The Book of Fasting · Narrated by Hamza bin 'Amr al-Aslami · Sahih
Messenger of Allah, I find strength in me for fasting on a journey; is there any sin upon me (in doing it)? Thereupon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: It is a concession from Allah. He who took advantage of it, it is good for him, and he who preferred to observe fast, there is no sin upon him. Harun (one of the narrators) in his narration said: ‘lt is a concession, and he made no mention of” from Allah”.

“The Messenger of Allah went out to Makkah, and he fasted until he came to ‘Usfan. Then he called for a cup and drank.” (One of the narrators) Shubah said: “(That was) in Ramadan. Ibn ‘Abbas used to say: ‘Whoever wants to fast, may fast, and whoever wants to break may break his fast.”‘

“It was said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, so and so never broke his fast, even for one day for the rest of his life.’ He said: ‘He has neither fasted nor broken his fast.”” ‘Ata said: “someone who heard him told me that Ibn ‘Umar (said) that the Prophet said: ‘Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted.”

Hamzah bin Amr Al-Aslami asked the Messenger of Allah about fasting while traveling, and he fasted regularly. So the Messenger of Allah said: ‘If you wish then fast, and if you wish then break (the fast).'”
