It was narrated from Ibn Abi Qatadah, from his father, that the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade breathing into the vessel (when drinking), touching one’s penis with one’s right hand, and cleaning oneself with one’s right hand.
“An announcer came to us from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: ‘Allah and His Messenger forbid you from (eating) the flesh of domestic donkeys, for it is filth.'”
“Shall we not bring water for Wudu’?” He said: “I have only been commanded to perform Wudu’ when I want to pray.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘If a man feels drowsy when he is praying, let him stop, lest he supplicate against himself without realizing.'”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent Usaid bin Hudair and some other people to look for a necklace that ‘Aishah had left behind in a place where she had stopped (while traveling). The time for prayer came and they did not have Wudu’, and they could not find any water, so they prayed without Wudu’. They mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and Allah, the Mighty and Sublime revealed the verse of Tayammum. Usaid bin Hudair said: ‘May Allah reward you with good, for by Allah, nothing ever happened to you that you dislike, but Allah makes it good for you and the Muslims.'”
“Umm ‘Atiyah said: ‘We used not to regard yellowish and brownish discharge as anything important.'”
“A woman asked ‘Aishah: ‘Should a menstruating woman make up the Salah she misses? She said: ‘Are you a Haruri? We used to menstruate during the time of Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) but we did not make up the missed Salah nor were we commanded to do so.'” Meaning are you one of the Khawarij. Harura is a place associated with a group of the Khawarij.
“I used to comb the hair of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) while I was menstruating.”
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade urinating into standing water then performing Ghusl with it.
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘When any one of you gets up after (sleeping) at night, let him not put his hand into the vessel until he has poured water on it two or three times, for none of you knows where his hand spent the night.'”
“We used to estimate how long the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood when praying in Zuhr and ‘Asr. We estimated that he stood in Zuhr for as long as it take to recite thirty verses, as long as Surat As-Sajadah in the fits two Rak’ahs, and half that in the last two. And we estimated that he stood for as long in the fits two Rak’ahs, and half that in the last two. And we estimated that he stood for as long in the first two Rak’ahs of ‘Asr as he stood in the last two Rak’ahs of Zuhr, and we estimated that he stood half as long as that in the last two Rak’ahs of ‘Asr.”
“I prayed with the Prophet (ﷺ) in Al-Madinah, eight together and seven together. He delayed Zuhr and brought ‘Asr forward, and he delayed Maghrib and brought ‘Isha’ forward.”
he said: “I said to Abu Mahdhurah: ‘I am going to Ash-Sham and I am afraid that I will be asked about how you say the Adhan. “‘He told me that Abu Mahdhurah said to him, I went out with a group of people and we were somewhere on the road to Hunain when the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) was coming back from Hunain. The Messenger of Allah met us somewhere on the road and the Muadhdhin of the Messenger of Allah called the Adhan for prayer in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W). We heard the voice of the Muadh’dhin and we were careless about it (the Adhan), so we started yelling, immitating and mocking it. The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) heard us, so he sent some people who brought us to stand in front of him. He said, ‘Who is the one whose voice I heard so loud?’ The people all pointed to me, and they were telling the truth. He sent them all away, but kept me there and said to me: ‘Stand up and call the Adhan for the Prayer.’ I stood up and the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) taught me the Adhan himself. He Said, ‘Say: ‘Allahu Akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar; Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah; Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah, Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah (Allah is the Greatest,Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest; I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah; I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger Allah,I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger Allah).’ Then he said: ‘Then repeat and say in a loud voice:Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah; Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah, Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah; Hayya ‘alas-salah, Hayya ‘ala-salah; Hayya ‘alal-falah Hayya ‘alal-falah; Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar; La ilaha ill-Allah (I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah; I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; Come to prayer, come to prayer; come to prosperity, come to prosperity; Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest; there is none worthy of worship except Allah).’ Then he called me when I had finished saying the Adhan, and he gave me a bundle in which there was some silver. I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah (S.A.W), let me be the one doing the Adhan in Makkah.’ He said: ‘I command you to do so.’ Then I came to ‘Attab bin Asid who was the governor of the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) in Makkah, and I called the Adhan for prayer with him upon the orders of the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W).”
“The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said: ‘When Ibn Umm Maktum calls the Adhan, eat and drink, and when Bilal calls the Adhan, do not eat nor drink.”
“Bilal calls the Adhan during the night to wake those who are sleeping and so that those who are praying Qiyam can return. Meaning to finish. Ash-Shawkani said: “To return to sleeping or return to sitting from praying” Nail Al-Awtar. Indicating with an up and down motion. The true dawn is from right to left.
It was narrated from Abdullah bin As Saib that the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) prayed on the day of Conquest (of Makkah), and he put his sandals to his left.
“I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘When any one of you visits some people,he should not lead them in prayer.”‘
“I prayed beside the Prophet (ﷺ) and Ayesha was behind us praying with us, and I was beside the Prophet (ﷺ) praying with him.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was leading us in prayer when a man came and entered the masjid, and he was out of breath. He said: ‘Allahu Akbar, al-hamdulillahi hamdan kathiran tayiban mubarakan fih. (Allah is Most Great, praise be to Allah, much good and blessed praise.)’ When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had finished his prayer he said: ‘Which of you is the one who spoke these words?’ The people kept quiet. He said: ‘He did not say anything bad.’ The man said: ‘I did, O Messenger of Allah. I came and I was out of breath, and I said it.’ The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘I saw twelve angels rushing to see which of them would take it up.'”
He prayed with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) one night and he heard him say when he said the takbir: “Allahu Akbara dhal-jabaruti wal-malakuti wal-kibriya’i wal-‘azamah (Allah is Most Great, the One Who has all power, sovereignty, magnificence and might.)” When bowing he would say: “Subhana Rabbial-‘Azim (Glory be to my Lord Almighty).” When he raised his head from bowing he would say: “Lirabbil-hamd, Lirabbil-hamd (To my Lord be praise, to my Lord be praise).” And when he prostrated (he said): “Subhana Rabbial-A’la (Glory be to my Lord Most High).” And between the two prostrations (he said): “Rabbighfirli, Rabbighfirli (Lord forgive me, Lord forgive me).” His standing, his bowing, when he raised his head from bowing, his prostration and the time between the two prostrations, were almost the same.
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Is there any one of you who kneel as a camel kneels when praying?'”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say the takbir every time he got up, went down, stood and sat. Abu Bakr, ‘Umar, and ‘Uthman (did likewise).”
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood up during the prayer when he should have sat, so he prostrated twice while sitting, before the taslim.
“I went out with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) from Al-Madinah to Mekkah, and he continued to shorten his prayers, and he stayed there for ten days.”
“When the sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), he performed wudu’ and ordered that the call be given: ‘As-salatu jami’ah.’ He stood for a long time in prayer,” and ‘Aishah said: “I thought that he recited Surah Al-Baqarah. Then he bowed for a long time, then he said: Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah. Then he bowed, then prostrated. Then he stood up and did the same again, bowing twice and prostrating once. Then he sat and the eclipse ended.”
“The imam should stand up facing the Qiblah and some of them should stand with him while the others stand facing the enemy. Then he should pray one rak’ah with them and they should pray another rak’ah by themselves, and prostrate twice where they are. Then they should go to where the others are and the others should come and he should lead them in bowing once and prostrating twice, so it will be two rak’ahs for him and one for them. Then they should bow once and prostrate twice (by themselves, to make up the other rak’ah).”
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led his companions in offering the fear prayer. One group prayed with him while the other was facing the enemy. He led them in praying two rak’ahs, then they went and took the place of the others, and the others came and he led them in praying two rak’ahs, then he said the taslim.
His father said: “Umar bin A-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, found a Hullah of Istibraq in the market. He took it and brought it to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), why don’t you buy this and adorn yourself with it for the two ‘Eids and when (meeting) the delegations?’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘This is the clothing of one who has no share in the Hereafter,’ or: ‘This is worn by one who has no share in the Hereafter.’ Then as much time passed as Allah (SWT) willed, then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent to Umar a garment made of Dibaj. He brought it to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, you said that this is the clothing of one who has no share in the Hereafter, then you sent this to me?’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Sell it and use the money for whatever you need.'”
“I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) delivering the Khutbah standing up, then he sat down for a while and did not speak, then he stood up and delivered another Khutbah. Whoever tells you that the Prophet (ﷺ) delivered a Khutbah sitting do not believe him.”
“I do not know that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recited the whole Qur’an in one night, or spent a whole night in worship until dawn, or that he ever fasted an entire month apart from Ramadan.”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘There is no Muslim, three of whose children die before reaching puberty, but Allah will admit him to Paradise by virtue of His mercy towards them.”‘
“There are no two Muslims, three of whose children die before reaching puberty, but Allah will admit them to Paradise by virtue of His mercy toward them. It will be said to them: ‘Enter Paradise.’ They will say: ‘Not until our parents enter.’ So it will be said: ‘Enter Paradise, you and your parents.”‘
that the Messenger of Allah announced the news of the death of Zaid and Ja’far before news of them came. He announced their death and his eyes were overflowing with tears.
“The Messenger of Allah entered upon us when his daughter died, and said: ‘Wash her three times or five, or more if you think (that is needed), with water and lote leaves, and put some camphor in it the last time, and when you have finished call me.’ When we finished we called him and he gave us his waist-wrap, and said: ‘Shroud her in it.”‘
“My son died, and I felt very sad. I said to the one who was washing him: ‘Do not wash my son with cold water and kill him.” ‘Ukashah bin Mihsan went to the Messenger of Allah and told him what she had said, and he smiled then said: “What did she say, may Allah give her long life?” And we do not know of any woman who lived as long as she lived.
“I heard Hafsah saying: ‘Umm ‘Atiyyah said: They tied the hair of the daughter of the Prophet in three braids.”‘ ‘I said: Did they undo it, then make three braids? She said: ‘Yes.”‘
“One of the daughters of the Prophet died, and he sent word to us saying: ‘Wash her with water and lotus leaves, and wash her an odd number of times, three, or five, or seven if you think (that is needed), and put some camphor in it the last time. And when you have finished, inform me.’ When we finished, we finished, we informed him, and he threw his informed him, and he threw his waist-wrap to us and said: ‘Shroud her in it.’ And we combed her hair and put it in three braids, and put it behind her.”
