“I heard Humran bin Aban tell Abu Burdah in the Masjid that he heard ‘Uthman narrating that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Whoever performs Wudu’ completely as commanded by Allah, the five daily prayers will be an expiation for whatever comes in between them.'”
“I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘There is no man who performs Wudu’ and does it well, then prays, but when he prays it, he will be forgiven whatever (sins he commits) between that and the next prayer.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led us in Maghrib prayer, then he did not come out to us until half the night had passed. Then he came out and led them in prayer, then he said: ‘The people have prayed and gone to sleep, but you are still in a state of prayer so long as you are waiting for the prayer. Were it not for the weakness of the weak and, the sickness of the sick, I would have commanded that this prayer be delayed until halfway through the night.'”
“We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in Hunain and it rained. The caller of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) called out, telling us: ‘Pray where you are.”‘
“When he prayed Zuhr behind the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) we would prostrate on our garments because of the heat.”
“I said to ‘Aishah: ‘Tell me of a supplication that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say in his prayer.’ She said: ‘Yes. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say: Allahumma inni author bika min sharri ma ‘amiltu wa min sharri ma lam a’mal (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the evil of that which I have done, and the evil of that which I have not done.)'”
“Our companions narrated to us that Abu ‘Ubaidah said: ‘Fasting is a shield, so long as you do not damage it.”‘
“The Prophet forbade men to perfume themselves with saffron. (Shahih)
“I asked Jabir bin Abdulla about hyenas, and he told me to eat them. I said: “Is it not game? He said: ‘Yes’ I said: ‘Did you hear that from the Messenger of Allah?’ He said: ‘Yes.'”
“The Prophet married Maimunah when he was in Ihram.”
That the Messenger of Allah got married when in Ihram.
“And take you the Maqam (place) of Ibrahim as a place of prayer.” And prayed two Rak`ahs with the Maqam between him and the Ka`bah. Then he touched the Corner, then he went out and said: ‘As-Safa and Al-Marwah are two of the symbols of Allah. We will start with that with which Allah started.'”
“Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, will admit three people into Paradise for one arrow: The one who makes it, intending it to be used for a good cause, the one who shoots it, and one who passes it to him.”
“There are five things, whoever dies of any of them is a martyr. The one who is killed in the cause of Allah is a martyr; the one who dies of an abdominal complaint in the cause of Allah is a martyr; the one who dies of the plague in the cause of Allah is a martyr; and the woman who dies in childbirth in the cause of Allah is a martyr.”
“The martyrs and those who dies in their beds referred a dispute to our Lord concerning those who dies of the plague. The martyrs said: ‘Our brothers were killed as we were killed.’ And those who dies in their beds said: ‘Our brothers dies on their beds as we died.’ Our Lord said: ‘Look at their wounds; if their wounds; if their wounds are like the wounds of those who were killed then they are of them and belong with them.’ And their wounds were like their (the martyrs’) wounds.”
It was narrated from ‘Aishah, the wife of the Prophet, that the Messenger of Allah came to her when Allah commanded him to give his wives the choice. ‘Aishah said: “The Messenger of Allah started with me and said: ‘I am going to tell you something, but you do not have to rush until you consult your parents.'” She said: “He knew that my parents would not tell me to leave him.” Then the Messenger of Allah said: ‘O Prophet! Say to your wives: If you desire the life of this world, and its glitter, then come! I will make a provision for you and set you free in a handsome manner.’ “I said: ‘Do I need to consult my parents about this? I choose Allah and His Messenger, and the abode of the Hereafter.'”
“A girl came to her and said: ‘My father married me to his brother’s son so that he might raise his own status thereby, and I was unwilling.’ She said: ‘Sit here until the Prophet comes.’ Then the Messenger of Allah came, and I told him (what she had said). He sent word to her father, calling him, and he left the matter up to her. She said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, I accept what my father did, but I wanted to know whether women have any say in the matter.'”
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘An orphan girl should be consulted with regard to marriage, and if she remains silent, that is her permission. If she refuses then she is not to be forced.'”
“The Messenger of Allah used to stress charity in his sermons, and prohibit mutilation.”
The Messenger of Allah said: “It is not permissible to shed the blood of a Muslim except in three cases: An adulterer who had been married, who should be stoned to death; a man who killed another man intentionally, who should be killed; and a man who left Islam and waged war against Allah, the Might and Sublime, and His Messenger, who should be killed, or crucified, or banished from the land.”
“Maimunah used to take out loans frequently, and some of her family criticized her and denounced her for that. She said: ‘I will not stop taking loans, for I heard my close friend and my beloved say: “There is no one who takes out a loans, and Allah knows that he intends to pay it back, but Allah will pay it back for him in this world.”
