## Hadith #5205

**Book:** The Book of Adornment | **Narrator(s):** Amr bin 'Ali bin Bahr al-Bahli عمرو بن علي بن بحر الباهلي, Mu'ayqayb bin Abi Fatima al-Dausi, Sahl bin Hamad سهل بن حماد, Sulaiman bin Da'ud bin al-Jarud سليمان بن داود أبو داود الطيالسي

The Prophet  wore a ring of silver with an Ethiopian stone (Fass), on which was inscribed (the phrase): “Muhammad Rasul Allah (Muhammad the Messenger of Allah).”

A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and he was wearing a signet-ring of yellow copper. He said to him: How is it that I notice the odour of idols in you? So he threw it away, and came wearing an iron signet ring. He (the Prophet) said: What is it that I see you wearing the adornment of the inhabitants of Hell? So he threw it away. He asked: Messenger of Allah, what material I must use? He said: Make it of silver, but do not weigh it as much as a mithqal,
The narrator Muhammad did not say: ” ‘Abd Allah b. Muslim,” and al-Hasan did not say: “al-Sulami al-Marwazi.”

“Allah’s Messenger (S) performed Salat until his feet were swollen, so it was said to him: ‘You burden yourself like this, while your past and future sins have been forgiven?’ He said: ‘Shouldn’t I be a grateful worshipper?'”