“The Messenger of Allah entered upon us when we were washing his daughter and said: ‘Wash her three times or five, or more if you think (that is necessary), with water and lotus leaves, and put camphor, or some camphor in it the last time. And when you have finished, inform me.’ When we finished, we informed him, and he threw his waist-wrap to us and said: ‘Shroud her in it.”‘
“The Messenger of Allah entered upon us while we were washing his daughter and said: ‘Wash her three times, or five or more if you think (that is necessary), with water and lotus leaves, and put camphor, or some camphor in it the last time. And when you have finished, inform me.’ When we finished, we informed him, and he threw his waist-wrap to us, and said: Shroud her in it.”
“Three times or five, or seven, or more than that, if you think that (is necessary).”
“Hafsah informed me that Umm ‘Atiyyah said: ‘We put her hair in three braids.”‘
“If a funeral passed by the Messenger of Allah he would stand up.”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Whoever follows a Janazah until it is finished, he will have two Qirats, and whoever goes back before it is finished, he will have one Qirat.”
“the Messenger of Allah did not offer the funeral prayer for Suhail bin Baida anywhere but inside the Masjid.”
he heard the Prophet say, when offering the funeral prayer for one who had died: Allahummighfir lihayyina wa mayyitina wa shahidina wa gha’ibina wadhakarina wa unthana wa saghirina wa kabirina (O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those who are present among us and those who are absent, our males and our females, our young and our old).
“I offered the funeral prayer behind Ibn ‘Abbas. He recited Fatihat Al-Kitab and a Surah, which he recited loudly, such that we could hear him. When he finished I took him by the hand and asked him. He said: ‘(It is) Sunnah and the truth.”‘
“Bury the slain where they fell.”
“On the day of Uhud some of the people among the Muslims were killed, and people were wounded. The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Dig graves and make them wide, and bury two or three in a grave, and put the one who knew more Qur’an in first.”‘
“When the Messenger of Allah was buried, a red velvet cloak was placed beneath him.”
“There are three times at which the Messenger of Allah forbade us to pray or to bury our dead: When the sun has risen fully until it is higher, when it reaches its zenith until it has passed the zenith, and when the sun starts to set” (Sahib)
“Someone who saw the Prophet pass by an isolated grave told me that he offered the funeral prayer there and his Companions formed rows behind him.” It was said: “Who told you this?” He said: “Ibn ‘Abbas.”
‘When it is Ramadan, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained up.”‘ It was narrated by Ibn Ishaq from Az-Zuhri.
“I came to the Messenger of Allah from a journey and greeted him with Salam. When I was going to leave he said: ‘Stay and have meal for breakfast, O Abu Umayyah.’ I said: ‘I am fasting, O Prophet of Allah.’ He said: ‘Come and I will tell about the traveler. Allah, most high, has waived fasting and of the prayer for him.”‘
That he came to Prophet, and he mentioned something similar.
he came to the Messenger of Allah from a journey and he said: “Come and have a meal for breakfast, O Abu Umayyah.” I said: ‘I am fasting; He said: ‘Come close and I will tell you about the traveler. Allah, most high, has waived fasting and half of the prayer for him.”‘
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘The most beloved fasting to Allah, the mighty and sublime, is the fast of Dawud, peace be upon him. He used to fast one day and not the next. And the most beloved prayer to Allah, the mighty and sublime, is the prayer of Dawud, peace be upon him. He used to sleep half the night, stand for one-third of it (in prayer), and sleep for one-sixth of it.”‘
“The injuries caused by the beast are without liability, and wells are without liability, and mines are without liability, and the Khumus is due on Rikaz.”
A similar report was narrated from Abu Hurairah from the Messenger of Allah.
“The Messenger of Allah enjoined Sadaqatul Fitr upon young and old, male and female, free and slave; a Sa’ of dates or a Sa’ of barley,”
” The poor man stands at my door, and I cannot find anything to give him. ” The Messenger of Allah said to her: “If you cannot find anything to give to him except a sheep’s burned foot, then give it to him.”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘from one ‘Umrah to another is an expiation for what comes in between, and Hajj al-Mabrur brings no reward less than Paradise.”'(sahih)
“The Messenger of Allah was asked what clothes the Muhrim may wear. He said: ‘He should not wear a shirt, or a burnous, or pants, or an ‘Imamah (turban, or any garment that has been touched by (dyed with) Wars or saffron, or Khuffs except for one who cannot find sandals. If he cannot find sandals, then let him cut them until they come lower than the ankles, (sahih)
‘Pants (are allowed) for one who cannot find an Izar, and Khuffs for one who cannot find sandals to wear in Ihram.;;
a man asked the Messenger of Allah what clothes the Muhrim should wear? The Messenger of Allah said: “Do not wear shirts, or ‘Imamahs, or pants, or burnouses, or Khuffs except if someone does not have sandals, in which case let him wear Khuffs, and cut them so that they come below the ankles. And do not wear any garment that has been touched by (dyed with) saffron or Wars.
“I heard that Messenger of Allah say: ‘Land game is permissible for you so long as you do not hunt it, and it is not hunted for you.'” (Daif) Abu Abdur Rahman (An-Nasai) said: ‘Amar bin Abi Amr Is not strong in Hadith, even they Malik reported from him.
That the Messenger of Allah was treated by means of cupping when he was in Ihram on the top of the foot for contusion that he had suffered. (Daif)
the Prophet set out from Al-Jirranah at night as if he were an ingot of silver (i.e., in whiteness and purity) and perfomed Umrah, then he came back in the mooring as if he had stayed there overnight.
the Messenger of Allah entered Makkah from the upper valley which is in Al-Batha and he left from the lower valley.
she came to Makkah when she was sick. She mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah and he said: “Perform Tawaf behind those who are praying while you are riding.” She said: “And I heard the Messenger of Allah, at the Kabah, reciting ‘By the Tur (Mount).”
“When the Messenger of Allah came to Makkah he entered the Masjid and touched the Stone, then he moved to his right and walked rapidly for three (rounds) and then walked (at a regular pace) for four. Then he came to the Maqam and said: ‘And take you (people) the Maqam (place) of Ibrahim as a place of prayer and prayed two Rakahs with the Maqam between him and the House. Then he came to the Hosue after praying those two Rakahs and touched the Stone, then he went out to As-Safa.”
the Prophet used to touch the Yemeni Corner and the Stone in earch Tawaf.
“I saw the Messenger of Allah when people came to him and asked him about Hajj. The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Hajj is Arafat. Whoever catches up with the night of Arafat before dawn comes on the night of Jam (Al-Muzdalifah), his Hajj is complete.'”
“What becomes unlawful (for marriage) through breast-feeding is that which becomes unlawful through lineage.”
“I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, why do you choose wives from among Quraish and not from among us?’ He said: ‘Do you have anyone in mind?’ I said: ‘Yes, the daughter of Hamzah.’ The Messenger of Allah said: ‘She is not permissible for me (to marry); she is the daughter of my brother through breast-feeding.'”
“Suckling once or twice does not make (marriage) prohibited.”
“My paternal uncle Aflah asked permission to enter upon me after the (Verse of) Hijab had been revealed, but I did not let him in. The Prophet came to me and I asked him (about that) and he said: ‘Let him in, for he is your paternal uncle.’ I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, the woman breast-fed me, not the man.’ He said: ‘Let him in, may your hands be rubbed with dust, for he is your uncle.'”
“The rest of the wives of the Prophet refused for anyone to enter upon them on the basis of that type of breast-feeding, meaning breast-feeding of an adult. They said to ‘Aishah: ‘By Allah, we think that what the Messenger of Allah told Sahlah bint Suhail to do was a concession which was granted by the Messenger of Allah only with regard to breast-feeding Salim. By Allah, no one will enter upon us, nor see us on the basis of this type of breast-feeding.'”
It was narrated from Anas that the Messenger of Allah manumitted Safiyyah and made her freedom her dowry.
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘What differentiates between the lawful and the unlawful is the Duff, and the voice (singing) for the wedding.'”
“I heard Muhammad bin Hatib say: ‘What differentiates between the lawful and the unlawful is the voice (singing).'”
“O Prophet! When you divorce women, divorce them at their ‘Iddah (prescribed periods).” Ibn ‘Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “Before their ‘Iddah elapses.”
“One morning, we saw the wives of the Prophet weeping, and each one of them had her family with her. I entered the Masjid and found it filled with people. Then ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, came, and went to the Prophet who was in his room. He greeted him with the Salam but no one answered. He greeted him again but no one answered. He greeted him (a third time) but no one answered. So he went back and called out: ‘Bilal!’ He came to the Prophet and said: ‘Have you divorced your wives?’ He said: ‘No, but I have sworn an oath of abstention from them for a month.’ So he stayed away from them for twenty-nine days, then he came and went into his wives.”
“The first Li’an in Islam was when Hilal bin Umayyah accused Sharik bin As-Sahma’ (of committing adultery) with his wife. He came to the Prophet and told him about that. The Prophet said: ‘(Bring) four witnesses, otherwise (you will feel) the Hadd punishment on your back.’ And he repeated that several times. Hilal said to him: ‘By Allah, O Messenger of Allah! Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, knows that I am telling the truth, and Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, will certainly reveal to you that which will spare my back from the whip.’ While they were like that, the Verse of Li’an was revealed to him: ‘As to those who accuse their wives.’ He called Hilal and he bore witness four times by Allah that he was telling the truth, and the fifth time he invoked the curse of Allah upon him if he were lying. Then he called the woman and she bore witness four times by Allah that he was lying. When it came to the fourth or fifth time, the Messenger of Allah said: ‘Stop her, for it will inevitably bring the punishment of Allah upon the liar.’ She hesitated until we thought that she was going to confess, then she said: ‘I will not dishonor my people today.’ Then she went ahead with the oath. The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Wait and see. If she produces a child who is white, with straight hair and Qadiy’a eyes, then he belongs to Hilal bin Umayyah, but if she produces a child who is dark with curly hair, of average size and with narrow calves, then he belongs to Sharik bin As-Sahma’.’ She produced a child who was dark with curly hair, of average size and with narrow calves. The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Had not the matter been settled by the Book of Allah, I would have punished her severely.'”
