Verse 21:88 in Context

84 فَٱسۡتَجَبۡنَا لَهُۥ فَكَشَفۡنَا مَا بِهِۦ مِن ضُرࣲّۖ وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُ أَهۡلَهُۥ وَمِثۡلَهُم مَّعَهُمۡ رَحۡمَةࣰ مِّنۡ عِندِنَا وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِلۡعَـٰبِدِینَ ۝٨٤ fa-is'tajabnā lahu fakashafnā mā bihi min ḍurrin waātaynāhu ahlahu wamith'lahum maʿahum raḥmatan min ʿindinā wadhik'rā lil'ʿābidīn We answered him, removed his suffering, and restored his family to him, along with more like them, as an act of grace from Us and a reminder for all who serve Us 85 وَإِسۡمَـٰعِیلَ وَإِدۡرِیسَ وَذَا ٱلۡكِفۡلِۖ كُلࣱّ مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِینَ ۝٨٥ wa-is'māʿīla wa-id'rīsa wadhā l-kif'li kullun mina l-ṣābirīn And remember Ishmael, Idris, and Dhu’l-Kifl: they were all steadfast 86 وَأَدۡخَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ فِی رَحۡمَتِنَاۤۖ إِنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝٨٦ wa-adkhalnāhum fī raḥmatinā innahum mina l-ṣāliḥīn We admitted them to Our mercy; they were truly righteous 87 وَذَا ٱلنُّونِ إِذ ذَّهَبَ مُغَـٰضِبࣰا فَظَنَّ أَن لَّن نَّقۡدِرَ عَلَیۡهِ فَنَادَىٰ فِی ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ أَن لَّاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّاۤ أَنتَ سُبۡحَـٰنَكَ إِنِّی كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٨٧ wadhā l-nūni idh dhahaba mughāḍiban faẓanna an lan naqdira ʿalayhi fanādā fī l-ẓulumāti an lā ilāha illā anta sub'ḥānaka innī kuntu mina l-ẓālimīn And remember the man with the whale,when he went off angrily, thinking We could not restrict him, but then he cried out in the deep darkness, ‘There is no God but You, glory be to You, I was wrong.’
88 فَٱسۡتَجَبۡنَا لَهُۥ وَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلۡغَمِّۚ وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ نُۨجِی ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٨٨ fa-is'tajabnā lahu wanajjaynāhu mina l-ghami wakadhālika nunjī l-mu'minīn We answered him and saved him from distress: this is how We save the faithful
89 وَزَكَرِیَّاۤ إِذۡ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥ رَبِّ لَا تَذَرۡنِی فَرۡدࣰا وَأَنتَ خَیۡرُ ٱلۡوَ ٰرِثِینَ ۝٨٩ wazakariyyā idh nādā rabbahu rabbi lā tadharnī fardan wa-anta khayru l-wārithīn Remember Zachariah, when he cried to his Lord, ‘My Lord, do not leave me childless, though You are the best of heirs.’ 90 فَٱسۡتَجَبۡنَا لَهُۥ وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥ یَحۡیَىٰ وَأَصۡلَحۡنَا لَهُۥ زَوۡجَهُۥۤۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ یُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِی ٱلۡخَیۡرَ ٰتِ وَیَدۡعُونَنَا رَغَبࣰا وَرَهَبࣰاۖ وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا خَـٰشِعِینَ ۝٩٠ fa-is'tajabnā lahu wawahabnā lahu yaḥyā wa-aṣlaḥnā lahu zawjahu innahum kānū yusāriʿūna fī l-khayrāti wayadʿūnanā raghaban warahaban wakānū lanā khāshiʿīn We answered him––We gave him John, and cured his wife of barrenness- they were always keen to do good deeds. They called upon Us out of longing and awe, and humbled themselves before Us 91 وَٱلَّتِیۤ أَحۡصَنَتۡ فَرۡجَهَا فَنَفَخۡنَا فِیهَا مِن رُّوحِنَا وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهَا وَٱبۡنَهَاۤ ءَایَةࣰ لِّلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٩١ wa-allatī aḥṣanat farjahā fanafakhnā fīhā min rūḥinā wajaʿalnāhā wa-ib'nahā āyatan lil'ʿālamīn Remember the one who guarded her chastity. We breathed into her from Our Spirit and made her and her son a sign for all people 92 إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦۤ أُمَّتُكُمۡ أُمَّةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ ۝٩٢ inna hādhihi ummatukum ummatan wāḥidatan wa-anā rabbukum fa-uʿ'budūn [Messengers], this community of yours is one single community and I am your Lord, so serve Me