“Umar said to Suhaib: ‘Why do I see you wearing a ring of gold?’ He said: ‘One who was better than you saw it and did not criticize it.’ He said: ‘Who was that?’ He said: ‘The Messenger of Allah .'”
When the Messenger of Allah said: “Then there is no harm.”
“On the night on which he was taken on the Night Journey (Al-Isra’), two cups, of wine and milk, were brought to the Messenger of Allah . He looked at them and chose the milk. Jibril, peace be upon him, said to him: ‘Praise be to Allah Who has guided you to the Fitrah. If you have chosen the wine, your Ummah would have gone astray.'”
On the day when Mecca was conquered, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave protection to the People except four men and two women and he named them. Ibn AbuSarh was one of them. He then narrated the tradition. He said: Ibn AbuSarh hid himself with Uthman ibn Affan. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) called the people to take the oath of allegiance, he brought him and made him stand before the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He said: Messenger of Allah, receive the oath of allegiance from him. He raised his head and looked at him thrice, denying him every time. After the third time he received his oath. He then turned to his Companions and said: Is not there any intelligent man among you who would stand to this (man) when he saw me desisting from receiving the oath of allegiance, and kill him? They replied: We do not know, Messenger of Allah, what lies in your heart; did you not give us an hint with your eye? He said: It is not proper for a Prophet to have a treacherous eye. Abu Dawud said: ‘Abd Allah (b. Abi Sarh) was the foster brother of ‘Uthman, and Walid b. ‘Uqbah was his brother by mother, and ‘Uthman inflicted on him hadd punishment when he drank wine.
I said to Aisha! Mother, show me the grave of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and his two Companions (Allah be pleased with them). She showed me three graves which were neither high nor low, but were spread with soft red pebbles in an open space. Abu ‘Ali said: It is said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) is forward, Abu Bakr is near his head and ‘Umar is near is feet. His head is at the feet of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would not say funeral prayer over a person who died while the debt was due from him. A dead Muslim was brought to him and he asked: Is there any debt due from him? They (the people) said: Yes, two dirhams. He said: Pray yourselves over your companion. Then AbuQatadah al-Ansari said: I shall pay them, Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) then prayed over him. When Allah granted conquests to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), he said: I am nearer to every believer than himself, so if anyone (dies and) leaves a debt, I shall be responsible for paying it; and if anyone leaves property, it goes to his heirs.
I asked: Messenger of Allah! tell me if someone enters my house and extends his hands to kill me (what should I do?) The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) replied: Be like the two sons of Adam. The narrator Yazid (ibn Khalid) then recited the verse: “If thou dost stretch they hand against me to slay me.”
The bloodwit for unintentional murder is in four parts: twenty five she-camels in their fourth year, twenty five she-camels in their fifth year, twenty five she-camels in their third year, and twenty twenty five she-camels in their second year.
I went with a deputation of Banu Amir to the apostle of Allah (ﷺ), and we said: You are our lord (sayyid). To this he replied: The lord is Allah, the Blessed and Exalted. Then we said: And the one of us most endowed with excellence and superiority. To this he replied: Say what you have to say, or part of what you have to say, and do not let the devil make you his agents.
Let a hearer hear beginning with praise of Allah and His good favours and blessing to us. Our Lord, accompany us and show favour to us, and I seek refuge in Allah from Hell.
If anyone says in the morning: “O Allah! whatever oath I take, whatever word I speak, and whatever vow I take, Thine will precedes all that: whatever Thou willeth, occurs, and whatever Thou dost not will, dost not occur. O Allah! pardon me and disregard me for it. O Allah! whomsoever Thou sendest thine blessing, to him my blessing is due, and whomsoever thou cursest, to him my curse is due, ” exemption from it will be granted to him that day.
the Prophet would go through his beard.”
Allah’s Messenger said: “Whoever attends Isha (prayer) in congregation, then he has (the reward as if he had) stood half of the night. And whoever prays Isha and Fajr in congregation, then he has (the reward as if he had) spend the entire night standing (in prayer).”
he heard Allah’s Messenger say: “Whoever builds a Masjid for (the sake of) Allah, then Allah will build a similar house for him in Paradise.”
“Some of the poor people came to Allah’s Messenger (S) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah (S)! The rich pray as we pray, they fast as we fast, but they have wealth with which they free slaves and which they give in charity.’ He said: ‘When you perform Salat, then say: ‘Subhan Allah’ thirty-three times, and: ‘Al-Hamdulillah’ thirty-three times, and: ‘Allahu Akbar’ thirty-four times, and ‘La ilaha illallah’ ten times. With that you will have surprassed them, and none would surpass you afterwards.'”
