The Book of the Commencement of the Prayer · Narrated by Abu Ishaq al-Sabay'ai' أبو إسحاق السبيعي عمرو بن عبد الله, al-Ahwas bin Jawab الأحوص بن جواب, al-Fadl bin Sahl bin Ibrahim الفضل بن سهل بن إبراهيم الأعرج, Ammar bin Razayq عمار بن رزيق, ibn Umar, Ibrahim bin Mhajr bin Jabir إبراهيم بن مهاجر بن جابر, Mujahid bin Jabir مجاهد بن جبر

Zaid bin Thabit said: “Why do I see you reciting short surahs in Maghrib when I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) reciting the longer of the two long surahs in it?” I said: “O Abu Abdullah, what is the longer of the two long surahs?” He said: “Al-A’raf.”

“I heard the Messenger of Allah say: “No Sadaqah is due on less than five Awsaq of silver, no Sadaqah is due on less than five Dhawd (head) of camels, and no Sadaqah is due on less than five Awsuq of dates.”

We do not know anyone who mentioned it other than this shaikh, from Yazid bin Zurai. And it is in accordance with the meaning of Allah’s saying: “And wounds equal for equal” It has been reported that Muhammad bin Sirin said: “The Prophet only did this to them before the legislated punishments were revealed.”
