Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri said to me, “I notice that you like sheep and you keep them; so take care of them and their food, for I have heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) saying, ‘A time will come upon the people when the best of a Muslim’s property will be sheep, which he will take to the tops of mountains and to the places of rain-falls to run away with his religion in order to save it from afflictions.’ “
“I heard Mu’awiyah say to a group of Muhajirun and Ansar who were around him: ‘Do you know that the Messenger of Allah forbade wearing silk?’ They said: ‘By Allah, yes.’ He said ‘And (he forbade) wearing gold unless it was broken (into smaller pieces)?’ They said: ‘Yes.'” ‘Ali bin Ghurab contradicted him; he reported it from Bahais, from Abu Shaikh, from Ibn ‘Umar.
“I heard Ibn ‘Umar say: ‘The Messenger of Allah forbade wearing gold unless it is broken (into smaller pieces).'”
“Umar bin ‘Abdul-‘Aziz wrote to ‘Adiy bin Artah (saying): ‘Every intoxicant is unlawful.'”
