ayah: And when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed and made them testify as to themselves: “Am I not your Lord?” They said: “Yes! We testify,” lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: ‘Verily, we have been unaware of this (7:172).'” So ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) being asked about it. So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Indeed Allah created Adam, then He wiped his back with His Right Hand, and his offspring came out of him. So he said: “I created these for Paradise, and they will do the deeds of the people of Paradise.” Then He wiped his back, and his offspring came out of him. So He said: “I created these for the Fire, and they will do the deeds of the people of the Fire.” A man said: ‘Then of what good is doing deeds O Messenger of Allah!’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Verily, when Allah created a man for Paradise, He makes him perform the deeds of the people of Paradise, until he dies doing one of the deeds of the people of Paradise. So Allah will admit him into Paradise. And when He created a man for the Fire, He makes him perform the deeds of the people of the Fire until he dies doing the deeds of the people of the Fire. So Allah will enter him into the Fire.'”
“`Umair bin Hani used to perform a thousand prostrations every day and recite a hundred thousand Tasbīḥs every day.”
“Allah’s greatest name is in these two Ayah: ‘And your deity is One deity, there is none who has the right to be worshipped but He, Ar-Raḥmān, Ar-Raḥīm.’ And the Opening of Al-`Imrān: ‘Alif. Lām. Mīm. Allah, None has the right to be worshipped but He, the Ever living, the Sustainer.’”
“I see that your companion (the Prophet) is teaching you everything, even how to relieve yourselves?” He said: “Yes indeed. He has ordered us not to face the Qiblah (prayer direction) nor to clean ourselves with our right hands, and not to be content with anything less than three stones, which are not to include any excrement or bones.”
‘The Messenger of Allah said: ‘When you get up for prayer, perform ablution properly and make the water run between your toes and your fingers.'”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘If you drink milk, then rinse your mouths, for there is some greasiness in it.'”
The Prophet was asked about the water basins located between Makkah and Al-Madinah, which were visited by wild animals, dogs and donkeys, and about using them for means of purification. He said: “Whatever they (the animals) have carried in their bellies is for them, and whatever is left over is for us, and is pure.”
They asked ‘Abdullah bin Abi Awfa about dry ablution. He said: “The Prophet commanded ‘Ammar to do like this;’ and he struck the ground with his palms, shook the dust off and wiped his face. (Da’if)Hakam said, “and his hands,” Salamah said, “and his elbows.”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘All the earth is a mosque, except for graveyards and Hammam.'”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘the prayer of a man in congregation is twenty-five levels higher than his prayer in his home.'”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘There are two characteristics which no Muslim man acquires but he will enter Paradise. They are easy but those who do them are few. At the end of every prayer he should glorify Allah (by saying Subhan Allah) ten times, extol Him (by saying Allahu Akbar) ten times, and praise Him (by saying Al-Hamdu Lillah) ten times.’ I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) counting them on his hand. ‘That is one hundred and fifty (after all the prayers of the day) on the tongue, and one thousand and five hundred on the Scale. And when he goes to his bed, let him glorify Allah and praise Him and extol Him one hundred times. That will be one hundred on the tongue and one thousand on the Scale. Who among you does two thousand and five hundred evil actions in one day?’ They said: ‘Who would not be keen to do that?’ He said: ‘But the Shaitan comes to anyone of you while he is performing prayer and says: ‘Remember such and such, remember such and such,” until the person becomes distracted and does not understand (what he is saying). And he comes to him when he is in his bed, and makes him sleepy such that he sleeps.’”
The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade fasting Rajab.
that the Prophet said: “When anyone of you gets a new wife, a servant, or an animal, let him take hold of the forelock and say: Allahumma inni as`aluka min khayriha wa khayri ma jubilat ‘alaihi, wa ‘audhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ma jubilat `alaih (O Allah, I ask You for the goodness within her and the goodness that she is inclined towards, and I seek refuge with you from the evil to which she is inclined).’ ”
“The Messenger of Allah said: “A man should not be married to a woman and her paternal aunt or maternal aunt at the same time.”
“The oath is only according to the intention of the one who requests the oath to be taken.”‘
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade selling what is in the wombs of cattle until they give birth, and selling what is in their udders unless it is measured out, and selling a slave who has fled, and selling spoils of war until it has been distributed, and selling Sadaqah until it has been received, and what a diver is going to bring up.”
the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) rid Mu’adh bin Jabal of his creditors, then he appointed him governor of Yemen. Mu’adh said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) settled my debts with my creditors using what wealth I had, then he appointed me as governor.”
“Mention was made of the mother of Ibrahim in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and he said: ‘Her son set her free.’”
“O younger brother, give us a share of your supplication, and do not forget us.”
“We were with the Prophet (ﷺ), and we were in Ihram. When a rider met us we would lower our garments from the top of our heads, and when he has gone, we would lift them up again.” Another chain reports a similar hadith.
“I do not know if it was Asma’ bint Abu Bakr or Su’da bint ‘Awf’ – that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) entered upon Duba’ah bint ‘Abdul-Muttalib and said: “What is keeping you, O my aunt, from performing Hajj?” She said: “I am a sick woman, and I am afraid of being prevented (from completing Hajj).” He said: ‘Enter Ihram and stipulate the condition that you will exit Ihram from the point where you are prevented.’”
“I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what should I do with those sacrificial animals that become unfit?’ He said: ‘Slaughter them, dip its sandal in its blood, then place it on its side, and leave them for the people to eat.’”
“We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on a journey, and the (day of) Al-Adha came. We (sacrificed) one camel on behalf of ten (people) and one cow on behalf of seven.”
“A man called the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, we used to sacrifice the ‘Atirah during the Ignorance days in Rajab,; what do you command us to do?’ He said: “Sacrifice to Allah whatever month it is, do good for the sake of Allah and feed (the poor).’ They said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, we used to sacrifice the Far’ah during the Ignorance days; what do you command us to do?’ He said: ‘For every Sa’imah* (flock of grazing animals), feed the firstborn as you feed the rest of your flock until it reaches an age where it could be used to carry loads, then sacrifice it, and give its meat in charity’ – I** think he said – ‘to the wayfarer, for that is good.’”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade killing four kinds of animals: Ants, bees, hoopoes and shrikes.”
“I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and this part of his hair was white” – meaning the tuft of hair between the lower lip and the chin.
“Whoever sees me in a dream has (really) seen me, for Satan cannot appear in my form.”
“I asked the Prophet (ﷺ): ‘O Messenger of Allah, is it tribalism if a man loves his people?’ He said: ‘No, rather tribalism is when a man helps his people to do wrong.’”
“The Hour will not begin until the Euphrates uncovers a mountain of gold and people fight over it, and out of every ten, nine will be killed.’”
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “A group among my Ummah will continue to follow the truth and prevail, and those who oppose them will not be able to harm them, until the command of Allah comes to pass.”
Abu Hurairah said to a man “O son of my brother, when I narrate a Hadith of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), to you, then do not try to make any examples for it.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Verbally abusing a Muslim is immorality and fighting him is Kufr (disbelief).'”
