A short lesson on why learning is one of the most beloved things you can do, in the eyes of Allah.
Habibi, come sit with me. Did you know that learning – just learning – is a kind of worship in Islam? Every time you open a book, every time you ask a curious question, every time you try to understand something new about the world Allah made, He is so pleased with you. The very first word that Allah revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was "Iqra" – which means "Read." Not "pray" first, not "give" first – read. Allah loves a curious mind. Tonight I want to share three sayings of the Prophet (peace be upon him) about why learning is so precious.
1. A Duty for Every Muslim
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that seeking knowledge is a duty – something every Muslim is supposed to do. Boys and girls. Young and old. Rich and not-so-rich. None of us is too small to start learning, and none of us is too big to keep learning. That means Allah expects everyone to keep growing their minds and hearts as long as they live. Learning never has an end point in our religion.
What it means for us: See, my love? Going to school, reading a story together at bedtime, memorizing a new dua, learning the meaning of a verse – all of it counts. Even the curious questions you ask me are a kind of seeking knowledge.

2. The Path That Allah Loves
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said something so beautiful, sweetheart. He said that when a person walks a path to learn something – even just walking to school, or walking to a class at the masjid, or walking to the library – Allah makes the path to Jannah easier for them. Just by trying to learn, you are getting closer to Paradise. The walk to learn becomes a path of light.
What it means for us: Imagine that, my love. Every page you turn, every lesson you sit through, every time you try to understand something hard instead of giving up – it is a step closer to Allah. Even when learning feels difficult, those steps are written down for you.

3. Even the Angels Lower Their Wings
And listen to this one, sweetheart – it is so special. The Prophet (peace be upon him) told us that when a person sits down to seek knowledge, the angels actually lower their wings for them. The angels show respect because Allah loves what that person is doing so much. The whole sky leans in a little when a curious mind opens a book.
What it means for us: Picture that, my love. When you sit down with your homework or with a story or with the Quran, the angels themselves are happy with you. So we never call learning boring in our house – we call it precious.

A Little Thought Before Bed
So never be afraid to ask, my love. Never be afraid to say "I do not know yet, but I want to learn." Those are some of the bravest, most beautiful words a Muslim can say. Allah loves a curious heart. And everything you learn now – every story, every dua, every question – you can use one day to help someone else. Your learning today becomes a gift you give the world tomorrow.
Ya Allah, increase me in knowledge that benefits me, and let what I learn be a light for me and for everyone I meet. Ameen.