“When the Prophet would come home from a battle, or Hajj, or Umrah, when he was it a tract of land or raised area he would say ‘Allahu Akbar (Allah is Most Great)’ three times, then say: ‘La Ilaha illallah Wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-Hamdu wa Huwa ala kulli shai’in qadir. A’ibuna ta’ibun abidun saa’ihuna li Rabbina Hamiduna, Sadaqallahu wa’dahu wa nasara abdahu wa hazamal-ahzab Wahdah. (None has the right to be worshiped but Allah Alone without partners. To Him belongs the sovereignty and to Him belongs the praise, and He has power over all things. We are returning, repenting, worshipping, traveling for our Lord, and we are praising. Allah has told the truth, and kept His promise and helped His worshipper, and routed the confederates, Alone.'”
“When the Prophet (ﷺ) arrived in Al-Madinah, they were paying in advance for fruits. So he said: ‘Whoever pays in advance, then let him pay in advance for known measurements (of dates), and known weights for a specified period of time.'” He said: There are narrations on this topic from Ibn Abi Awfa and ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Abza. The Hadith of Ibn ‘Abbas is a Hasan Sahih Hadith. This is acted upon according to the people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) and others. They allow for advanced payments on food, garments and other things in which the limits and description are known. They differed over delay in delivery of animals. Some of the people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) and others thought that delay in delivery of animals is allowed. This is the view of Ash-Shafi’i, Ahmad and Ishaq. Some of the people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) and others, disliked delay in delivery of animals. This is the saying of Sufyan and the people of Al-Kufah. And Abu Al-Minhal’s (a narrator) name is ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Mut’im.
“It was said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what equals Jihad?’ He said: ‘Verily, you (people) are not capable of it.’ So they repeated it to him two or three times, each time he said, ‘You (people) are not capable of it.’ Then he said the third time: ‘The example of the Mujahid in the path of Allah is like the one who fasts and stands (in prayer) and does not slacken from Salat, nor fasting, until the Mujahid in the cause of Allah returns.'” There are narrations on this topic from Ash-Shifa’, ‘Abdullah bin Hubshi, Abu Musa’, Abu Sa’eed, Umm Malik Al-Bahziyyah, and Anas. This Hadith is a Hasan Sahih. And it has been reported through more than one route from Abu Hurairah from the Prophet (ﷺ).
I asked Abu Ad-Darda about the saying of Allah, Most High: ‘For them are glad tidings in the life of the present world’ so he said: ‘No one other than you asked me about it, except for one man, since I asked the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w), he said: ‘No one other than you has asked me about it since it was revealed: This Ayah refers to the righteous dreams which the Muslim sees or which are seen about him.”
“Whoever wishes to look at the Sahifah which Muhammad (ﷺ) placed his seal upon, then let him look at these Ayat, ‘Say: Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited you from… up to His saying “That you may have Taqwa (6:151-153).'”
from Abu Sa’eed, from the Prophet (ﷺ), regarding the saying of Allah, Most High: Or some of the Signs of your Lord come (6:158). He (ﷺ) said: “The sun’s rising from its setting place.”
that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “There are three, for which when they appear, a soul will not benefit by its faith, if it did not believe before the Signs: Ad-Dajjal, the Beast, and the rising of the sun from its setting place” – or “from the west.”
“I heard the Messenger of Allah say: ‘Whoever touches his sexual organ, let him perform ablution.'”
“I heard the Messenger of Allah being asked about touching the penis. He said: ‘That does not require ablution, because it is a part of you (your body).'”
“We did dry ablution with the Messenger of Allah, (wiping our arms) up to our shoulders.”
The Prophet said: “The five daily prayers, from one Friday to the next, and fulfilling the trust are all expiation for whatever (sins) come between them.” I said: “What is fulfilling the trust?” He said: Having a bath to cleanse oneself from sexual impurity, for under every hair there is the state of sexual impurity.”
In the Adhan of Bilal, the phrases were two by two, and in his Iqamah they were said once.
“I heard the Messenger of Allah say: ‘Whoever builds a mosque for the sake of Allah, Allah will build something similar for him in Paradise.'”
The Messenger of Allah saw some sputum on the wall of the mosque. He picked up a stone and scraped it off, then he said, “If anyone of you needs to spit, he should not spit in fro not of him or to his right; let him spit to his right; let him spit to his left or under his left foot.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘The best rows for women are the back rows, and the worst are the front rows, and the best rows for men are the front rows, and the worst are the back rows.’”
