“I became Junub while I was on a camel and I could not find any water, so I rolled in the dust like an animal. I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and told him about that, and he said: ‘Tayammum would have been sufficient for you.'”
“Do you remember when we were on a campaign, and I became Junub and rolled in the dust, then I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and he said: ‘This would have been sufficient.'” (One of the narrators) Shu’bah struck his hands on his knees and blew into his hands, then he wiped his face and palms with them once.
“I was siting with ‘Abdullah and Abu Musa, and Abu Musa said: ‘Have you not heard what ‘Ammar said to ‘Umar: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent me on an errand and I became Junub, and I could not find water, so I rolled in the earth then I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and told him about.’ He said: ‘It would have been sufficient for you to do this,’ and he struck the earth with his hands, then wiped his hands, then knocked them together to remove the dust, then he wiped his right hand with his left and his left hand with his right, palm to palm, and wiped his face.'” Then ‘Abdullah said: “Did you not see that ‘Umar was not convinced by what ‘Ammar said?”
“Does everyone of you have two garments?”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray witr with thirteen rak’ahs, but when he grew older and weaker he prayed witr with nine.”
Abu Musa was between Makkah and Al-Madinah. He prayed ‘Isha with two rak’ahs, then he stood and prayed one rak’ah of witr in which he recited one hundred verses from An-Nisa’. Then he said: “I tried my best to place my feet where the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) placed his, and to recite what the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recited.”
a man from Aslam came to the Prophet and confessed to committing Zina, and he turned away from him. He admitted it again, and he turned away from him. He admitted it again, and he turned away from him. Then when he had testified against himself four times, the Prophet said: “Are your crazy?” He said: “No.” He said: “Have you been marred?” he said: “Yes.” So the Prophet ordered that he be stoned. When the stones struck him, he ran away, but they caught up with him and stoned him and he died. Then the Prophet spoke well of him but he did not pray for him. (Shih)
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘When you see the crescent then fast, and when you see it, then stop fasting. If it is too cloudy then complete Shaban as thirty days, unless you see the crescent before that, then fast Ramadan as thirty days, unless you see the new crescent before that.”‘
“Fast when you see it, and stop fasting when you see it, and if clouds prevent you from seeing it, then complete the number, and do not fast ahead of Ramadan.”
“We traveled with the Messenger of Allah and some of us fasted and some of us did not.”
“When this verse was revealed ‘And as for those who can fast with difficulty, (e.g. an old man), they have (a choice either to fast or) to feed a miskin (poor person) (for every day). Those among us who did not want to fast would pay the fidyah, until the verse after it was revealed and abrogated this.”
“I said to Ibn Umar: ‘I see that you only touch these two Yemeni corners.’ He said: ‘I only saw the Messenger of Allah touch these two corners.'” This is an abridgement of it.
“Are you going to pray Magrib?” He said: “The prayer place is still ahead of you.”
“O Ka’b! Tell us a Hadith from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and be careful.” He said: “I heard him say: ‘Whoever develops one gray hair in Islam, in the cause of Allah, it will be light for him on the Day of Resurrection.'” He said to him: “Tell us about the Prophet (ﷺ) and be careful.” He said: “I heard him say: ‘Shoot, and whoever hits the enemy with an arrow, Allah will raise him one degree in status thereby.'” Ibn An-Nahhan said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is a degree?’ He said: ‘It is not like the doorstep of your mother; rather (the distance) between two degrees is (that if) a hundred years.'” As explained after it; the degree of distance is greater than such a degree in this world.
It was narrated from Anas that the Messenger of Allah manumitted Safiyyah and made her freedom her dowry.
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that he divorced his wife when she was menstruating, but the Messenger of Allah told him to take her back, and divorce her when she was pure (not menstruating).
“I came to the Messenger of Allah” and he mentioned something similar.
Three persons were brought to Ali (Allah be pleased with him) when he was in the Yemen. They and sexual intercourse with a woman during a single state of purity. He asked two of them: Do you acknowledge this child for this (man)? They replied: No. He then put this (question) to all of them. Whenever he asked two of them, they replied in the negative. He, therefore, cast a lot among them, and attributed the child to the one who received the lot. He imposed two-third of the blood-money (i.e. the price of the mother) on him. This was then mentioned to the Prophet (ﷺ) and he laughed so much that his molar teeth appeared.
