“When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed Ghusl, he would pour water on his head three times.”
“The Prophet (ﷺ) delayed ‘Isha’ one night until part of the night had passed. Then ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, got up and called out: ‘The prayer, O Messenger of Allah! The women and children have gone to sleep.’ Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came out with water dripping from his head, saying: ‘This is (the best) time (for ‘Isha’), were it not that this would be too difficult for my Ummah.'”
“I heard the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) say: ‘When you hear the Mu’adhdhin then say what he says, and do Salah upon me, for whoever does Salah upon me once, Allah will Salah upon him ten (times). Then ask Allah to grant me Al-Wasilah, which is a position in paradise which only one of the slaves of Allah will attain, and I hope that I will be the one. Whoever asks for Al-Wasilah for me, will be entitled to my intercession.'”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to teach us the tashahhud just as he would teach us a surah of the Quran: ‘Bismillah, wa billahi. At-tahiyyatu lillahi wasalawatu wat-tayibaat, as-salamu ‘alaika ayah-Nabiyyu wa rahmatAllahi wa baraktuhu. As-salamu ‘alaina a ‘ala ibad illahis-salihin, ashadu an la ilaha ill Allah, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasuluhu. As’al Allahal-jannah wa author billahi min an-nar (All compliments, prayers and pure words are due to Allah. Peace be upon you O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous slaves of Allah. I bear witness that that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and messenger. I ask Allah for Paradise and I seek refuge with Allah from the Fire.)'”
“The black people came and played in front of the Prophet (ﷺ) on the day of ‘Eid. He called me and I watched them from over his shoulder, and I continued to watch them until I was the one who moved away.”
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray witr on his mount.
“The Messenger of Allah said: “The best kind of charity is that which is given when you are rich, and the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and start with those for whom you are responsible.”‘
he was with Messenger of Allah. When they were partway to Makkah, he lagged behind with some companions of his whowere in Ihram, but he was not in Ihram. He saw an onager, so he mounted his horse, then he asked his companions to hand him his whip, but they refused. He asked them to hand him his spear, but they refused. He took it, then chased the onager and killed it. Some of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ate from it but others refused. The caught up with the Messenger of Allah and asked him about that, and he said: “That is food that Allah, the Might and Sublime, gave to you.”
the Messenger of Allah joined Maghrib and Isha; in Jam (Al-Muzdalifah), with one Iqamah, and he did not offer any voluntary prayers in between or after either of them.
“Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has guaranteed to the one who strives in His cause, only going out for Jihad in His cause, and believing in His Word, that He will admit him to Paradise, or bring him back to his home from which he emerged, with whatever he has earned of reward, or spoils of war.”
It was narrated that ‘Alqamah said: “I was walking with ‘Abdullah in Mina and he was met by ‘Uthman who stood with him and spoke with him. He said: ‘O Abu Abdur-Rahman! Shall I not marry you to a young girl? Perhaps she will remind you of when you were younger?’ ‘Abdullah said: ‘As you say that (it reminds me that) the Messenger of Allah said to us: O young men, whoever among you can afford it, let him get married.'”
“When this verse- ‘And warn your tribe (O Muhammad) of near kindred’- was revealed, the Messenger of Allah said: ‘O Fatimah, daughter of Muhammad! O Safiyyah bint ‘Abdul-Muttalib! O Banu ‘Abdul-Muttalib! I cannot avail you anything before Allah; ask me for whatever you want of my wealth.'”
“Do not swear by your forefathers or by false gods (At-Tawaghit).”
“Umar had made a vow to spend a night in ‘Itikaf in Al-Masjid Al-Haram. He asked the Messenger of Allah about that, and he ordered him to perform the ‘Itikaf.”
“When you hire a worker, tell him what his wages will be.”
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet gave the datepalms of Khaibar and their land to the Jews of Khaibar, on condition that they would take care of them at their expense, and the Messenger of Allah would have half of whatever they produced.