“I said to her: ‘Tell me your Hadith.’ She said: ‘I was separated from husband by Khul’, then I came to ‘Uthman and asked him: What ‘Iddah do I have to observe? He said: You do not have to observe any ‘Iddah, unless you had intercourse with him recently, in which case you should stay with him until you have menstruated. He said: In that I am following the ruling of the Messenger of Allah concerning Mariam Al-Maghaliyyah, who was married to Thabit bin Qais and was separated by Khul’ from him.'”
“Whatever a Verse (revelation) do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring a better one or similar to it.” and He said: “And when We change a Verse in place of another –and Allah knows best what He sends down.” and He said: “Allah blots out what He wills and confirms (what He wills). And with Him is the Mother of the Book.” “The first thing that was abrogated in the Qur’an was the Qiblah.” And He said: “And divorced women shall wait (as regards their marriage) for three menstrual periods.” and He said: “And those of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses, for them the ‘Iddah, if you have doubt (about their periods), is three months.” So (some) of that was abrogated, (according to) His, Most High, saying: “And then divorce them before you have sexual intercourse with them, no ‘Iddah have you to count in respect of them.”
“My husband divorced me and I wanted to move, so I went to the Messenger of Allah and he said: ‘Move to the house of your paternal cousin ‘Amr bin Umm Maktum, and observe your ‘Iddah there.'” Al-Aswad hit him (Ash-Sha’bi) with a pebble and said: “Woe be to you! Why do you issue such a Fatwa? ‘Umar said: ‘If you bring two witnesses who will testify that they heard that from the Messenger of Allah (we will believe you), otherwise, we will not leave the Book of Allah for the word of a woman.’ ‘And turn them not out of their (husband’s) homes nor shall they (themselves) leave, except in case they are guilty of some open Fahishah.'”
“It is not permissible for a man to give a gift and then take it back except a father taking back what he gave to his son. The likeness of the one who gives a gift then takes it back is that of the dog which eats until it is full, then it vomits, and goes back to its vomit.”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘The one who takes back his gift is like the dog which vomits then goes back to its vomit.'”
“If you swear an oath, then you see something better than it, then offer expiation for your oath, and do that which is better.”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘A vow does not bring anything forward or put it back; it is just a means of taking wealth from the miserly.'”
“The Prophet passed by a man who was circumambulating the Ka’bah, led by another man with a reign in his nose. The Prophet took him by the hand and commanded him to lead him by his hand.” Ibn Juraij said: “Sulaiman told me that Tawus told him, from Ibn ‘Abbas, that the Prophet passed by him when he was circumambulating the Ka’bah, and a man had tied his hand to another man with some string or thread or whatever. The Prophet cut it with his hand then said: ‘Lead him with your hand.'”
“There is no vow to commit an act of disobedience, and no vow concerning that which the son of Adam does not possess.”
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar, that ‘Umar had vowed to spend a night in ‘Itikaf during the Jahiliyyah. He asked the Messenger of Allah about that, and he ordered him to perform the ‘Itikaf.
“Umar had made a vow to spend a night in ‘Itikaf in Al-Masjid Al-Haram. He asked the Messenger of Allah about that, and he ordered him to perform the ‘Itikaf.”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘There is no vow at a moment of anger and its expiation is the expiation for an oath.'”
It was narrated from Rafi’ bin Khadij that the Messenger of Allah forbade Al-Muhaqalah and Al-Muzabanah.
“I asked Al-Qasim about Al-Muzara’ah, so he narrated from Rafi’ bin Khadij that the Messenger of Allah forbade Al-Muhaqalah and Al-Muzabanah.”
“The Messenger of Allah forbade us to lease our land. At that time there was no gold nor silver. A man would lease his land in return for what grew on the banks of streams and where the springs emerged, and in return for something specific.”
“I heard Usaid bin Rafi’ bin Khadij Al-Ansari say that they did not allow Al-Muhaqalah, which is land that is cultivated in return for some of its produce.”
“Ibn ‘Abbas said: ‘The best thing you can do is for one of you to rent his land out in return for gold and silver.'”
“Aishah said: ‘Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah said: It is not permissible to shed the blood of a Muslim, except a man who committed adultery after being married, or one who reverted to Kufr after becoming Muslim, or a life for a life.'”
Some people from ‘Uraynah camped in Al-Harrah and came to the Messenger of Allah sent (men) after them, who brought them, then he had their hands and feet cut off, and their eyes gouged out, and left them in Al-Harrah. Anas said: “I saw one of them biting at the ground from thirst, until they died.”
“Some Bedouin from ‘Uraynah came to the Prophet of Allah and accepted Islam, but the climate of Al-Madinah did not suit them; their skin turned yellow and their bellies became swollen. The Prophet of Allah sent them to some milk camels of his and told them to drink their milk and urine until they recovered. Then they killed their herdsmen and drove off the camels. The Prophet of Allah sent (men) after them and they were brought back, then he had their hands and feet cut off, and their eyes were branded.” The Commander of the Believers, ‘Abdul-Malik, said to Anas, when he was narrating this Hadith: “Was that (punishment) for Kufr or for sin?” He said: “For Kufr.”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘If a slave runs away, no Salah will be accepted from him until he goes back to his masters.'”
“If a slave runs away, no Salah will be accepted from him, and if he dies he will die a disbeliever.” A slave of Jarir’s ran away, and he caught him and struck his neck (killing him).
“If a slave runs away to the land of Shirk, there is no protection (or immunity) for him.”
The Messenger of Allah said: “Fighting a Muslim is Kufr and defaming him is evildoing.”
“‘Abdullah said: ‘Defaming a Muslim is evildoing and fighting him is Kufr.'”
“Fighting a believer is Kufr and defaming him is evildoing.”
The Prophet said: “If two Muslims confront each other with swords, each of them wanting to kill the other, they will both be in Hell.” It was said to him: “O Messenger of Allah, (we understand about) the killer, but what about the one who is killed?” He said: “He was determined to kill his companion.”
“On the day of Hunain the Messenger of Allah took a hair from the side of a camel and said: ‘O you people, it is not permissible for me to take even the equivalent of this from the Fay’ that Allah has bestowed upon you, except the Khumus, and the Khumus will come back to you.” (Sahih) Abu ‘Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasa’i) said: Abu Sallam’s name is Mamtur and he is Ethiopian, and Abu Umamah’s name is Sudai bin ‘Ajlan.
“I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, they are saying that no one will enter Paradise except a Muhajir.”‘ He said: “There is no more emigration (Hijrah) after the Conquest of Makkah, rather there is Jihad and intention. When you are called to moblize (for Jihad) then do so.”
“The Messenger of Allah said on the Day of the Conquest (of Makkah): “There is no more emigration (Hijrah), rather there is Jihad and intention. When you are called to moblize (for Jihad) then do so.”‘
” I heard my paternal aunt say: ‘The Messenger of Allah said; “Whoever among you is appointed to a position of authority. If Allah wills good for him. He will give him a righteous minister who will remind him if he forgets and help him if he remembers
“We used to eat horse meat during the time of the Messenger of Allah.”
the Messenger of Allah forbade (the flesh of) domesticated donkeys on the Day of Khaibar.
A similar report was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar, but he did not mention Khaibar,
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Do not slaughter anything but a Musinnah, unless that is difficult, in which case you can slaughter a Jadh’ah sheep.”‘
“The Messenger of Allah sacrificed two Amlah rams.”
“We were with the Mesenger of Allah on a journey, when the Day of Sacrifice came, so we shared a camel among ten men, and a cow among seven.”
“If the blood is shed and the name of Allah is mentioned, then eat, unless (it is slaughtered) with teeth or nails.”
“There are three at whom Allah will not look on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He sanctify them, and theirs will be a painful torment: the one who does not give anything but he reminds (the recipient of his gift), the one who drags his Izar (below the ankles), and the one who sells his product by means of false oaths.” (Sahih )
“Beware of taking oaths a great deal when selling, for it may help you to make a sale but it destroys the blessing.”
“Abdullah bin Dinr narrated to us, from Ibn’Umar, who said; The Messenger of Allah said; “When two people meet to engage in trade, the transaction between them is not binding until they separate, unless they have chosen to conclude the transaction.”
“I heard Jabir bin ‘Abdullah (narrate) from the Prophet that he forbade Mukhabarah, Muzabanah and Muhaqalah, an (he forbade) selling fruits until their condition is known, an that they should only sold for Dinars and Dirhams, but he granted a concession regarding the sale of Araya:
It was narrated from Au Hurairah that the prophet granted a concession allowing estimation for ‘Ararya sales, so long as they were five Wasq or less then that
“The Messenger of Allah said: “Do not sell food until you have bought it and taken possession of it.”‘
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘No man is bound by a transaction involving the sale of something that he does not possess.”’
“I asked the Prophet “O Messenger of Allah, a man may come to me and ask me to sell him something that I do not have. Can I sell it to him then go and buy it from the market?’ He said: ‘Do not sell what you do not have.”’
the Messenger of Allah forbade selling animals in exchange for animal’s ion credit.
“A slave came and gave his pledge to the Messenger of Allah to emigrate, and the Prophet did not realize that he was a slave. Then his master came looking for him. The Prophet said; ‘Sell him to me.’ So he bought him for two black slaves, then he did not accept until he had asked; ‘Is he a slave?”’
the Prophet forbade selling the offspring of the offspring of a pregnant animal (Habal Al-Habalah)
she wanted to buy Barirah to set her free, but they stipulated that her loyalty (should be to them. She mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah and the Messenger of Allah said: “Buy her, and wet her free and loyalty (Wala) belongs to the one who sets the slave free.” Some meat was brought to the Messenger of and it was said that this had been given in charity to Bariirah. He said: “It is charity for her, and a gift for us.” And she was given the choice
“The Messenger of Allah bought some food from a Jew on credit, and he gave him a shield of his as a pledge. “
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘if one who can afford it delay repayment, his honor and punishment become permissible.”‘
“There was Qisas among the Children of Israel, but Diyah was unknown among them. Then Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, revealed: “Al-Qisas (the law of equality in punishment) is prescribed for your in case of murder: the free for the free, the slave for the slave, and the female for the female.” Up to His saying: “But if the killer is forgiven by the brother 9or the relatives) of the killed against blood money, then adhering to it with fairness and payment of the blood money to the heir should be made in fairness.” means: This is easier thanthat which was prescribed for those who came before you, which was Qisas and not Diyah.”
