A short lesson on why helping people – even in the smallest ways – is one of the most loved deeds in Islam.
Come here, my love. Let me ask you something. Have you ever helped someone today? Maybe you held the door for me. Maybe you picked up something your little cousin dropped. Maybe you helped your friend find a crayon that rolled under the table. Those are not little things in the eyes of Allah, sweetheart – they are huge. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us so much about helping people that his companions used to count the ways. Every small good deed, every helpful hand, every gentle effort to make someone else feel better – all of it matters to Allah. Tonight I want to share three of his teachings with you about helping others.
1. Allah Helps Those Who Help
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said something so beautiful, my love. He said that a Muslim is a brother (or sister) to every other Muslim. We do not push each other down. We do not leave each other to struggle alone. And then he told us something amazing: whoever helps another person with a need that they have, Allah will help that person with their needs too. Whoever helps lift a worry off someones shoulders, Allah will lift their worries on the Day we all meet Him. Imagine that, sweetheart. Every time you help someone, Allah remembers it – and He helps you back, in ways you may not even see.
What it means for us: So the next time your sister asks for help with something, or a classmate needs a pencil, or someone at the masjid looks confused – try to be the one who steps forward. Not because you want anything back, but because Allah is the one who really pays the reward, and His reward is the best reward.

2. The Best Deeds Are So Simple
Someone once asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) a really important question: "Which kind of deeds in Islam are the best?" Maybe they were expecting a very long answer. But the Prophet just smiled and said two simple things: feed those who are hungry, and greet everyone with peace – even the people you do not know. That is it, sweetheart. Not something complicated. Not something only grownups can do. Just feed the hungry, and say a kind hello. Even you, my little one, can do both of those today.
What it means for us: Sharing your snack with a friend who forgot their lunch is feeding the hungry. Saying "Assalamu alaikum" with a real smile to the person at the door of the masjid is greeting with peace. Those tiny moments are some of the most loved deeds in our whole religion. You can do them every single day, and Allah is so pleased every time you do.

3. Every Little Helping Hand Is Charity
The Prophet (peace be upon him) told his companions something that I want you to hold onto, sweetheart. He said that every single day, just by being alive and well, we owe a quiet thank-You to Allah – and the way we say it is by helping someone. He gave so many examples it was almost like he wanted us to find one we could do every day. To be fair when two people are arguing – that is a kind of helping. To help someone carry a heavy bag or climb onto their ride – that is helping. To say a good, kind word – that is helping. To take a step toward the masjid for prayer – that is helping. And even just to move a sharp stone out of the path so no one trips on it – that is helping too.
What it means for us: See how big this is, my love? Helping people is not one thing. It is hundreds of little things, every day. Every gentle word, every helping hand, every small kindness – Allah counts every single one. You do not need to be big or strong or grown to help. You just need a kind heart and a willing pair of hands – and you already have both.

A Little Thought Before Bed
So when you wake up tomorrow morning, my love, ask Allah quietly in your heart: "Ya Allah, show me one person I can help today." And then watch what happens. Maybe it will be me. Maybe it will be a friend at school. Maybe it will be a stranger you only see for a moment. Whoever it is – that small bit of help is one of the most beautiful things a Muslim can do. Big deeds are wonderful, but Allah loves the little daily helps just as much.
Ya Allah, make my hands quick to help, my words kind, and my heart open to anyone who needs me. Ameen.