“On the day of the Conquest of Makkah, the Messenger of Allah . He (‘Uthman) said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! Accept the allegiance of ‘Abdullah.’ He raised his head and looked at him three times, refusing his allegiance each time, then he accepted his allegiance after three times. Then he turned to his Companions and said: ‘Was there not any sensible man among you who would get up when he saw me refusing to give him my hand and kill him?’ They said: ‘We did not know, O Messenger of Allah, what was in your heart. Why did you not gesture to us with your eyes?’ He said: ‘It is not befitting for a Prophet that his eyes be deceitful.'”
” I heard my paternal aunt say: ‘The Messenger of Allah said; “Whoever among you is appointed to a position of authority. If Allah wills good for him. He will give him a righteous minister who will remind him if he forgets and help him if he remembers
the Messenger of Allah sent an army and appointed a man in charge of them. He lit a fire and said: “Enter it.” Some people wanted to enter it, and other said: “We are trying to keep away from it.” They mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah, and he said to those who had wanted to enter if: “If you had entered it you would have stayed there until the Day of Resurrection.” And he spoke good words to the others. And he said: “There is no obedience if it involves disobedience toward Allah. Rather obedience is only (required) in that which is good.”
“I came to the Prophet and asked him about the sacrificial meat. I heard him say: ‘For a boy, two sheep, and for a girl, one sheep, and it does not matter if they are male or female.”‘
“Ali said: ‘The Messenger of Allah did not tell me anything that he did not tell the people, except what is in a sheet in the sheath of my word.’ They did not leave him alone until he brought out the sheet, and in it (were the words): ‘The lives of the believers are equal in value, and they hasten to support the asylum granted by the least of them, and they are one against others. But no believer may be killed in return for a disbeliever, nor one with a covenant while his covenant is in effect.”
“While the Messenger of Allah was distributing something, a man came and leaned over him, and the Messenger of Allah hit him with a stick that head with him. The man shouted, and the Messenger of Allah said: ‘Come and ask for retaliation. He said: ‘No, I pardon you, O Messenger of Allah.”‘
The Messenger of Allah forbade (wearing) garments dyed with safflower, and Al-Qassiyah garments, and reciting Qur’an while he is bowing.
“I made some food and invited the Prophet (to come and eat). He came and entered, then he saw a curtain on which there were images, so he went out and said: ‘The Angels do not enter a house in which there are images.'”
Ibn ‘Abbas said “Mughith was a slave.” He said “Apostle of Allaah (ﷺ) make intercession for me to her (Barirah)”. The Apostle of Allaah (ﷺ) said “O Barirah fear Allaah. He is your husband and father of your child”. She said “Apostle of Allaah (ﷺ) do you command me for that? He said No, I am only interceding. Then tears were falling down on his (her husband’s) cheeks. The Apostle of Allaah (ﷺ) said to ‘Abbas “Are you not surprised with the love of Mughith for Barirah and her hatred for him.”
A man came and said: Messenger of Allah, fix prices. He said: (No), but I shall pray. Again the man came and said: Messenger of Allah, fix prices. He said: It is but Allah Who makes the prices low and high. I hope that when I meet Allah, none of you has any claim on me for doing wrong regarding blood or property.
The Prophet (ﷺ) held a wedding feast for Safiyyah with meal and dates.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: O AbuDharr. I replied: At thy service and at thy pleasure, Messenger of Allah. He then mentioned the tradition in which he said: What will you do when there the death of the people (in Medina) and a house will reach the value of a slave (that is, a grave will be sold for a slave). I replied: Allah and His Apostle know best. Or he said: What Allah and His Apostle choose for me. He said: You must show endurance. Or he said; you may endure. He then said to me: What will you do, AbuDharr, when you see the Ahjar az-Zayt covered with blood? I replied: What Allah and His Apostle choose for me. He said: You must go to those who are like-minded. I asked: Should I not take my sword and put it on my shoulder? He replied: you would then associate yourself with the people. I then asked: What do you order me to do? You must stay at home. I asked: (What should I do) if people enter my house and find me? He replied: If you are afraid the gleam of the sword may dazzle you, put the end of your garment over your face in order that (the one who kills you) may bear the punishment of your sins and his. Abu Dawud said: No one mentioned al-Mush’ath in the chain of this tradition except Hammad b. Zaid.