“Al-Qisas (the Law of Equality in punishment) is prescribed for you in case of murder: the free for the free The rule for the Children of Israel was Qisas, and not Diyah. Then Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, revealed the Diyah to them, and He revealed this ruling to this Ummah as an alleviation of the ruling that applied to the Children of Israel.”
“Whoever is killed by mistake, his ransom is one hundred camels: Thirty Bint Makkah, thirty Bint Labun, thirty Hiqqah and ten Bin Labun. ” The Messenger of Allah used to fix the value (of the Diayah for accidental killing) among town-dwellers at four hundred Dinars or the equivalent value in silver. When he calculated the price in terms of people with camels (for Bedouin), it would vary from one time to another. When prices rose, the value in Dinars would rise, and when prices fell the value in Dinars would fall. At the time of the Messenger of Allah the value was between four hundred and eight hundred Dinars, or the equivalent value in silver, eight thousand Dirhams. And the Messenger of Allah ruled that if a person’s blood money was paid in cattle, among those who kept cattle, the amount was two hundred cows; and if a person’s blood money was paid in sheep, among this who kept sheep, the value was two thousand sheep. The Messenger of Allah ruled that the blood money is part of the estate, to be divided among the heirs of the victim according to their allotted shares, and whatever is left over is for the ‘Asabah. And the Messenger of Allah ruled that if a woman commits urder then he ‘Asahah, whoever they may be, must pay the blood money, but they do not inherit anything except that which is left over from her heirs; if a woman is killed then her blood money is to be shared among her heirs, and they may kill her killer. (Hasah)
“The Messenger of Allah ruled that the Diyah for accidental killing is twenty Bint Makhad, twenty Bin Makhad, twenty Bint Labur, twenty Jadh’ah, and twenty Hiqqah.”
a thief who confused to a crime but with whom no stolen goods has been found, was brought to the Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah said to him: “I do not think that you stole anything.”He He said: “Yes I did.” He said: “Take him and cut off his hands, then bring him here, “So they cut off his hand then they brought him to him. He said to him; “Say: I seek the forgiveness of Allah and I repent to Him.” He said: “I seek the forgiveness of Allah and I repent to Him.” He said:: “O Allah, accept his repentance.”(Daif)
a man stole a Burdah of his, so he brought him before the Messenger of Allah, who ordered that his hand be cut off. He said: “O Messenger of Allah, I will let him have it.” He said: “Abu Wahb! Why didn’t you do that before you brought him to us?” And the Messenger of Allah had (the man’s) hand cut off.
“A woman of Quraish, from banu Makhzum, stole, and she was brought to the Prophet. They said: ‘Who will speak to him concerning her?’ They said: ‘Usamah bin Zaid.’ So he came to the Prophet and spoke to him. But he rebuked him, and he said; ‘Among the Children of Israel, if a noble person stole, they would let him go. But if a low-class person stole, they would cut off his hand. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, if Fatimah bint Muhammad were to steal, I would cut off her hand.””
The Prophet said: “None of you has believed until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.”
The Messenger of Allah said: “Any woman who puts on a necklace of gold, Allah will put something similar of fire around her neck. Any woman who puts earrings of gold on her ears, Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, will put earrings of fire on her ears on the Day of Resurrection.”
“Sa’sa’ah bin Suwhan came to ‘Ali and said: ‘Forbid to us from that which the Messenger of Allah forbade to you.’ He said: ‘He forbade us from Ad-Dubba’, Al-Hantam, An-Naqir, Al-Ji’ah, and he forbade us from gold circles (rings), wearing silk, and wearing Al-Qassi, and red Al-Mitharah.'”
“The Messenger of Allah forbade me from rings of gold, garments dyed with safflower, and wearing Al-Qassi, and from reciting Qur’an while bowing.”
He did not allow the wearing of silk except (something) the width of four fingers.
“I saw the Prophet wearing a red Hullah, with his hair combed, and I have never seen anyone before or since, who was more handsome than he.”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Whoever drags his garment out of pride, Allah will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection.'”
The Messenger of Allah said: “The angels do not enter any house in which there is an image.” Busr said: “Then Zaid fell sick and we went to visit him, and on his door there was a curtain on which there was an image. I said to ‘Ubaidullah Al-Khawlani: ‘Didn’t Zaid tell us about images yesterday?’ ‘Ubaidullah said: ‘Didn’t you hear him say: Except for patterns on fabrics?'”
“The Messenger of Allah went out, then he came in, and I had hung up a curtain on which there were (images of) horses with wings. When he saw it, he said: ‘Get rid of it.'”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Khamr comes from these two.'” Suwaid (one of the narrators) said: “From these two trees: The date palm and the grapevine.”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Khamr comes from these two trees: The date palm and the grapevine.'”
“Strong drink is Khamr.”
“Strong drink is Khamr.”
The Prophet forbade a small amount of whatever intoxicates in large amounts.
“I know that the Messenger of Allah was fasting, so I prepared some Nabidh for him to break his fast that I had prepared for him in a gourd. I brought it to him and he said: ‘Bring it here.’ So I brought it closer and it was bubbling. He said: ‘Throw it against the wall (throw it away), for this is the drink of one who does not believe in Allah or the Last Day.'”
That his father used to say: “I do not see any difference between drinking Khamr and worshipping this column instead of Allah the Mighty and Sublime.”
Ibn Ad-Dailami rode looking for ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin Al-‘As. Ibn Ad-Dailami said: “I entered upon him and said: ‘O ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr, did you hear the Messenger of Allah say: If a man among my Ummah drinks Khamr, Allah will not accept his Salah for forty days.'”
“I heard ‘Aishah when some people asked her about Nabidh, saying we soak dates in the morning and drink it in the evening, or we soak them in the evening and drink them in the morning. She said: ‘I do not permit any intoxicant even if it were bread or even if it were water.’ She said that three times.”
When a man who has a wife married a virgin he should stay with her seven nights ; if he marries to a woman who has been previously married he should stay with her three nights. (The narrator said:) If I say that he (Anas) narrated this tradition from the Prophet (ﷺ) I shall be true. But he said: The Sunnah is so-and-so.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: When a man has two wives and he is inclined to one of them, he will come on the Day of resurrection with a side hanging down.
‘Abd Allah (bin Umar) said that he divorced his wife while she was menstruating. ‘Umar mentioned the matter to the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ). The Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) became angry and said “Command him, he must take her back and keep her back till she is purified, then has another menstrual period and is purified. Then if he desires he may divorce her during the period of purity before he has intercourse with her. This is the divorce for waiting period as commanded by Allaah, the Exalted.
Abd Yazid, the father of Rukanah and his brothers, divorced Umm Rukanah and married a woman of the tribe of Muzaynah. She went to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: He is of no use to me except that he is as useful to me as a hair; and she took a hair from her head. So separate me from him. The Prophet (ﷺ) became furious. He called on Rukanah and his brothers. He then said to those who were sitting beside him. Do you see so-and-so who resembles Abdu Yazid in respect of so-and-so; and so-and-so who resembles him in respect of so-and-so? They replied: Yes. The Prophet (ﷺ) said to Abdu Yazid: Divorce her. Then he did so. He said: Take your wife, the mother of Rukanah and his brothers, back in marriage. He said: I have divorced her by three pronouncements, Messenger of Allah. He said: I know: take her back. He then recited the verse: “O Prophet, when you divorce women, divorce them at their appointed periods.” Abu Dawud said: The tradition narrated by Nafi’ b. ‘Ujair and ‘Abd Allah b. Yazid b. Rukanah from his father on the authority of his grandfather reads: Rukanah divorced his wife absolutely (i.e. irrevocable divorce). The Prophet (ﷺ) restored her to him. This version is sounder (than other versions), for they (i.e. these narrators) are the children of his man, and the members of the family are more aware of his case. Rukanah divorced his wife absolutely (i.e. three divorces in one pronouncement) and the Prophet (ﷺ) made it a single divorce.
Abu Dawud said “The opinion of Ibn ‘Abbas has been mentioned in the following tradition. “Ahmad bin Salih and Muhammad bin Yahya narrated this is the version of Ahmad (bin Salih)” from ‘Abd Ar Razzaq from Ma’mar from Al Zuhri from Abu Salamah din Abd Al Rahman bin ‘Awf and Muhammad bin ‘Abd Al Rahman bin Thawban from Muhammad bin Iyas that Ibn ‘Abbas, Abu Hurairah and ‘Abd Alah bin ‘Amr bin Al ‘As were asked about a virgin who is divorced three times by her husband. They all said “She is not lawful for him until she marries a man other than her former husband.” Abu Dawud said “Malik narrated from Yahya bin Sa’id from Bukair bin Al Ashajj from Mu’awiyah bin Abi ‘Ayyash who was present on this occasion when Muhammad bin Iyas bin Al Bukair came to Ibn Al Zubair and Asim in ‘Umar. He asked them about this matter. They replied “Go to Ibn ‘Abbas and Abu Hurairah, I have left them with A’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her). He then narrated the rest of the tradition.” Abu Dawud said “The statement of Ibn ‘Abbas goes “The divorce by three pronouncements separates the wife from husband whether the marriage has been consummated or not, the previous husband is not lawful for her until she marries a man other than her husband”. This statement is like the tradition which deals with the exchange of money. In this tradition the narrator said “Ibn ‘Abbas withdrew his opinion.””
Abu Dawud said “I heard Muhammad bin Isa narrating this tradition who said Mu’tamar narrated it to us. And he (Mu’tamar) said “ I heard Al Hakam bin Aban narrating this tradition. He did not mention the name of Ibn ‘Abbas. Abu Dawud said “Al Hussain bin Huraith wrote to me saying “Al Fadl bin Musa narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas to the same effect from the Prophet(ﷺ).
