That he went with Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) to the house of Maimuna, who was his and Ibn `Abbas’ aunt. He found with her a roasted mastigure which her sister Hufaida bint Al-Harith had brought from Najd. Maimuna presented the mastigure before Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) who rarely started eating any (unfamiliar) food before it was described and named for him. (But that time) Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) stretched his hand towards the (meat of the) mastigure whereupon a lady from among those who were present, said, “You should inform Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) of what you have presented to him. O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! It is the meat of a mastigure.” (On learning that) Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) withdrew his hand from the meat of the mastigure. Khalid bin Al-Walid said, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! Is this unlawful to eat?” Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) replied, “No, but it is not found in the land of my people, so I do not like it.” Khalid said, “Then I pulled the mastigure (meat) towards me and ate it while Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) was looking at me.
“A roasted mastigure was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ) who stretched his hand towards it to eat it. But it was said to him, “It is a mastigure.” So he withdrew his hand. Khalid asked, “Is it unlawful to eat?” the Prophet said, “No, but it is not found in the land of my people and that is why I do not like eating it.” So Khalid started eating (it) while Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) was looking at him. An-Nadr said: ‘Al-Khazira’ (is prepared) from bran while ‘Al-Harira’ is prepared from milk.
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and I entered the house of Maimuna. A roasted mastigure was served. Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) stretched his hand out (to eat of it) but some woman said, “Inform Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) of what he is about to eat.” So they said, “It is mastigure, O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)!” He withdrew his hand, whereupon I said, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! Is it unlawful?” He said, “No, but this is not found in the land of my people, so I dislike it.” So I pulled the mastigure towards me and ate it while Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) was looking at me.
” Ibn al-Asamm narrated it from Maimuna and he was under her care.”
” I heard ‘Adiyy bin Hatim say: ‘I asked the Messenger of Allah about the Mirad and he said: “If the sharp point hits 9the game) then eat, bu8t if the broad edge of it hits it, and it is killed, then it has been killed by a blow, so do not eat.”
“I asked the Messenger of Allah about hunting with the Mirad and the said: ‘If the sharp edge hits (the game), then eat, but if the broad edge of it strikes it, do not eat it.”‘
“A man brought a mastigure to the Messenger of Allah and he started looking at it, and turning it over. He said: ‘A nation was transformed, it is not known what they did, and I do not know if this is one of them.”

The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by ‘Awf bin Malik Al Ashja’I through a different chain of narrators.
On the day of Khaybar we slaughtered horses, mules, and assess. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade us (to eat) mules and asses, but he did not forbid horse-flesh.
Ibn ‘Abbas said that his maternal aunt presented to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) clarified butter, lizards and cottage cheese. He ate from clarified butter and cheese, but left the lizard abominably. It was eaten on the food cloth of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). Had it been unlawful, it would not have been eaten on the food cloth of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).
On the day of Khaybar the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prohibited eating every beast of prey, and every bird with a talon.
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Whoever removes something harmful from the mosque, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.'”
“A hand span.” ‘Aishah said: “This may show her calves.” He said: “Then a forearm’s length.”
“I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and this part of his hair was white” – meaning the tuft of hair between the lower lip and the chin.
