“By the One in Whose Hand is my soul! I nearly ordered that firewood be gathered to be lit, then I would have ordered that the Adhan be called for prayer, and ordered a man to lead the people in prayer, then I would have gone from behind to those men and burned their houses down over them. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul! If any one of them knew that he would get a meaty bone or some meat in between two ribs, he would attend Isha’.”
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The one who learns the Quran is like the owner of a hobbled camel. If he pays attention to it, he will keep it, but if he releases it, it will go away.”
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “It is not right for any one of you to say: ‘I have forgotten such and such a verse.’ Rather, he has been caused to forget. Study the Qur’an, for it escapes from the heart of man faster than a camel escapes from its fetter. “
He came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and stood by his side, and he said: “Allahu Akbar Dhul-malakut wal-jabarut wal-kibriya’ wal ‘azamah (Allah is Most Great, the One Who has all sovereignty, power, magnificence, and might.)” Then he recited Al-Baqarah, then he bowed, and his bowing lasted almost as long as his standing, and he said when bowing: ‘Subahana Rabbial-‘azim, Subhana Rabbial-‘azim (Glory be to my Lord Almighty, Glory be to my Lord Almighty).” When he raised his head he said: “Li Rabbial-hamd, Li Rabbial-hamd (To my Lord be praise, to my Lord be praise).” And when he prostrated he said: “Subahana Rabbial-A’la, Subahna Rabbial-A’la (Glory be to my Lord Most High, glory be to my Lord Most High).” And between the two prostrations he would say: “Rabbighfirli, Rabbighfirli (Lord forgive me, Lord forgive me).”
‘The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led the people in prayer. He stood for a long time, then he bowed for a long time, then he stood for a long time, but it was shorter than the first standing, then he bowed for a long time but it was shorter than the first bowing. Then he stood up, then he prostrated, then he did the same in the second rak’ah, and when he finished the eclipse had ended. Then he addressed the people; he praised and glorified Allah (SWT), then he said: The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah (SWT). They do not become eclipsed for the death or birth of anyone. If you see that then call upon Allah (SWT), the Mighty and Sublime, and magnify Him, and give charity. Then he said: ‘O Ummah of Muhammad! There is no one more jealous than Allah (SWT), the Mighty and Sublime, when his male or female slave commits zina. O Ummah of Muhammad! By Allah, if you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much.'”
“Whoever prays twelve rak’ahs in a day, a house will be built for him in Paradise.”
“When any one of you sees a funeral and is not walking with it, let him stand up until it has passed him, or until (the body) is placed (in the grave) before if passes him.”
“Whoever fasts during Ramadan” and according to the Hadith of Qutaibah, the Prophet said: “Whoever spends the nights of Ramadan in prayer (Qiyam) out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will be forgiven his previous sins, and whoever spends the night of Lailat Al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will be forgiven his previous sins.” ‘
“Hamzah asked the Messenger of Allah: ‘O Messenger of Allah, should I fast while then fast and if you wish then do not fast.”‘
“We set out with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) thinking that it was for nothing other than Hajj.”
It was narrated from ‘Amr bin Shu’aib, from his father, from his grandfather, that Marthad bin Abi Marthad Al-Ghanawi –a strong man who used to take the prisoners from Makkah to Al-Madinah– said: “I arranged with a man to bring him (from Makkah to Al-Madinah). There was a prostitute in Makkah who was called ‘Anaq, and she was his friend. She came out and saw my shadow on the wall, and said: ‘Who is this? Marthad? Welcome, O Marthad, come tonight and stay at our place.’ I said: ‘O ‘Anaq, the Messenger of Allah has forbidden adultery.’ She said: ‘O people of the tents, this porcupine is the one who is taking your prisoners from Makkah to Al-Madinah!’ I headed toward (the mountain of) Al-Khandamah, and eight men came after me. They came and stood over my head, and they urinated, and their urine reached me, but Allah caused them not to see me. Then I went to my companion (the prisoner) and brought him to Al-Arak, where I undid his fetters. Then I came to the Messenger of Allah and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, shall I marry ‘Anaq?’ He remained silent and did not answer me, then the following was revealed: ‘And the adulteress-fornicator, none marries her except an adulterer-fornicator or an idolater.’ He called me and recited them to me and said: ‘Do not marry her.'”