Ibn ‘Umar said “The Apostle of Allaah(ﷺ) said to the spouses who invoked curses on each other. Your reckoning is in Allaah’s hands for one of you is liar there is no way for you to (remarry) her. He then asked Apostle of Allaah(ﷺ) what about my property? He replied “There is no property for you. If you have spoken the truth, it is the price for your having had the right to intercourse with her and if you have lied against her it is still more remote for you.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The month consists of twenty-nine days, but do not fast till you sight it (the moon) and do not break your fast till you sight it. If the weather is cloudy, calculate it thirty days. When the twenty-ninth of Sha’ban came, Ibn Umar would send someone (who tried) to sight the moon for him. If it was sighted, then well and good; in case it was not sighted, and there was no cloud and dust before him (on the horizon), he would not keep fast the next day. If there appeared (on the horizon) before him cloud or dust, he would fast the following day. Ibn Umar would end his fasting alone with the people, and did not follow this calculation.

The tradition mentioned above (No. 2361) has also been transmitted by Shaddad ibn Aws through a different chain of narrators. This version adds: While Shaddad ibn Aws was walking along with the Prophet (ﷺ)….The narrator then transmitted the rest of the tradition to the same effect.
The Prophet (ﷺ) as saying: A man who cups and a man who gets himself cupped break their fast. Abu Dawud said: Ibn Thawban transmitted a similar tradition from his father on the authority of Makhul through an chain of narrators mentioned by him.
Sufyan and Shu’bah differed among themselves on the name of the narrator Ibn al-Mutawwas and Abu al-Mutawwas.
Abu Hurairah reported the Apostle of Allaah(ﷺ) as saying “The bell is a wooden wind musical instrument of Satan.”
It has been prohibited to ride the beast which eats dung.
The Prophet (ﷺ) named our cavalry “the Cavalry of Allah,” when we were struck with panic, and when panic overtook us, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded us to be united, to have patience and perseverance; and to be so when we fought.
The Prophet (Saws) ordered a horned ram with black legs, black belly and black round the eyes, and it was brought from him to sacrifice. He said: ‘Aishah, get the knife then he said: Sharpen it with a stone. So I did. He took it, then take the ram he placed it on the ground and slaughtered it. He then said: In the name of Allah. O Allah, accept it for Muhammad, Muhammad’s family and Muhammad’s people. Then he sacrificed it.
To remove the injury is the shaving of the head.
The properties of Banu al-Nadir were part of what Allah bestowed on His Apostle from what the Muslims has not ridden on horses or camels to get; so they belonged specially to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) who gave his family their annual contribution. Ibn ‘Abdah said: His family (ahlihi) and not the members of his houses (ahl baitihi) ; then applied what remained for horses and weapons in Allah’s path.
The Prophet (ﷺ) gave az-Zubayr the land as a fief up to the reach of his horse when he runs. He, therefore, made his horse run until it stopped. He then threw his flog. Thereupon he said: Give him (the land) up to the point where his flog has reached.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: A child was born to me at night and I named him Ibrahim after his. He then narrated the rest of the tradition. Anas said: I saw it at the point of the death before the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). Tears began to fall from the eyes of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He said: The eye weeps and the heart grieves, but we say only what our Lord is pleased with, and we are grieved for you, Ibrahim.
By Allah, we did not know whether we should take off the clothes of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as we took off the clothes of our dead, or wash him while his clothes were on him. When they (the people) differed among themselves, Allah cast slumber over them until every one of them had put his chin on his chest. Then a speaker spoke from a side of the house, and they did not know who he was: Wash the Prophet (ﷺ) while his clothes are on him. So they stood round the Prophet (ﷺ) and washed him while he had his shirt on him. They poured water on his shirt, and rubbed him with his shirt and not with their hands. Aisha used to say: If I had known beforehand about my affair what I found out later, none would have washed him except his wives.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came in when his daughter died, and he said: Wash her with water and lotus leaves three or five times or more than that if you think fit, and put camphor, or some camphor in the last washing, then inform me when you finish. When we had finished we informed him, and he threw us his lower garment saying: Put it next to her body. Malik’s version has: that is, his lower garment (izar); and Musaddad did not say: He entered in.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to them while washing her daughter: Begin with her right side, and the places where the ablution is performed.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: If any Muslim dies and three rows of Muslims pray over him, it will assure him (of Paradise). When Malik considered those who accompanied a bier to be a few, he divided them into three rows in accordance with this tradition.
The Ansar came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on the day of Uhud and said: We have been afflicted with wound and fatigue. What do you command us? He said: Dig graves, make them wide, bury two or three in a single grave. He was asked: Which of them should be put first? He replied: The one who knew the Qur’an most. He (Hisham) said: My father Amir died on the day and was buried with two or one.
To the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was brought man wearing ihram who was thrown by his she-camel and has his neck broken and had died. He then said: Shroud him in his two garments, was him with water and lotus leaves, but do not cover his head, for he will be raised on the Day of Resurrection saying the talbiyah. Abu Dawud said: I heard Ahmad b. Hanbal say: There are five rules of the law (sunan) in this tradition: “Shroud him in his two garment,” that is, the dead should be shrouded in his two garments. “Wash him with water and lotus leaves,” that is, washing all times should be with lotus leaves. Do not bring any perfume near him. The shroud will be made from the property (of the dead).
“Shroud him in two garments.” Abu Dawud said: The narrator Sulaiman said the Ayyub said: “his two garments,” ‘Amr said: “tow garments,” Ibn ‘Ubaid said that Ayyub said: “in two garments” and Amr said: “in his two garments.” Sulaiman alone added: “do not put any perfume on him.”
A similar tradition has also been transmitted by Yusuf b. ‘Abd Allah b. Salam through a different chain of narrators.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: If anyone says when swearing an oath: “If Allah wills,” he makes an exception.
My sister took a vow to walk on foot to the House of Allah (i.e. Ka’bah). She asked me to consult the Prophet (ﷺ) about her. So I consulted the Prophet (ﷺ). He said: Let her walk and ride.
(The Prophet asked): Does it contain an idol or was a festival of pre-Islamic times celebrated there ? He replied: No. I said: This mother of mine has taken a vow and walking (is binding on her). May I fulfill it on her behalf ? Sometimes the narrator Bashshar said: May we fulfill in on her behalf ? He said: Yes.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade the sale of fruits till they were clearly in good condition, forbidding it both to the seller and to the buyer.
The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade selling fruits years ahead, and commanded that unforeseen loss be remitted in respect of what is affected by blight. Abu Dawud said: The attribution of the tradition regarding the effect of blight is one-third of the produce to the Prophet (ﷺ) is not correct. This is the opinion of the people of Medina.
We used to employ people to till land for a share of it produce. He then maintained that, one of his uncles came to him and said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade us from a work which beneficial to us. But obedience to Allah and His Apostle (ﷺ) is more beneficial to us. We asked : What is that ? He said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: If anyone has land, he should cultivate it, or lend it to his brother for cultivation. He should not rent it for a third or a quarter (of the produce) or for specified among of produce.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: If anyone sows in other people’s land without their permission, he has no right to any of the crop, but he may have what it cost him.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: None of you must buy in opposition to one another ; and do not go out to meet the merchandise, (but one must wait) till it is brought down to the market.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: Do not go out to meet riders to conduct business with them ; none of you must buy in opposition to one another; and do not tie up the udders of camels and sheep, for he who buys them after that has been done has two courses open to him after milking them: he may keep them if he is pleased with them, or he may return them along with a sa’ of dates is he is displeased with them.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: Each one of the two parties in a business has an option (to annul it) against the other party so long as they have not separated, except in a conditional bargain.
Hakim asked (the Prophet): Messenger of Allah, a man comes to me and wants me to sell him something which is not in my possession. Should I buy it for him from the market? He replied: Do not sell what you do not possess.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The testimony of a nomad Arab against a townsman is not allowable.
“I married Umm Yahya daughter of Abu Ihab. A black woman entered upon us. She said that she had suckled both of us. So I came to the Prophet (ﷺ), and amentioned it to him. He turned away from me. I said (to him): Messenger of Allah! she is a liar. He said: What do you know? She has said what she has said. Separate yourself from her (wife).
Wine comes from these two trees, the date-palm and the grapes-vine. Abu Dawud said : The name of Abu KAthir al-Ubari is Yazid b. ‘Abd al-Rahman b. Ghufailat al-Sahmi. Some said: Uzainah. What is correct is Ghufailah.
If he is not fasting, he should eat, and if he is fasting, he should leave it.
Abdullah ibn Ubaydullah ibn Umayr said: I was with my father in the time of Ibn az-Zubayr sitting beside Abdullah ibn Umar. Then Abbad ibn Abdullah ibn az-Zubayr said: We have heard that the evening meal is taken just before the night prayer. Thereupon Abdullah ibn Umar said: Woe to you! what was their evening meal? Do you think it was like the meal of your father?
The Prophet (ﷺ) prohibited to drink the milk of the animal which feeds on filth.
Al-Faji’ came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and asked: Is not dead meat lawful for us? He said: What is your food? We said: Some food in the evening and some in the morning. AbuNu’aym said: Uqbah explained it to me saying: a cup (of milk) in the morning and a cup in the evening; this does not satisfy the hunger. So made the carrion lawful for them in this condition. Abu Dawud said: Ghabuq is a drink in the evening and Sabuh is a drink in the morning.
If anyone emancipates his share in slave, a fair price for the slave should be fixed, give his partners their shares, and the slave be thus emancipated. Otherwise he is emancipated to the extent of the share which he emancipated.
He will be emancipated to the extent of the share which he emancipated, and sometimes he did not say these words.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: You are more entitled to his price, and Allah has no need of it.
A man of the Ansar called Abu Madhkur declared that his slave called Ya’qub would be free after his death, but he had no other property. So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) called him and said: Who will buy him ? Nu’aim b. ‘Abd Allah b. al-Nahham bought him for eight hundred dirhams. When he handed them over to him, he (Prophet) said: If any of you is poor, he should begin from himself ; if anything is left over, give it to your family; if anything is left over, give it to your relatives ; if anything is left over (when they received something), then here and here.