“We were forbidden to form a row between two pillars at the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and we would be repelled from them forcefully.”
“There are no days during which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these days,” meaning the (first) ten days of Dhul- Hijjah. They said: “O Messenger of Allah! Not even Jihad in the cause of Allah?” He said: “Not even Jihad in the cause of Allah, unless a man goes out with himself and his wealth and does not bring anything back.”
Umm Salamah said: “The Messenger of Allah enjoined charity upon us. Zainab, the wife of Abdullah said: ‘Will it be accepted as charity on my part if I give charity to my husband who is poor, and to the children of a brother of mine who are orphans, spending such and such on them, and in all circumstances?’ He said: ‘Yes.’”
“Whoever is appointed judge between the people, he has been slaughtered without a knife.”
“Learn from me. Allah (SWT) has ordained for them (women) another way. (If) a virgin (commits illegal sexual intercourse) with a virgin, (the punishment is) one hundred lashes and exile for one year. (If) a Thayyib (commits adultery) with a Thayyib (the punishment is) one hundred lashes and stoning.”
“A man who had intercourse with the slave woman of his wife was brought to Nu`man bin Bashir. He said: ‘I will pass no other judgement than that of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) He said: ‘If (his wife) had made her lawful for him, then I will give him one hundred lashes, but if she has not given permission, I will stone him.’ ”
some people raided the she-camels of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) , so the Prophet(ﷺ) cut off their hands and feet (on opposite sides) and lanced (gouged out) their eyes.
“O younger brother, give us a share of your supplication, and do not forget us.”
“Jibril (as) promised the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) that he would come to him at a certain hour, but he was late. The Prophet (ﷺ) went out and there was Jibril standing at the door. He said: ‘What kept you from entering?’ He said: ‘There is a dog in the house, and we do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image.’”
“While we were with the Prophet(ﷺ), a man from the Banu Salamah came to him and said: ” O messenger of Allah, is there anyway of honoring my parents that I can still do for them after they die?’ He said: “Yes offering the funeral prayer for them, praying for forgiveness for them, fulfilling their promises after their death, honoring their freinds and upholding the ties of kinship which you would not have were it nor for them.'”
“The truest of wods spoken by the poet are the words of Labid: Everything except Allah is false.’ And Abu Umayyah bin Abu Salt nearly accepted Islam.”
“In a dream I saw myself emigrating from Makkah to a land in which there were date-palm trees, and I thought that it was Yamamah or Hajar, but it was Al-Madinah, Yathrib. And I saw in this dream of mine that I was wielding a sword then it broke in the middle. That was what befell the believers on the Day of Uhud. Then I wielded it again and it was better than it had been before, and that is what Allah brought about of the Conquest and the regrouping of the believers. And I also saw cows, and by Allah it is good, for they are the group of the believers (who were martyred) on the Day of Uhud, and the goodness is that which Allah brought forth after that, and the reward of the truth which Allah brought us on the Day of Badr.”
“Count for me all those who have uttered (the word of) Islam.” We said: “O Messenger of Allah, do you fear for us when we number between six and seven hundred?” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “You do not know, perhaps you will be tested.”
“On the night on which the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was taken on the Night Journey (Isra’), he met Ibrahim, Musa and ‘Eisa, and they discussed the Hour. They started with Ibrahim, and asked him about it, but he did not have any knowledge of it. Then they asked Musa, and he did not have any knowledge of it. Then they asked ‘Eisa bin Maryam, and he said: ‘I have been assigned to some tasks before it happens.’ As for as when it will take place, no one knows that except Allah. Then he mentioned Dajjal and said: ‘I will descend and kill him, then the people will return to their own lands and will be confronted with Gog and Magog people, who will: “swoop down from every mound.” They will not pass by any water but they will drink it, (and they will not pass) by anything but they will spoil it. They (the people) will beseech Allah, and I will pray to Allah to kill them. The earth will be filled with their stench and (the people) will beseech Allah and I will pray to Allah, then the sky will send down rain that will carry them and throw them in the sea. Then the mountains will turn to dust and the earth will be stretched out like a hide. I have been promised that when that happens, the Hour will come upon the people, like a pregnant woman whose family does not know when she will suddenly give birth.'” (One of the narrators) ‘Awwam said: “Confirmation of that is found in the Book of Allah, where Allah says: “Until, when Gog and Magog people are let loose (from their barrier), and they swoop down from every mound (21:96).”
“The wealthiest will be the lowest, except one who does such and such,’ three things.”