Al Bara’ (bin Azib) said “When a man fasted and slept, he could not eat till (another nigh) like it.” Sarmah bin Qais Al Ansari came to his wife while he was fasting and asked her Do you have something (to eat)? She replied “No”. Let me go and seek something for you. So, she went out and sleep overcame him. She came (back) and said (to him) .You are deprived (of food). He fainted before noon. He used to work all day long at his land. This was mentioned to the Prophet (ﷺ). So the following verse was revealed. “Permitted to you on the nights of the fasts, is the approach to your wives. They are your garments and ye are their garments. Allah knoweth what yes used to do secretly amongst yourselves. But he turned to you and forgave you. So now associate with them and seek what Allaah hath ordained for you. And eat and drink until the white thread of dawn appears to you. He recited up to the words “of dawn”.
Sahib maks means one who (receives) tithes (from) people.
I know him that he traced this tradition back to the prophet (May peace be upon him). Abu Dawud said: Abu Nu’aim transmitted it from Musa b. Qais, from Muhammad b. Ajlan, from Sa’id, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, from the prophet (May peace be upon him).
“Allah’s Messenger prayed Maghrib when the sun had set and it (the sun) had hidden in the veil (of darkness).”
“When the following was revealed: ‘And for those upon whom it is difficult, (they may) feed a poor person’ – if one of us wanted we would not fast, and pay the ransom, until the Ayah after it was revealed abrogating it.”
“The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) dispatched us on a military expedition. We camped with some people and asked them to entertain us but they did not entertain us. Their leader was stung so they came to us saying: ‘Is there anyone among you who can treat a scorpion sting with Ruqyah?’ I said: ‘Yes I can. But I will not do any Ruqyah until you give us some sheep.’ They said: ‘Then we shall give you thirty sheep.’ We accepted that,and I recited Al-Hamda seven times. He became better and we took the sheep.” He said: “We became concerned about that being permissible and said: ‘Do not be hasty until we reach the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W).” He said: “When we arrived with him I mentioned what I did to him. He(S.A.W)said: ‘How did you know that it was a Ruqyah? Take the sheep, and assign me a share among you.'”
that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever recites the last two Ayat of Surat Al-Baqarah during the night, they shall suffice him.”
The Messenger of Allah said: “Whoever builds a mosque for the sake of Allah, like a sparrow’s nest for Allah or even smaller, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘The Imam is appointed to be followed. When he says Allahu Akbar, then say Allahu Akbar; when he bows, then bow; when he says Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah, then say Rabbana wa lakal-hamd; when he prostrates then prostrate; if he prays standing, then pray standing, and if he prays sitting down then pray sitting down.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray until his feet became swollen. It was said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, Allah has forgiven you your past and future sins.’ He said: ‘Should I not be a thankful slave?’”
“If a man stays among a people, he should not fast without their permission.”
the Prophet (ﷺ) told Subai’ah to get married, when her postnatal bleeding ended.
“I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, we live in a land of the People of the Book and we eat from their vessels. And we live in a land (where there is) game, so I hunt with my bow and with my trained dog and with my untrained dog.’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘As for what you say about living in a land of the People of the Book, do not eat from their vessels unless you can find no alternative. If you can fidn no alternative then wash them and eat from them. With regard to what you say about hunting, whatever you catch with your bow, say the Name of Allah over it and eat. Whatever you catch with your trained dog, say the Name of Allah over it and eat. But whatever you catch with your untrained dog, then catch it, slaughter it, then eat.’”
“Eat what your bow brings you.”
“Two kinds of dead meat have been permitted to us: fish and locusts.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked about how long a woman’s hem should hang down. He said: ‘A hand span.’ I said: ‘But then (her legs and feet) will be uncovered.’ He said: ‘Then a forearm’s length, but no more than that.’”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent us on a campaign, and a Muslim man attacked an idolater man.” And he mentioned the Hadith and added: “And the earth cast him out. The Prophet (ﷺ) was told about that and he said: ‘The earth accepts those who are worse than him, but Allah wanted to show you how great is the sanctity of La ilaha illallah.’”