A man of the Ansar … The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Had I been present before his burial, he would not have been buried in a Muslim cemetry.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade qaza’. Qaza’ means having part of a boy’s head shaved and leaving part unshaven.
the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade qaza’ which means that the head of a boy is shaved and a lock is left.
Salah is near Khaibar.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: A Muslim’s best property will soon be sheep which he will take to the tops of the mountains and the places where the rain falls, fleeing with his religion from the civil strife (fitan).
I came out with the intention of (participating in) fighting. Abu Bakrah met me and said: Go back, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: When two Muslims face each other with their swords, the killer and the slain will go to Hell. He asked: Messenger of Allah, this is the killer (so naturally he should go to Hell), but what is the matter with the slain ? He replied: He intended to kill his companion.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Allah will not fail to detain this community for less than half a day.
A Jewess used to abuse the Prophet (ﷺ) and disparage him. A man strangled her till she died. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) declared that no recompense was payable for her blood.
Cutting of the hand is not be inflicted on one who snatches something. Abu Dawud said : Ibn Juraij did not hear these two traditions from Abu al-Zubair, I have been informed by Ahmad. B. Hanbal saving : Ibn Juraij heard them from Yasin al-Zayyat. Aby Dawud said: Al-Mughirah b. Muslim has transmitted it from Abu al-Zubair from Jabir From the prophet(ﷺ).
On the authority of some men of the Ansar : The Prophet (ﷺ) said to the Jews and started with them: Fifty of you should take the oaths. But they refused (to take the oaths). He then said to the Ansar: Prove your claim. They said: Do we take the oaths without seeing, Messenger of Allah? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) then imposed the blood-wit on the Jews because he (the slain) was found among them.
The price of a male or a female slave is five hundred dirhams. Abu Dawud said: Rabi’ah said: The price of a male or a female slave is fifty dinars.
Between them and their faith.
Qurrah b. Khalid used to tell us: O young people! Do not think that al-Hasan denied predestination, for his opinion (i.e., belief) was sunnah and sight.
Every son of Adam will be devoured by the earth with the exception of the tail-bone from which he was created and from which he will be reconstituted.
He who disapproves is guiltless, and he who disapproves is safe. Qatadah said : it means one who feels its disapproval in his heart, and one who expresses disapproval in his heart.
Zayd ibn Aslam quoted his father as saying: Umar ibn al-Khattab (Allah be pleased with him) struck one of his sons who was given the kunyah AbuIsa, and al-Mughirah ibn Shu’bah had the kunyah AbuIsa. Umar said to him: Is it not sufficient for you that you are called by the kunyah AbuAbdullah? He replied: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave me this kunyah. Thereupon he said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was forgiven all his sins, past and those followed. But we are among the people similar to us. Henceforth he was called by the kunyah AbuAbdullah until he died.
To proceed (amma ba’d)
When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) finished the dawn prayer, he would ask: Did any of you have a dream last night? And he said: All that is left of Prophecy after me is a good vision.
When one of you sees a vision which he dislikes, he must spit on his left (three times), seek refuge in Allah from the devil three times, and turn from the side on which he was lying.
Kill snakes, kill those which have two streaks and those with small tails, for they obliterate the eyesight and cause miscarriage. Salim said: ‘Abd Allah(b. ‘Umar) used to kill every snake which he found. Abu Lubabah or Zaid b. al-Khattab saw him chasing a snake. He said: He(the Prophet) prohibited house-snakes.
the Prophet said: “Wash the vessel the dog has drunk from seven times: the first or the last of them with dirt. And when the cat drinks out of it, wash it once.”
a woman asked Aishah: “Shouldn’t one of us make up her prayers the days of her menstruation?” So she said, “Are you one of the Haruriyyah? Indeed we would menstruate, and we were not ordered to make up.”
“Allah’s Messenger would hasten Zuhr more than you (people), while you (people) hasten Asr more than him.”
“When one of you becomes forgetful in his Salat so that he does not know if he prayed one or two, then let him consider it one. When he does not know if he prayed three or four, then let him consider it three, and let him perform two prostrations before he says the Taslim.”
“The Prophet (S) would pray four Rak’ah before Az-Zuhr and two Rak’ah after it.”
“I can not enumerate (how many times) I heard Allah’s Messenger (S) reciting – in the two Rak’ah after Al-Maghrib and the two Rak’ah before Salatul-Fajr with: Say: “O you disbelievers!” and Say: “He is Allah the One.”
“I prayed two Rak’ah after Al-Maghrib with the Prophet (S) in his house.”
“The Messenger of Allah prostrated for it – meaning (in Surat) An-Najm – and so did the Muslims, the idolaters, the Jinns, and the people.”
“I saw the Messenger of Allah prostrating for (Surat) Sad.” Ibn Abbas said: “It is not one of the resolute prostrations.”
“Whoever acquired wealth, then there is no Zakat on it until the Hawl has passed while it is in his possession.”
“The Messenger of Allah made Sadaqatul-Fitr an obligation upon the male and female, the free and the bondsmen, as a Sa of dried dates or a Sa of barley.” He said: “So the people equated that to half a Sa of wheat.”
“The Prophet broke (the fast) of Arafah, Umm Fadl sent him some milk to drink.”
“I asked Aishah about the Prophet’s fasting.’ She said: ‘He would fast until we said: “He has fasted” and he would abstain from fasting until we said: “He has abstained from fasting.” (She said:) ‘The Messenger of Allah did not fast an entire month except Ramadan.'”
“the Messenger of Allah was cupped while he was fasting and in Ihram.”
The Prophet said: “When one of you is invited to eat then let him respond, if he is fasting then let him pray.” Meaning: supplicate.
he had heard a man from Ash-Sham asking Abdullah bin Umar about Tamattu after Umrah until Hajj, so Abdullah bin Umar said: “It is lawful.” The man from Ash-Sham said: “But your father prohibited it.” So Abdullah bin Umar said: “Is the order to follow my father or is the order (to follow) for the Messenger of Allah?” The man said: “Rather it is for the Messenger of Allah.” So he said: “Indeed the Messenger of Allah did it.”
who said that he saw the Prophet disrobing for his Ihlal and to perform Ghusl.
“A man stood and said ‘O Messenger of Allah! What clothing do you command us to wear in Al-Haram?’ The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Do not wear shirts, nor pants, nor burnooses, nor turbans, nor Khuff – unless one does not have any sandals, then let him wear Khuff, but let him cut them below the ankles. And do not wear any cloth that has been touched by saffron or Wars. And the woman in Ihram is not to cover her face, nor wear gloves.'”
“The Messenger of Allah was cupped while he was a Muhrim.”
“The Prophet married Maimunah while he was a Muhrim.”
“Whoever performed Tawaf around the House fifty time, he will be as free of his sins as the day his mother bore him.”
“I came to the Messenger of Allah at Al-Muzdalifah when he left for the Salat. I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! I came from the two mountains of (the tribe of) Tai, wearing out my mount and exhausting myself. By Allah! I did not leave a Habl (sand dune) without stopping on it. So is there Hajj for me?’ The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Whoever attends this Salat of ours, and stays here with us until departing, while he has stood during the night or the day before that at Arafat, then he has completed his Hajj and fulfilled his Tafath.'”
The Messenger of Allah said: “Whoever assumes Ihram for Hajj and Umrah, then it is acceptable for him to perform one Tawaf and one Sa’I for them both, until he exits Ihram for both of them together.”
“We were with the Messenger of Allah on a journey when he saw a man fall from his camel, his neck was broken and he died, and he was a Muhrim. So the Messenger of Allah said: ‘Wash him with water and Sidr, and shroud him in his garments, and do not cover his head. For indeed he will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment saying the Talbiyah.'”
“Ibn Abbas performed Salat for a funeral and he recited Fatihatil-Kitab. So I asked him about it and he said: ‘It is from the Sunnah’ or, ‘From the completeness of the Sunnah.'”
“We practiced Azl while the Qur’an was being revealed.”
“The Messenger of Allah gave us the choice, so we chose him. So was that a divorce?”
The Messenger of Allah said: “There is no vow for the son of Adam over what he has no control, and there is no emancipating he can do for one whom he does not own, and there is no divorce for him regarding that which he has no control over.”
The wife of Thabit bin Qais was granted a Khul from her husband during the time of the Prophet. So the Prophet ordered her to observe an Iddah of a menstruation.
Al-Furay’ah bint Malik bin Sinan – the sister of the Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri – informed her that she went to the Messenger of Allah to ask him if she could return to her family in Banu Khudrah. Her husband had gone out searching for his runaway slaves, and when he was in Turaf Al-Qadum he caught up with them and they killed him. She said: “So I asked the Messenger of Allah if I could return to my family since my husband had not left me a home that he owned nor any maintenance.” She said: “So the Messenger of Allah said: ‘Yes.’ Then I left. When I was in the courtyard,” or, “in the Masjid, the Messenger of Allah called me” or, “summoned for me to come back t him and he said: ‘What did you say?'” She said: “So I repeated the store that I had mentioned to him about the case of my husband. He said: ‘Stay in your house until what is written reaches its term.'” She said: “So I observed my Iddah there for four months and ten (days).” She said: “During the time of Uthman, he sent a message to me asking me about that, so I informed him. He followed it and judged accordingly.”
That the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever purchased an animal that has not been milked, then he the choice when he milks it, if he wishes he may return it, returning a Sa’ of dried dates along with it.” There are narration on this topic from Anas, and a man from the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ).
“I was throwing stones at a date-palm belonging to some of the Ansar. They took me along with them to the Prophet (ﷺ). He said: “O Rafi’! Why were you throwing stones at their date-palm?'” He said: “I said: ‘Out of hunger, O Messenger of Allah! He said: ‘Do not throw stones at them, eat what falls. May Allah fill you and quench your thirst.'” This Hadith is Hasan Gharib Sahih.
