Sunan al-Nasa'i — The Book of Oaths and Vows

“Whoever vows to obey Allah, let him obey Him, and whoever vows to disobey Allah, let him not disobey Him.”

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: No vow must be taken to do an act of disobedience, and the atonement for it is the same as for an oath. Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Marwazi said: The correct chain of this tradition is: ‘Ali b. al-Mubarak, from Yahya b. Abi Kathir, from Muhammad b. al-Zubair, from his father, on the authority of ‘Imran b. Husain from the Prophet (ﷺ) Abu Dawud said: By this he (al-Marwazi) means that the narrator Sulaiman b. Arqam had some misunderstanding about this tradition. Al-Zuhri narrated it from him and then transmitted it (omitting his name) from Abu Salamah on the authority of ‘Aishah. Abu Dawud said: Baqiyyah has transmitted it from al-Auza’i from Yahya, from Muhammad b. al-Zubair with a similar chain of Ibn al-Mubarak.

That the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Do not withhold surplus water so that it is prevented from the pasture.” This Hadith is Hasan Sahih. Abu Al-Munhal’s name is ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Mut’im, he is from Al-Kufah, and he is oen that Habib bin Abi Thabit reports from. Abu Al-Munhal Sayyar bin Salamah is from Al-Basrah, he is the companion of Abu Barzah Al-Aslami.

That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “There is no Fara’ or ‘Atirah.” The Fara’ is the first of the offspring that would be born to them, so they would slaughter it. The ‘Atirah was an animal that they would slaughter during Rajab to honor the month of Rajab, since it was the first of the sacred months.

” The Muslim’s dreams are a portion of the forty-six portions of Prophet-hood. And it is (as if it is) on the leg of a bird, as long as it is not spoken of. But when it is spoken of it falls.”

“If the Son of Adam had a valley of gold, then he would still like to have a second . And nothing fills his mouth but dust, Allah turns to whoever repents.”

“`Umair bin Hani used to perform a thousand prostrations every day and recite a hundred thousand Tasbīḥs every day.”

“The Messenger of Allah, if he needed any of his wives, would satisfy his needs then he would sleep as he was, without touching water.”

the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ruled concerning the stream of Mahzur that the water should be retained until it reached the ankles, then released.
