    <text>I asked `Abdullah bin Abu `Aufa “Did the Prophet (ﷺ) make a will?” He replied, “No,” I asked him, “How is it then that the making of a will has been enjoined on people, (or that they are ordered to make a will)?” He replied, “The Prophet (ﷺ) bequeathed Allah’s Book (i.e. Qur’an).</text>

    <text>I asked `Abdullah bin Abi `Aufa, “Did the Prophet (ﷺ) make a will (to appoint his successor or bequeath wealth)?” He replied, “No.” I said, “How is it prescribed then for the people to make wills, and they are ordered to do so while the Prophet (ﷺ) did not make any will?” He said, “He made a will wherein he recommended Allah’s Book.”</text>

I said: Then why has making of will been made necessary for the Muslims, or why were they commanded to make will? Thereupon he said: He made the will according to the Book of Allah, the Exalted and Majestic.</text>

    <text>“At the time of the Messenger of Allah we used to be called Samasir (brokers). The Messenger of Allah came to us when we were selling and called us by a name that was better than that. He said: ‘O merchants (Tujjar), this selling involves lies and (false) oaths, so mix some charity with it.&apos;”</text>

    <text>The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: A vow does not provide for the son of Adam anything which I did not decree for him, but a vow draws it. A Divine decree is one which I have destined, it is extracted from a miser. He is given what he was not given before.</text>

    <text>A Marfu’ narration (from the Prophet (ﷺ)), saying: “A crippled animal whose limp is obvious is not to be slaughtered as sacrifice, nor an animal with a bad eye whose blindness is obvious, nor a sick animal whose sickness is obvious, nor an emaciated animal that has no marrow (in its bones).”</text>