One day the Prophet (ﷺ) asked: Which of you had a dream? He then mentioned the rest of the tradition to the same effect, but he did not mention the word “disliked”. Instead, he said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was grieved about that. He then said: There will be a caliphate on the model of prophecy, then Allah will give the kingdom to whom he wills.
Al-Miqdam ibn Shurayh, quoting his father, said: I asked Aisha about living in the desert. She said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to go to the desert to these rivulets. Once he intended to go to the desert and he sent to me a she-camel from the camel of sadaqah which had not been used for riding so far. He said to me: Aisha! show gentleness, for if gentleness is found in anything, it beautifies it and when it is taken out from anything it damages it. Ibn al-Sabbah said in his version: Muharramah means a mount which has not been used for riding.
“Some people from Urainah arrived in Al-Madinah, and they were uncomfortable (and ill from the climate). So Allah’s Messenger sent them some camels from charity. He told them: “Drink from their milk and urine.” So they killed the camel driver that Allah’s Messenger sent, and they violently drove off the camels, and apostatized from Islam. So the Prophet came to them, he cut off their hands and feet on opposite side, and branded their eyes, and threw them in Al-Harrah.” Anas said, “So I saw one of them working over the ground with his mouth, until they died.”
the Prophet taught him the Adhan with nineteen phrases, and the Iqamah with seventeen phrases.
That a woman was found killed in one of the expeditions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), so the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) rebuked that, and he prohibited killing women and children. There are narrations on this topic from Buraidah and Rabah – and they say he was Riyah – bin Ar-Rabi’, Al-Aswad bin Sari’, Ibn ‘Abbas, and As-Sa’b bin Jaththamah. This Hadith is Hasan Sahih. This is acted upon according to some of the people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) and others. They disliked killing women and children. This is the view of Sufyan Ath-Thawri and Ash-Shafi’i. Some of the people of knowledge made an exception for killing the women who had children with them during night attacks, this is the view of Ahmad and Ishaq, they permitted it in night attacks.
“I heard Ibn ‘Abbas saying: ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab narrated to me that he said: “It was said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! So-and-so has been martyred.’ He said: “No! I saw him in the fire of garment he pilfered from the spoils of war.’ He said: ‘Stand up O ‘Umar! Call out that no one enters paradise except the believers.’ Three times.” This Hadith is Hasan Sahih Gharib.
That Ibn Sirin said: “I made my sword like the sword of Samurah bin Jundab. Samurah claimed that he made his sword like the sword of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and it was a Hanafiyah.” This Hadith is Gharib, we do not know of it except through this route. Yahya bin Sa’eed Al-Qattan has criticized ‘Uthman bin Sa’d the scribe, and he graded him weak due to his memory.
That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever fashions an image, he will be punished by Allah until he breathes into it – meaning the soul – and he cannot breath (a soul) into it. And whoever listens to a people’s conversation, while they have gone away from him for it, then He will have lead poured into his ears on the Day of Judgement.” He said: There are narrations on this topic from ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud, Abu Hurairah, Abu Juhaifah, ‘Aishah, and Ibn ‘Umar. The Hadith of Ibn ‘Abbas is a Hasan Sahih Hadith.
From his father who said: “A man wearing an iron ring came to the Prophet (ﷺ). So he said to him: ‘What is this I see on you, jewelry of the people of the Fire ?’ Then he came wearing a ring of brass. So he said: ‘What is this smell of idols I sense on you ?’ Then he came wearing a ring of gold. So he said to him: ‘What is this jewelry of the people of Paradise I see on you ?’ So he said: ‘What should I use then ?’ He said: ‘From silver, but not its entire weight.” This Hadith is Gharib and there are narrations on this topic from ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr, and ‘Abdullah bin Muslim’s Kunyah is Abu Taibah, and he is from Al-Marwaz.
