Sunan al-Nasa'i — The Book of the Adhan (The Call to Prayer)

“I came to the Prophet (S.A.W) with a cousin of mine” – on an another occasion he said: “with a companion of mine” – “and he said: ‘When the two of you travel, call the Adhan and the Iqamah, and let the older of you lead the prayer.'”

“I heard Allah’s Messenger saying: there is no Wudu for one who does not mention Allah’s Name over it.”

Isma’il ibn Ulayyah narrated to him from Ibn Juraij. This latter chain is more correct.

Allah’s Messenger said: “Whoever forgets a Salat then he is to pray it when he remembers it.”

Allah’s Messenger sat with him and taught him the Adhan word for word. Ibrahim said, “It is the same as our Adhan.” Bishr said: “So I said to him, ‘Repeat it to me.’ So he described the Adhan with At-Tarjl’.”

They were with the Prophet (S) on a journey. They wound up in a narrow area when Salat became due. Then it began raining from the sky above them, and it was wet beneath them. So Allah’s Messenger (S) called the Adhan while he was on his mount, and then the Iqamah, going forward on his mount. He let them in Salat by making gestures, making his prostrations lower than his bowing.

Allah’s Messenger (S) said: “There is no Salat after Al-Fajr (begins) except two prostrations.”

The Messenger of Allah said: “Whoever stays with a people, then he is not to fast without their permission.”

“See if he has any heirs.” They said: “No.” He said: ‘Pay it to someone among the people of the town.”

“When the people would see the first fruit, they would bring it to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would take it, he would say: ‘O Allah, bless for us our fruits, and bless for us our city, and bless for us our Sa` and our Mudd, O Allah, verily, Ibrahim is Your worshipper and Your friend and Your Prophet, and verily I am Your slave and Your Prophet, and indeed, he (i.e., Ibrahim AS) supplicated to You for Makkah, and I supplicate to You for Al-Madinah with the like of that with which he supplicated to You for Makkah, and the like of it with it.’ He said: Then he would call the smallest young child he saw and give him that fruit.

The Prophet (ﷺ) visited a man who was so emaciated that he had become like a baby bird. He (ﷺ) said to him: “And did you not used to supplicate? Did you not used to ask Your Lord for sound health?” He said: “I used to say: “O Allah, whatever You are going to punish me with in the Hereafter, then hasten it for me in this world.” So the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Glory is to Allah, you are not capable of that” – or – “you are not able to stand that. Would you not say: ‘O Allah, give us good in this world, and good in the Hereafter, and spare us the punishment of the Fire (Allāhumma ātinā fid-dunyā ḥasanatan wa fil ākhirati ḥasanatan wa qinā `adhāban-nār).’”

“Whoever abandons Friday (prayer) three times, neglecting it, a seal will be placed over his heart.”

It was narrated from Ubayy bin Ka’b that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray Witr and he would recite Qunut before Ruku’.

“When the Messenger of Allah (saw prayed the two (Sunnah) Rak’ah of Fajr, he would lie down.”

“The Prophet (ﷺ) used to pray thirteen Rak’ah at night.”

“The one who fasts Ramadan while traveling is like one who breaks his fast when not traveling.” Abu Ishaq said: “This Hadith is of no significance.”

“Whoever bears weapons against us is not one of us.’”

“The Prophet (S.A.W.) cut off (the hand of a thief) for a shield worth three Dirham.”