“I bought Barirah and her masters stipulated that her Wala’ should go to them. I mentioned that to the Prophet and he said: ‘Set her free, and Al-Wala’ is to the one who pays the silver.’ So I set her free and the Messenger of Allah called her and gave her the choice concerning her husband. She said: ‘Even if you gave me such and such, I would not stay with him,’ so she chose herself and her husband was a free man.”
a Jew killed a young girl for her jewelry, so the Messenger of Allah killed him in retaliation for her.
His nose was cut off at the battle of Al-Kulab during the Jahiliyyah, so he wore a nose made of silver, but it began to rot, so the Prophet told him to wear a nose made of gold.
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Whoever asks Allah for Paradise three times, Paradise will say: ‘O Allah, admit him to Paradise.’ And whoever seeks protection from Hell three times, Hell will say: ‘O Allah, protect him from the Fire.'”
The Prophet (ﷺ) as saying: A man who cups and a man who gets himself cupped break their fast.
Al-Rumaisa was the foster sister of Umm Sulaim.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The most favoured horses are the sorrel.
When the people of Mecca sent about ransoming their prisoners Zaynab sent some property to ransom Abul’As, sending among it a necklace of hers which Khadijah had had, and (which she) had given to her when she married Abul’As. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saw it, he felt great tenderness about it and said: If you consider that you should free her prisoner for her and return to her what belongs to her, (it will be well). They said: Yes. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) made an agreement with him that he should let Zaynab come to him, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent Zayd ibn Harithah and a man of the Ansar (the Helpers) and said: Wait in the valley of Yajij till Zaynab passes you, then you should accompany her and bring her back.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: This people of mine is one to which mercy is shown. It will have no punishment in the next world, but its punishment in this world will be trials, earthquakes and being killed.
And guiding the people on their way.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Kill all the snakes, and he who fears their revenge does not belong to me.
When a physician consulted the Prophet (ﷺ) about putting frogs in medicine, he forbade him to kill them.

“A man said to Ibn Mas’ud: ‘Which deed is most virtuous?’ He said: ‘I asked Allah’s Messenger (that). He said: “Salat at the beginning of its time.” I asked him: “What is after that O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “Being dutiful to one’s parents.” I said: “What is after that ?” He said: “Jihad in the Way of Allah.”
(Another chain) which is similar, but he said: (Tabarakta ya dhal-jalali wal-ikram) “Blessed are You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor.”
Allah’s Messenger said: “Indeed I hear the crying of a small boy while I am in Salat, so I shorten it in fear that his mother may be tormented.”
The Prophet said: “Stoning the Jimari and Sa’i between As-Safa and Al-Marwah are only done for the establishment of Allah’s remembrance.”
“When the news of the death of Ja’far came, the Prophet said: ‘Prepare some food for the family of Ja’far, for indeed something has happened to them that will keep them busy.'”
That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The dweller of the town is not to sell for the Bedouin.” There are narrations on this topic from Talhah, Jabir, Anas, Ibn ‘Abbas, Hakim bin Abi Yazid from his father, ‘Amr bin ‘Awf Al-Muzani the grandfather of Kathir bin ‘Abdullah, and a man from the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ).
” The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: ” The believer’s dreams are a portion of the forty portions of Prophet-hood. And it is (as if it is) on the leg of a bird, as long as it is not spoken of. But when it is spoken of it drops.” I think he said: ” And it should not be discussed except with an intelligent one or a beloved one.”
“I have not seen ailment effecting anyone worse than upon the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w).”
“O Messenger of Allah(s.a.w)! Which of the people is tried most severely?” He said: “The Prophets, then those nearest to them, then those nearest to them. A man is tried according to his religion; if he is firm in his religion, then his trials are more severe, and if he is frail in his religion, then he is tried according to the strength of his religion. The servant shall continue to be tried until he is left walking upon the earth without any sins.”
