“We used to travel with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) between Makkah and Al-Madinah, fearing nothing but Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, and praying two rak’ahs.”
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to recite: “Glorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High;” in witr, in the second rak’ah he would recite: “Say: O you disbelievers!”; and in the third “Say: He is Allah, (the) One”. And he only said the taslim at the end, and he would say- meaning after the taslim: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy)’ three times.”
a funeral passed by them and one of them stood and the other sat. The one who stood up said: “By Allah, I know that the Messnger of Allah stood up.” The one who was sitting said: “I know that the Messenger of Allah sat.”
“Abu Hurairah told me that the Messenger of Allah said: ‘Whoever spends the nights of Ramadan in prayer (Qiyam) out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will be forgiven his previous sins, and whoever spends the night of Lailat Al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will be forgiven his previous sins.”‘
“My father told us: ‘we came to Jabir bin’Abdullah and asked him about the Hajj of the Prophet, He told us: “Ali came from Yemen with a Hadi, and the Messenger of Allah brought a Hadi from al-Madinah. He said to ail; ‘For what have you entered Ihram?’ He said: I ‘I said: “O Allah, I am entering Ihram for that for which the Messenger of Allah entered Ihram,” and I have the Hadi with me.’ He said: ‘Do not exit Ihram.”‘
“I was thinking of forbidding Ghilah until I remembered that it is done by the Persians and Romans” -(one of the narrators) Ishaq said: “(They) do that -and it does not harm their children.”
“The one who takes back his gift, is like the dog which vomits then goes back to its vomit.”
“Abdul-Jabbar bin Al-‘Ala’ narrated to us, he said: ‘Sufyan narrated to us from Ibn Abi Najih, from Tawus, and perhaps it is from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: There is no Ruqba, and whoever gives a gift on the basis of Ruqba, it is part of his estate.'”
‘Ali came to some people of Az-Zutt, who worshipped idols, and burned them. Ibn ‘Abbas said: “But the Messenger of Allah said: ‘Whoever changes his religion, kill him.'”
“Zaid bin Thabit told me that the Messenger of Allah granted a concession regarding the sale of ‘Arays.”
The Prophet of Allah said: “If any one of you goes out to the Masjid, let her not go near perfume.”
“I asked the Mother of the Believers ‘Aishah about what the Messenger of Allah used to say in his supplication. She said: ‘He used to say: A’udhu bika min sharri ma ‘amiltu wa min sharri ma lam a’mal ba’d (I seek refuge with You from the evil of what I have done and the evil of what I have not done yet.)'”
Muhammad bin Kathir said “Sufyan was asked to explain the tradition mentioned above.” He said “When he embraces Islam, no jizyah will be levied on him.”
When we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), he talked about periods of trial (fitnahs), mentioning many of them. When he mentioned the one when people should stay in their houses, some asked him: Messenger of Allah, what is the trial (fitnah) of staying at home? He replied: It will be flight and plunder. Then will come a test which is pleasant. Its murkiness is due to the fact that it is produced by a man from the people of my house, who will assert that he belongs to me, whereas he does not, for my friends are only the God-fearing. Then the people will unite under a man who will be like a hip-bone on a rib. Then there will be the little black trial which will leave none of this community without giving him a slap, and when people say that it is finished, it will be extended. During it a man will be a believer in the morning and an infidel in the evening, so that the people will be in two camps: the camp of faith which will contain no hypocrisy, and the camp of hypocrisy which will contain no faith. When that happens, expect the Antichrist (Dajjal) that day or the next.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Do not invoke Allah’s curse, Allah’s anger, or Hell.
The Messenger of Allah said to him: “O Ali! Three are not to be delayed: Salat when it is due, the funeral when it is presented, and (marriage) for the single woman when someone compatible is found.”
“The Hour shall not be established until nearly thirty imposters, Dajjal appear, each of them claiming that he is the Messenger of Allah.”
“I heard ‘Abbad bin Tamim narrating to my father that his paternal uncle had seen the Prophet (ﷺ) going out to the prayer place to pray for rain. He faced the Qiblah and turned his cloak around, and prayed two Rak’ah.” (One of the narrators) Muhammad bin Sabbah said: “Sufyan told us something similar, narrating from Yahya bin Sa`eed, from Abu Bakr bin Muhammad bin `Amr bin Hazm. from `Abbad bin Tamim, from his paternal uncle, from the Prophet (ﷺ).” Sufyan narrated that Al-Mas`udi said: “I asked Abu Bakr bin Muhammad bin `Amr: ‘Did he turn it upside down or right to left?’ He said: ‘No, it was right to left.’”
“O people, fear Allah and be moderate in seeking a living, for no soul will die until it has received all its provision, even if it is slow in coming. So fear Allah and be moderate in seeking provision; take that which is permissible and leave that which is forbidden. “
