The Book of Hajj · Narrated by Amr bin 'Ali bin Bahr al-Bahli عمرو بن علي بن بحر الباهلي, Nbyt bin Shryt al-'Ashj'y al-Kwfy, Salma bin Nabayt سلمة بن نبيط, Sufyan bin Sa‘id Ath-Thawri سفيان الثوري, Yahya bin Sa'id bin Farroukh al-Qatan يحيى بن سعيد بن فروخ القطان

“I said to Anas on the morning of Arafat: ‘What do you say about the Talbiyah on this day?’ I said: ‘I walked this path with the Messenger of Allah and his Companions. Some of them recited the Talbiyah and some recited the Takbir, and none of them denounced any other.”

A Jew said to `Umar: “If this Verse had been revealed to us, we would have taken it as a festival (Eid): ‘This day, I have perfected your religion for you.'” Umar said: “I know the day when it was revealed and the night on which it was revealed: a Friday night when we were with Messenger of Allah in Arafat.”

“When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) died, they differed as to whether his grave should have a niche or a ditch in the ground, until they spoke and raised their voices concerning that. Then ‘Umar said: ‘Do not shout in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), living or dead,’ or words to that effect. So they sent for both the one who made a niche and the one who dug graves without a niche, and the one who used to make a niche came and dug a grave with a niche for the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), then he (ﷺ) was buried.”

“When Ja’far was killed, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went to his family and said: ‘The family of Ja’far are busy with the matter of their deceased, so prepare food for them.’” (One of the narrators) Abdullah said: “That continued to be the Sunnah, until innovations were introduced, then it was abandoned.”
