Verse 20:79 in Context

75 وَمَن یَأۡتِهِۦ مُؤۡمِنࣰا قَدۡ عَمِلَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُمُ ٱلدَّرَجَـٰتُ ٱلۡعُلَىٰ ۝٧٥ waman yatihi mu'minan qad ʿamila l-ṣāliḥāti fa-ulāika lahumu l-darajātu l-ʿul But those who return to their Lord as believers with righteous deeds will be rewarded with the highest of ranks 76 جَنَّـٰتُ عَدۡنࣲ تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَاۚ وَذَ ٰلِكَ جَزَاۤءُ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ ۝٧٦ jannātu ʿadnin tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru khālidīna fīhā wadhālika jazāu man tazakk Gardens of lasting bliss graced with flowing streams, and there they will stay. Such is the reward of those who purify themselves 77 وَلَقَدۡ أَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰۤ أَنۡ أَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِی فَٱضۡرِبۡ لَهُمۡ طَرِیقࣰا فِی ٱلۡبَحۡرِ یَبَسࣰا لَّا تَخَـٰفُ دَرَكࣰا وَلَا تَخۡشَىٰ ۝٧٧ walaqad awḥaynā ilā mūsā an asri biʿibādī fa-iḍ'rib lahum ṭarīqan fī l-baḥri yabasan lā takhāfu darakan walā takhsh We revealed to Moses, ‘Go out at night with My servants and strike a dry path for them across the sea. Have no fear of being overtaken and do not be dismayed.’ 78 فَأَتۡبَعَهُمۡ فِرۡعَوۡنُ بِجُنُودِهِۦ فَغَشِیَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡیَمِّ مَا غَشِیَهُمۡ ۝٧٨ fa-atbaʿahum fir'ʿawnu bijunūdihi faghashiyahum mina l-yami mā ghashiyahu Pharaoh pursued them with his armies and was overwhelmed by the sea
79 وَأَضَلَّ فِرۡعَوۡنُ قَوۡمَهُۥ وَمَا هَدَىٰ ۝٧٩ wa-aḍalla fir'ʿawnu qawmahu wamā had Pharaoh truly led his people astray; he did not guide them
80 یَـٰبَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ قَدۡ أَنجَیۡنَـٰكُم مِّنۡ عَدُوِّكُمۡ وَوَ ٰعَدۡنَـٰكُمۡ جَانِبَ ٱلطُّورِ ٱلۡأَیۡمَنَ وَنَزَّلۡنَا عَلَیۡكُمُ ٱلۡمَنَّ وَٱلسَّلۡوَىٰ ۝٨٠ yābanī is'rāīla qad anjaynākum min ʿaduwwikum wawāʿadnākum jāniba l-ṭūri l-aymana wanazzalnā ʿalaykumu l-mana wal-salw Children of Israel, We rescued you from your enemies. We made a pledge with you on the right-hand side of the mountain. We sent down manna and quails for you 81 كُلُوا۟ مِن طَیِّبَـٰتِ مَا رَزَقۡنَـٰكُمۡ وَلَا تَطۡغَوۡا۟ فِیهِ فَیَحِلَّ عَلَیۡكُمۡ غَضَبِیۖ وَمَن یَحۡلِلۡ عَلَیۡهِ غَضَبِی فَقَدۡ هَوَىٰ ۝٨١ kulū min ṭayyibāti mā razaqnākum walā taṭghaw fīhi fayaḥilla ʿalaykum ghaḍabī waman yaḥlil ʿalayhi ghaḍabī faqad haw ‘Eat from the good things We have provided for you, but do not overstep the bounds, or My wrath will descend on you. Anyone on whom My wrath descends has truly fallen 82 وَإِنِّی لَغَفَّارࣱ لِّمَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَـٰلِحࣰا ثُمَّ ٱهۡتَدَىٰ ۝٨٢ wa-innī laghaffārun liman tāba waāmana waʿamila ṣāliḥan thumma ih'tad Yet I am most forgiving towards those who repent, believe, do righteous deeds, and stay on the right path.’ 83 ۞ وَمَاۤ أَعۡجَلَكَ عَن قَوۡمِكَ یَـٰمُوسَىٰ ۝٨٣ wamā aʿjalaka ʿan qawmika yāmūs [God said], ‘Moses, what has made you come ahead of your people in such haste?’