“‘Umar said: ‘The blood-money is upon the ‘Aqilah, and the wife does not inherit anything from the blood-money of her husband.’ So Ad-Dahhak bin Sufyan Al-Kilabi informed him that the Messenger of Allah(S.A.W) wrote to him, (saying) to give the wife of Ashyam Ad-Dababi the inheritance from her husband’s blood-money.'”
“I heard An-Nu’man bin Bashir saying: ‘Do you (people) not have what you wish of food and drink?’ I have seen your Prophet and he did not have even enough daqal (dry dates) to fill his stomach.'”
that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to a man among his Companions: “Have you married O so-and-so?” He said: “No by Allah O Messenger of Allah! And I do not have anything to marry with.” He said: “Do you not know: Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad?” He said: “Of course.” He said: “It is a third of the Qur’an.” He said: “Do you not know Idha Ja Nasrullahi Wal-Fath?” He said: “Of course.” He said: “It is a fourth of the Qur’an.” He said: “Do you not know Qul Ya Ayyuhal-Kafirun?” He said: “Of course.” He said: “It is a fourth of the Qur’an.” He said: “Do you not know Idha Zulzilat Al-Ard?” He said: “Of course.” He said: “It is a fourth of the Qur’an.” He said: “Marry, marry.”
that about Allah’s saying: Thus we have made you a Wasata nation (2:143) – the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The meaning of Wasata is just.” Sahih. (Another chain) From Abu Sa’eed who narrated that: “The Messenger of Allah a said: ‘Nuh will be called and it will be said: “Did you deliver (the Message)? “He will say: “Yes” and his people will be called and it will be said: “Did he call you?” They will say: “No warner came to us. No one came to us.’ It will be said: “Who will testify for you?” So it is said: “Muhammad and his Ummah (community).” He (ﷺ) said: You will be brought to testify that he delivered (the Message) and that is His saying: Thus, we have made you a Wasata nation that you will be witnesses over mankind and the Messenger (Muhammad) will be a witness over you.’ And Al-Wasat is “Just.” (Sahih) Abu ‘Eisa said: This Hadith is Hasan Sahih.
“When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) arrived in Makkah, performing Tawaf around the House seven times, I heard him reciting: And take the Maqam of Ibrahim as a place of prayer (2:125). So he performed Salat behind the Maqam, then he came to the (Black) Stone, then he said: ‘We begin with what Allah began with.’ So he began at As-Safa and recited: Indeed As-Safa and Al-Marwah are among the Symbols of Allah (2:158).”
“The people of Makkah asked the Prophet (ﷺ) for a sign, so the moon was cleft asunder in Makkah two times (meaning two parts), so the following was revealed: ‘The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder, up to his saying: ‘Magic, Mustamir (54:1 & 2)’ meaning ‘Going away.'”
the Messenger of Allah said: And you make your provision your demise! – he said: “Your gratitude is expressed by saying: ‘We received rain because of this and that celestial position, and because of this and that star.’”
When the Prophet (ﷺ) would leave his house, he would say: “In the Name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah. O Allah! We seek refuge in You from slipping unintentionally or becoming misguided, or committing oppression or being oppressed, or acting ignorantly or being treated ignorantly (Bismillāh, tawakkaltu `alallāh. Allāhumma, innā na`ūdhu bika min an nazilla aw naḍilla, aw naẓlima aw nuẓlam, aw najhala aw yujhala alainā).”
“Al-`Abbas came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and it is as if he heard something, so the Prophet (ﷺ) stood upon the Minbar and said: ‘Who am I?’ They said: ‘You are the Messenger of Allah, upon you be peace.’ He said: ‘I am Muhammad bin `Abdullah bin `Abdul-Muttalib, indeed Allah created the creation, and He put me in the best group of them, then He made them into two groups, so He put me in the best group of them, the He made them into tribes, so He put me in the best of tribes, then He made them into houses, so He put me in the best of them in tribe and lineage.’”