That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “None of you is to sell over the sale of others, nor to propose over the proposal of others.” There are narration on this topic from Abu Hurairah and Samurah. The Hadith of Ibn ‘Umar is a Hasan Sahih Hadith. And it has been reported from the Prophet (ﷺ) that he said: “Do not haggle in competition with your brother’s haggling.” And the meaning of sale in this Hadith of the Prophet (ﷺ), according to some of the people of knowledge is to haggle.
From Zaid bin Thabit that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) permitted selling in Al-‘Araya by estimating it. This Hadith is Hasan Sahih. The Hadith of Abu Hurairah is Hasan Sahih. And this is acted upon according to some of the people of knowledge. Among them Ash-Shafi’i, Ahmad and Ishaq. They said Al-‘Araya is an exception from the general scope of the prohibition of the Prophet (ﷺ) when he prohibited Al-Muhaqalah and Al-Muzabanah. They argued using this Hadith of Zaid bin Thabit and the Hadith of Abu Hurairah. They said that he may buy what is less than five Wasq. According to some of the people of knowledge, this means that the Prophet (ﷺ) wanted to make less restriction for them on this matter because they complained to him saying: “We dont by anything with dried dates except fruit.” So he permitted them to buy less than five Wasq worth so they could eat fresh dates.
(Another chain) from Abu Maryam the Companion of the Prophet (ﷺ), from the Prophet (ﷺ).
“The lifelong gift is permitted for its inhabitant, and the Ruqba is permitted for its inhabitant.”
“Whoever owns a related Mahram, then he is free.”
That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) lashed and banished, Abu Bakr lashed and banished, and ‘Umar lashed and banished.
“I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! We send our trained dogs to catch game for us.’ He said: ‘Eat what it catches for you.’ I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, and if they kill it?’ He said: ‘Even if they kill it, as long as they are not accompanied by some other dogs besides them.'” He said: “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! We hunt with the Mir’ad.’ He said: ‘Eat of the game what the Mir’ad pierces, but whatever is struck by its broad side, then do not eat it.'”
That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave him sheep to distribute among his Companions as a sacrifice. “There remained a young male kid or a young billy goat, so I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he said: ‘Sacrifice it for yourself.'” Waki’ said: “The Jadha’ among sheep is seven or six months.”
That the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever vowed to obey Allah, then he should obey Him. And whoever vowed to disobey Allah, then he should not disobey Him.”
From his father (Ibn ‘Umar) that the Prophet (ﷺ) heard ‘Umar saying: “By my father, By my father!” So he said: “Verily Allah prohibits you from swearing by your father.” So ‘Umar said: “By Allah I did not swear by him after that, neither intentionally nor in narrating.”
That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “(Ribat) Guarding the frontier for a day in the cause of Allah is better than the world and what is in it. And an afternoon the worshipper spends in the cause of Allah – or a morning – is better than the world and what is on it. And the space occupied by the whip of one of you in Paradise is better than the world and what is on it.” This Hadith is Hasan Sahih.
From one who heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying: “If you suffer a surprise attack from the enemy then say: ‘Ha Min, they will not be victorious.'” There is something on this topic from Salamah bin Al-Akwa’. This is how some of them reported it from Abu Ishaq, the same as the narration of Ath-Thawri. And it has been reported from him, from Al-Muhallab bin Abi Sufrah from the Prophet (ﷺ) in Mursal form.
“During the year of the conquest, when the Prophet (ﷺ) reached Marr Zahran, he told us that we would meet the enemy. So he ordered us to break the fast, and we broke our fast.” This Hadith is Hasan Sahih, and there is something on this topic from Ibn ‘Umar.
That he heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying: “Seek your weak for me. For indeed you sustenance and aid is only by your weak.” This Hadith is Hasan Sahih.
“I saw Ibn Rafi’ said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wore a ring on his right hand.” He said: Muhammad said: “This is the most correct thing related from the Prophet (ﷺ) on this topic.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had a ring made from silver, so he had ‘Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah’ engraved on it. Then he said: ‘Do not engrave with it.’ This Hadith is Sahih Hasan. As for the meaning of his saying: “Do not engrave with it” – he was prohibiting that anyone have “Muhammad, Messenger of Allah” engraved on his ring.
From his father: “The Prophet (ﷺ) prohibited using predator skins as a spread.”
“The garment the Messenger (ﷺ) like most to wear was the Hibrah.” This Hadith is Hasan Sahih Gharib.
From Salim, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “When one of you eats, then let him eat with his right hand, and let him drink with his right hand, for indeed Ash-Shaitan eats with his left hand, and he drinks with his left hand.”
“The Prophet (ﷺ) prohibited the Mujath-thamah, the milk of the Jallalah, and drinking from the sprout of the water-skin.”
“The believer is not one who curses others.”
“Indeed among the worst of people to Allah, on the Day of Judgment, is the two faced person.”
“There is no forbearance except for the one who stumbled, and there is no wisdom except for the one who has experience.” (Dai’f)
“”U’idhukuma bikalimatillahi-tammati,min kulli shaitanin wa hammatin, wa minkulli’ainin lammah (I seek refuge for the two of you in the Perfect Words of Allah, from every devil and every poisonous pest, and from every harmful eye).” And he would say: “It is with this that Ibrahim would seek refuge for Ishhaq and Ismail .” Another chain reports a similar narration.
“It is not lawful for a man to give a gift and then take it back, except in the case of the father with what he gave to his son. And the parable of the one who gives a gift, and then takes it back, is that of a dog who eats until he is full, and vomits, then he returns to his vomit.” This Hadith is Hasan Sahih. Ash-Shafi’i said: “It is not lawful for one who confers something to take it back, except in the case of the father. He may take back what he gave his son” and he used this Hadith as proof.
“One night the Prophet (ﷺ) awoke and said, ‘Subhan Allah! How many Fitan (trials and afflictions) have descended tonight. And how many treasures have been disclosed? Who will awaken the women sleeping in these dwellings? O! How many are clothed in this world, yet naked in the Hereafter.'”
“A man is coming from the people of my family whose name agrees with my name.” ‘Asim said: “Abu Salih narrated to us from Abu Hurairah, who said: ‘If there did not remain in the world but one day, then Allah would extend that day until he comes.'”
“O you people False witness is tantamount to Shirk with Allah” Then the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w)recited: So shun the Rijs of the idols, and shun false speech.
the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) went out one day accompained by Abu Bakr and ‘Umar. And he mentioned similar to Hadith( no 2369) in meaning, but he did not mention “from Abu Hurairah” in it.
“Seek refuge in Allah from the Pit of Sorrows.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah! What is the Pit of Sorrows?” He said: “gorge in Hell from which Hell seeks Allah’s refuge a Hundred times every day.” It was said: “O Messenger of Allah! Who shall enter it?” He said: “The reciters who were showing off with their deeds.”
“Seven shall be shaded by Allah under his shade on a day in which there is no shade except His Shade: A just Imam, a young person raised upon worshiping Allah, a man whose heart is attached to the Masjid when he leaves from it until he returns from it, two men who love each other for Allah’s sake, coming together upon that, and parting upon that, a man who remembers Allah in privacy and his eyes swell with tears, a man invited by a woman of status and beauty, but he says: ‘I fear Allah, Mighty and Sublime is He,’ and a man who conceals the charity he gives such that his left hand does not know what his right hand has spent.”
“The first batch to enter Paradise will appear like the moon of a night that it is full, they do not spit, nor do their noses run, nor do they defecate. Their vessels are of gold, their combs are of silver and gold, their perfume is of Aluwwah, and their sweat is musk. Each one of them has two wives, so beautiful that the marrow of their shins can be seen through the flesh. There is no differing among them nor mutual hatred, and their hearts are like the heart of one man, and they glorify Allah morning and evening.”
that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “There are six courtesies due from a Muslim to another Muslim: To give Salam to him when he meets him, to accept his invitation when he invites him, to reply to him when he sneezes, to visit him when he is ill, to follow his funeral when he dies, and to love for him what he loves for himself.”
“One of the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) pitched a tent on a grave without knowing that it was a grave. Suddenly he heard a person from the grave reciting Surah al-Mulk till he completed it. So he went to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: ‘Oh Messenger of Allah, I pitched my tent on a grave without realizing that is was a grave. Then suddenly I heard a person from the grave reciting Surah al-Mulk till he completed it.’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘It is the defender, it is the deliverer – it delivers from the punishment of the grave.'”
“The Prophet (ﷺ) would recite: ‘Innahu ‘Amila Ghaira Salih.'”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recited: And warn them of a Day of griefs and regrets (19:39) and he said: ‘Death will be brought as if it is a mixed black and white ram, until it is halted upon the barrier between Paradise and the Fire. It will be said: ‘O people of Paradise! They will raise up their necks to look. It will be said: ‘O people of the Fire! And they will raise up their necks to look. It will be said: ‘Do you recognize this?’ They will say: ‘Yes. This is death.’ Then it will be laid down and slaughtered. If it were not that Allah had decreed that the inhabitants of Paradise would remain, then they would die of joy, and if it were not that Allah had decreed that the inhabitants of the Fire would remain, then they would die of grief.'”
When the Prophet (ﷺ) used to eat or drink, he would say: “All praise is due to Allah who fed us and gave us drink, and made us Muslims (Al-ḥamdulillāh, alladhī aṭ`amanā, wa saqānā, wa ja`alanā muslimīn).”
“Ask Allah of His Bounty. For verily, Allah the Mighty and Sublime, loves to be asked, and the best of worship is awaiting relief.”
“We went out on a rainy and extremely dark night, looking for the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), so that he could lead us in Salat.” He said: “So I met him and he (ﷺ) said: ‘Speak’ but I did not say anything. Then he (ﷺ) said: ‘Speak.’ But I did not say anything. He (ﷺ) said: ‘Speak.’ So I said: ‘What should I say?’ He (ﷺ) said: ‘Say: “Say: He is Allah, the One” and Al-Mu`awwidhatain, when you reach evening, and when you reach morning, three times, they will suffice you against everything.’”
that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Aslam, Ghifar, and Muzainah are better than Tamim, Asad, Ghatafan, and Banu ‘Amir bin Sa’sa’ah,” prolonging his voice when saying it. So the people said: “They have been treacherous and have lost.” He said: “So these are better than them.”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘When a person performs ablution and washes his hands, his sins exit through his hands. When he washes his face, his sins exit through his face. When he washes his forearms and wipes his head, his sins exit though his forearms and head. When he washes his feet, his sins exit through his feet.'”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘For cleaning yourself you need three stones, no one of them being dung.'”