“We were with the Prophet (ﷺ) on a journey when some of his Companions fell behind. So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) raised his voice reciting these two Ayat: “O mankind! Have Taqwa of your Lord! Verily the earthquake of the hour is a terrible thing…” up to His saying: but Allah’s torment is severe (21:1 & 2).” When his Companions heard that, they hastened to catch up with him, since they knew that he had something to say. He (ﷺ) said: ‘Do you know what Day this is? That is the Day when Adam will be called. His Lord will call him and say: O Adam, send forth those who are to be sent to the Fire. He will say: O Lord! How many are to be sent to the Fire? He will say: From every one-thousand there are nine-hundred and ninety-nine for the Fire and one for Paradise. So the people despaired as if they would not smile again. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saw the state of his Companions, he said: ‘Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, you will be counted with two creations who are immense in numbers; Ya’juj and Ma’juj, and those who have died among the progeny of Adam and the progeny of Iblis.'” He said: “So some of the people’s grief went away, and he (ﷺ) said: ‘Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad! Among mankind, you are but like the mole on the flank of a camel, or a mark on the foreleg of a beast.'”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘the prayer of a man in congregation is twenty-five levels higher than his prayer in his home.'”
“When I die, then wash me with seven buckets from me well, the well of Ghars.”
“If one of the members of his family died, Hudhaifah would say: ‘Do not inform anyone of it, for I am afraid that that would be a public death announcement. I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) with these two ears of mine forbidding making public death announcements.’”
“No one of you should withhold surplus water from common pastureland.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led us in prayer on the Day of Hunain, beside a camel that was part of the spoils of war. Then he took something from the camel, and extracted from it a hair, which he placed between two of his fingers. Then he said: ‘O people, this is part of your spoils of war. Hand over a needle and thread and anything greater than that or less than that. For stealing from the spoils of war will be a source of shame for those who do it, and ignominy and Fire, on the Day of Resurrection.’”
“I saw the bald forehead of ‘Umar bin Khattab when he kissed the Black Stone and said: ‘I am kissing you, although I know that you are only a stone and you can neither cause harm nor bring benefit. Had I not seen the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) kissing you, I would not have kissed you.’”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and his Companions came out to us and we entered Ihram for Hajj. When we came to Makkah, he said: ‘Make your Hajj (to) ‘Umrah.’ The people said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, we have entered Ihram for Hajj, how can we make it ‘Umrah?’ He said: ‘Look at what I command you to do, and do it.’ They repeated their question and he got angry and went away. Then he entered upon ‘Aishah angry and she saw anger in his face, and said: ‘Who has made you angry? May Allah vex him!’ He said: ‘Why should I not get angry, when I give a command and it is not obeyed?’”
“My grandmother narrated to me from a man of Hudhail who was called Nubaishah Al-Khair. She said: ‘Nubaishah entered upon us when we were eating from a bowl of ours. He said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Whoever eats from a bowl then cleans it, the bowl will pray for forgiveness for him.’”
“Mention of fever was made in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and a man cursed it. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘Do not curse it, for it erases sin as fire removes filth from iron.’”
It was narrated from Salman Farisi that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed ablution, then he turned his woolen cloak that he was wearing inside out and wiped his face with it.
“I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) marking sheep on their ears, and I saw him wearing a cloak around his wrist.”
“We kissed the hand of the Prophet(ﷺ).”
“Zainab used to be called “Barrah” (good), and it was said that she was praising herself. So the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) changed her name to Zainab.”
the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) passed by him when he was planting a plant, and said: “O Abu Hurairah, what are you planting?” I said: “A plant for me.” He said: “Shall I not tell you of a plant that is better than this?” He said: “Of course, O Messenger of Allah.” He said: “Say: ‘Subhan-Allah, wal-hamdu-lillah, wa la ilaha illallah, wa Allahu Akbar (Glory is to Allah, praise is to Allah, none has the right to be worshiped but Allah and Allah is the Most Great.)’ For each one a tree will be planted for you in Paradise.”
Abu Hurairah said to a man “O son of my brother, when I narrate a Hadith of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), to you, then do not try to make any examples for it.”
I heard ‘Irbad bin Sariyah say: ‘One day, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood up among us and delivered a deeply moving speech to us that melted our hearts and caused our eyes to overflow with tears. It was said to him: ‘O Messenger of Allah, you have delivered a speech of farewell, so enjoin something upon us.’ He said: ‘I urge you to fear Allah, and to listen and obey, even if (your leader) is an Abyssinian slave. After I am gone, you will see great conflict. I urge you to adhere to my Sunnah and the path of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs, and cling stubbornly to it. And beware of newly-invented matters, for every innovation is a going astray.'”