“Whoever applies kohl to his eyes, let him add it an odd number of times. Whoever does that has done well, and whoever does not, there is no harm in it. And whoever dislodges (a particle of food from between the teeth) by dislodging it with his tongue, let him swallow it.”
A man asked him about having a bath to cleanse oneself from sexual impurity. He said to pour water three times. The man said: “But I have a lot of hair.” He said: “The Messenger of Allah had more hair than you and he was cleaner.”
The Prophet said to her, when she was menstruating: “Undo your braids and bathe.” (Sahih)(A narrator) ‘Ali said in his narration: “Undo your head.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) cursed women who visit graves.”
“Patience should come with the first shock.”
that the Messenger of Allah said: “When anyone of you has intercourse with his wife, let him cover himself and not be naked liked donkeys.”
a Muslim man saw in a dream that he met a man from among the People of the Book, who said: “What good people you would be if only you were not committing Shirk. For you say: ‘What Allah wills and Muhammad wills.”‘ He mentioned that to the Prophet (ﷺ) and he said: “By Allah, I am aware of that. Say: ‘What Allah wills then what Muhammad wills.”‘Another chain from Tufail bin Sakhbarah, the brother of ‘Aishah by her mother, from the Prophet (ﷺ), with similar wording.
“If two (separate) authorized persons make a sale (of the same thing), then the first transaction is the one that is valid. “
“Were it not for the Hadith of Ibn Buraidah from his father, from the Prophet (ﷺ) who said: ‘Judges are of three types, two of whom will be in Hell and one will be in Paradise. The man who knows the truth and rules in accordance with it, will be in Paradise. The man who passes judgment on the people in ignorance will be in Hell’ – we would have said that if the judge does his best he will be in Paradise.”
“A Woman was coerced (i.e., raped) during the time of Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) He waived the legal punishment for her and carried it out on the one who had attacked her, but he (the narrator) did not say that he rules that she should be given a bridal-money.”
“I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘Whoever ties a horse in the cause of Allah, then feeds it with his own hand, he will have one merit for every grain.’”
“I heard Abul-Ward, the Companion of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), say: ‘Beware of the troop which, when it meets (the enemy) it flees, and when it takes spoils of war, it steals from it.’”
“I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performing Sa’y between Safa and Marwah saying: ‘The valley should not be crossed except quickly.’”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded us to sacrifice two sheep for a boy’s ‘Aqiqah and one sheep for a girl.”
“If anyone of you, when he stops to camp (while on a journey), says A’udhu bi kalimatil-lahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq (I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from the evil of that which He has created), then nothing will harm him in that place until he moves on.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade gold rings.”
forbade men and women to enter bathhouses, then he allowed men to enter them wearing a waist wrap, but he did not make the same allowance for women.
“A good dream from a righteous man is one of the forty-six parts of prophecy.”
“A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) when he was delivering a sermon and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! Last night in my dream I saw my neck being struck and my head fell off, and I chased it, picked it up and put it back.’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘If Satan plays with any one of you in his dreams, he should not tell people about it.’”
“Verbally abusing a Muslim is Fusuq disobedience and fighting him is Kufr (ungratefulness to Allah).’”
“The best lifestyle is that of a man who holds onto the reins of his horse for the sake of Allah, riding on its back. Every time he hears a commotion he rushes towards it, seeking death wherever he thinks he can find it; and a man who tends sheep at the top of one of these peaks, or in the bottom of one of these valleys, establishing the prayer, paying the charity, and worshipping his Lord until the inevitable (death) comes to him and there is nothing between him and the people except good.”
“Towards the west (i.e., the place of the setting of the sun) there is an open door, seventy years wide. That door will remain open for repentance until the sun rises from this direction. When it rises from this direction, faith will not benefit any soul that did not believe before or earn anything good through its faith.”
“I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘The likeness of this world in comparison to the Hereafter is that of anyone of you dipping his finger into the sea: let him see what he brings forth.’”
“Love the poor, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say in his supplication: ‘O Allah, cause me to live poor and cause me to die poor, and gather me among the poor (on the Day of Resurrection).’”