“The Messenger of Allah performed ablution and wiped his head twice.”
The Messenger of Allah slept until he was breathing deeply, then he got up and prayed.
“The Prophet came out and met me when I was sexually impure, so I kept away from him. Then I had a bath and came to him. He said: ‘What is the matter with you?’ I said: ‘I was sexually impure.’ The Messenger of Allah said: ‘The Muslim does not become impure.'”
“I performed prayer with the Prophet (ﷺ) and when he said: ‘Nor of those who went astray’, he said Amin and we heard that from him.”
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to sit during prayer, putting his hands on his knees and raising his right finger which was next to his thumb, supplicating with it, and with his left hand (spread out) on his knee.
“The Prophet (ﷺ) used to pray at night, and I was laying between him and the prayer direction, as a (body for a) funeral horizontally.’”
It was narrated from Zainab bint Umm Salamah that her mother said that her bed was in front of the place where the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prostrated.
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade a man to cover his mouth during the prayer.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Allah and His angels send blessings upon the right side of the rows.’”
“Whoever abandons Friday deliberately, let him give a Dinar in charity, and if he cannot afford that, then (let him give) half a Dinar.”
“The sun rises between the two horns of Satan” or he said “The two horns of Satan rise with it, and when it has risen, Satan parts from it. When it is in the middle of the sky he accompanies it, then when it has crossed the zenith he parts from it. When it is about to set, he accompanies it, and when it has set he parts from it. So do no pray at these three times.”
“Offer prayer on time, and if you reached the Imam leading them in prayers (on time), then perform it with them, and you will be safe with your prayer, otherwise it will be voluntary for you.”
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas and ‘Aishah that Abu Bakr kissed the Prophet (ﷺ) when he died.
“The best of your garments are those which are white, so shroud your dead in them, and wear them.”
It was narrated from Kathir bin ‘Abdullah, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said the Takbir five times.
“He is not one of us who tears his garments, strikes his cheeks, and cries with the cry of the Days of Ignorance.’”
“There is no Muslim who is stricken with a calamity and reacts by saying as Allah has commanded: ‘Inna lillahi, wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Allahumma indaka ahtasabtu musibati, fajurni fiha, wa ‘awwidni minha (Truly, to Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return. O Allah, with You I seek reward for my calamity, so reward me for it and compensate me),’ but Allah will reward him for that and compensate him with something better than it.” She said: “When Abu Salamah died, I remembered what he had told me from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and I said: ‘Inna lillahi, wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Allahumma indaka ahtasabtu musibati, fajurni alaiha (Truly, to Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return. O Allah, with You I seek reward for my calamity, so reward me for it).’ But when I wanted to say wa ‘awwidni minha (and compensate me with better), I said to myself: ‘How can I be compensated with something better than Abu Salamah?’ Then I said it, and Allah compensated me with Muhammad (ﷺ) and rewarded me for my calamity.”
“At the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), if a person stood to pray, his gaze would not go beyond his feet. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) died, if a person stood to pray, his gaze would not go beyond the place where he put his forehead when prostrating. Then Abu Bakr died and it was ‘Umar (the caliph). So, when any person stood to pray his gaze would not go beyond the Qiblah. Then came the time of ‘Uthman bin ‘Affan, and there was Fitnah (tribulation, turmoil), and the people started to look right and left.”
that from every twenty Dinar or more. The Prophet used to take half a Dinar and from forty Dinar, one Dinar.
Aishah said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) say: ‘There is not Zakat on wealth until Hawl (one year) has passed.’ ”
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Al-hamdu lillahi nahmadhu wa nasta`inuhu wa na`udhu billahi min shururi anfusina wa min sayi’ati a`malina, man yahdihillahu fala mudilla lahu, wa man yudlil fala hadiya lahu. Wa ashadu an la ilaha illallahu wahduhu la sharika lahu, wa anna Muhammadan `abduhu wa rasuluhu. Amma ba`d. (Praise is to Allah, we praise Him and we seek His help. We seek refuge with Allah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds, Whomsoever Allah guides will never be led astray; and whomsoever is led astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that none has the right to be worshiped but Allah, alone with no partner or associate, and that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. To proceed).”
that the Prophet said: “Announce this marriage, and beat the sieve for it.”
the Messenger of Allah said: “Omens are only to be found in three things: a horse, a woman and a house.” (Sahih)(One of the narrators) Az-Zuhri said: ” Abu ‘Ubaidah bin ‘Abdullah bin Zam’ah said that his mother, Zainab, narrated to him, from Umm Salamah, that she used to list these three, and add to them “the sword.”
“The Messenger of Allah swore to keep away from his wives and declared them as unlawful for him, so he made something permissible forbidden, and he offered expiation for having sworn to do so.”
“Whoever takes an oath to cut off the ties of kinship, or to do something that is not right, the fulfillment of his vow is not to do that.”
the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade the deal involving earnest money .
“Do not sell fruits until they have ripened.” And he forbade (both) the seller and the purchaser (to engage in such a transaction).
“Do not sell fruits until they have ripened.”‘
“I heard Abu Saeed Al-Khudri say: ‘A Dirham for a Dirham and a Dinar for a Dinar.’ So I said: ‘I heard Ibn ‘Abbas say something other than that.’ He said: ‘But I met Ibn ‘Abbas and said: “Tell me about what you say concerning exchange is it something that you heard from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) or something that You found in the Book of Allah?” He said: “I did not find it in the Book of Allah, and I did not hear it from the Messenger of Allah; rather Usamah bin Zaid told me that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Usury is only in credit.”
“When you have paid in advance for something, do not exchange it for something else.” (Da’if)Another chain with similar wording.
“When you come to a shepherd, call him three times. If he answers (all well and good), otherwise drink (milk from the flock) without taking advantage. And when you come to a garden call the owner of the garden three times. If he answers (all well and good), otherwise eat (from the produce of the garden) without taking advantage.”
“The curse of Allah is upon the one who offers a bribe and the one who takes it.”
“I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘Borrowed items are to be returned and an animal borrowed for milking is to be returned.’ ”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade Muhaqalah and Muzabanah, and said: ‘Only three may cultivate: A man who has land which he cultivates a man who was given some land and cultivates what he was given; and a man who takes land on lease for gold or silver.’ ”
“I heard Ibn ‘Umar say: ‘We used to lend land for cultivation in return for a share of the harvest, and we did not see anything wrong with that, until we heard Rafi’ bin Khadij say: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade it.” Then we stopped because of what he said.’ ”
“What is this noise?” They said: “Palm trees that are being pollinated.” He said: “If they did not do that it would be better.” So they did not pollinate them that year, and the dates did not mature properly. they mentioned that to the Prophet (ﷺ) and he said: “If it is one of the matters of your religion, then refer to me.”
“Every division that was allocated according to (the rules of) the Ignorance days, stands as it is, and every division that was allocated according to (the rules of) Islam, stands according to the rules of Islam.”
the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ruled concerning one, two or three date palms belonging to a man among other palm trees – when they differ concerning entitlement to the surrounding land. He ruled that the land around each of those trees, as far as their leaves reach, measured from the bottom of the tree, belongs to the owner of the tree.
“Allah (SWT) will not accept any good deed from a polytheist who committed polytheism after having become Muslim, until he leaves the polytheists and joins the Muslims.”
“Ward off the legal punishments as much as you can.”
“No person is killed wrongfully, but a share of responsibility for his blood will be upon, the first son of Adam, because he was the first one to kill.”
“A man stood up and said to the Prophet (ﷺ): ‘O Messenger of Allah! What makes Hajj obligatory?’ He said: ‘Provision and a mount.’ He said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is the (real) Hajj?’ He said: ‘The one with dishevelled hair and no perfume.’ Another (man) stood up and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is the (real) Hajj?’ He said: ‘Raising one’s voice and slaughtering the sacrificial animal.’”
‘ ‘Umrah during Ramadan is equivalent to Hajj (i.e., in reward).’”
“I went out with Abu Sa’eed Az- Zuraqi, the Companion of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), to buy animals or sacrifice.” Yunus said: “Abu Sa’eed pointed to a ram that had some blackness around its ears and jaw, and was neither too big nor too small, and said to me: ‘Buy this one for them, as it seems to resemble the ram of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).’”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade tipping up water skins. After the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had forbidden that, a man got up at night and tipped up a water skin, and a snake fell out of it onto him.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade blowing into the vessel.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘You should use antimony, for it improves the eyesight and makes the hair (eyelashes) grow.’”
“Kill snakes, and kill Dhit-Tufytain* and the Abtar**, for they take away the sight and cause miscarriage.” *A snake that has two white stripes on its back. **A snake with a short or mutilated tail.
“The wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) were allowed to let their hems hang down, so they used to come to us and we would measure one forearms length for them with a reed.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded that use should be made of the skins of dead animals, if they were tanned.”
“The Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) forbade giving our slaves four names: Aflah (successful), Nafi’ (beneficial), Rabah (profit) and Yasar(prosperity).”
“I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, tell me of a (good) deed, for I have become old and weak and overweight.’ He said: ‘Proclaim the greatness of Allah (say Allahu Akbar) one hundred times, praise Allah (say Al-Hamdu Lillah) one hundred times, and glorify Allah (say Subhan-Allah) one hundred times. (That is) better than one hundred horses bridled and saddled for the sake of Allah, better than one hundred sacrificial camels, and better than (freeing) one hundred slaves.'”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to visit the sick, attend funerals, accept the invitations of slaves and ride donkeys. On the day (of the battle) of Quraizah and Nadir, he was riding a donkey. On the day of Khaibar he was riding a donkey that was bridled with palmfibers and beneath him was a packsaddle made of palmfibers.”
“Whenever Ibn ‘Umar heard a Hadith from the Messanger of Allah (ﷺ), he would not do more than it said, and he would not do less.”
