Verse 37:82 in Context

78 وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝٧٨ wataraknā ʿalayhi fī l-ākhirīn We let him be praised by later generations 79 سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحࣲ فِی ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٧٩ salāmun ʿalā nūḥin fī l-ʿālamīn ‘Peace be upon Noah among all the nations!’ 80 إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝٨٠ innā kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn This is how We reward those who do good 81 إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٨١ innahu min ʿibādinā l-mu'minīn he was truly one of Our faithful servants
82 ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلۡءَاخَرِینَ ۝٨٢ thumma aghraqnā l-ākharīn We drowned the rest
83 ۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِیعَتِهِۦ لَإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ۝٨٣ wa-inna min shīʿatihi la-ib'rāhīm Abraham was of the same faith 84 إِذۡ جَاۤءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلۡبࣲ سَلِیمٍ ۝٨٤ idh jāa rabbahu biqalbin salīmi he came to his Lord with a devoted heart 85 إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِیهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٨٥ idh qāla li-abīhi waqawmihi mādhā taʿbudūn He said to his father and his people, ‘What are you worshipping 86 أَىِٕفۡكًا ءَالِهَةࣰ دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِیدُونَ ۝٨٦ a-if'kan ālihatan dūna l-lahi turīdūn How can you choose false gods instead of the true God
