the Messenger of Allah used to fast nine days of Dhul-Hijjah, the day of ‘Ashura’, and three days of each month: The first Monday of the month, and two Thursday.

“While I was leading the Messenger of Allah  rode. Then he said: ‘Shall I not teach you two of the best Surahs that the people recite?’ And he taught me: ‘Say: I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of the daybreak,’ and ‘Say: I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of mankind.” Then the Iqamah was said and he went forward and recited them. Then he passed by me and said: ‘What do you think, O ‘Uqbah bin ‘Amir? Recite them every time you go to sleep and get up.'”

“I heard Ibn ‘Abbas saying that a man was injured in the head at the time of the Messenger of Allah, then he had a wet dream. He was told to have a bath, so he took the bath, became rigid and stiff, and died. News of that reached the Messenger of Allah and he said: ‘They have killed him, may Allah kill them! Is not the cure for a lack of knowledge to ask questions?'”‘Ata’ said: “We heard that the Messenger of Allah said: ‘If only he had washed his body and left his head alone where the wound was.'”
