Verse 53:7 in Context

3
وَمَا یَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰۤ ٣
wamā yanṭiqu ʿani l-haw
he does not speak from his own desire
4
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحۡیࣱ یُوحَىٰ ٤
in huwa illā waḥyun yūḥ
The Quran is nothing less than a revelation that is sent to him
5
عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِیدُ ٱلۡقُوَىٰ ٥
dhū mirratin fa-is'taw
It was taught to him by [an angel] with mighty power
6
ذُو مِرَّةࣲ فَٱسۡتَوَىٰ ٦
Thoo mirratin faistawa
and great strength, who stoo
7
وَهُوَ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ ٧
wahuwa bil-ufuqi l-aʿl
on the highest horizo
8
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ ٨
thumma danā fatadall
and then approached––coming dow
9
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوۡسَیۡنِ أَوۡ أَدۡنَىٰ ٩
fakāna qāba qawsayni aw adn
until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer––
10
فَأَوۡحَىٰۤ إِلَىٰ عَبۡدِهِۦ مَاۤ أَوۡحَىٰ ١٠
fa-awḥā ilā ʿabdihi mā awḥ
and revealed to God’s servant what He revealed
11
مَا كَذَبَ ٱلۡفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰۤ ١١
mā kadhaba l-fuādu mā ra
[The Prophet’s] own heart did not distort what he saw
