149 وَتَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُیُوتࣰا فَـٰرِهِینَ ۝١٤٩ watanḥitūna mina l-jibāli buyūtan fārihīn carving your fine houses from the mountains 150 فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١٥٠ fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn Be mindful of God and obey me 151 وَلَا تُطِیعُوۤا۟ أَمۡرَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ ۝١٥١ walā tuṭīʿū amra l-mus'rifīn do not obey those who are given to exces 152 ٱلَّذِینَ یُفۡسِدُونَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا یُصۡلِحُونَ ۝١٥٢ alladhīna yuf'sidūna fī l-arḍi walā yuṣ'liḥūn and who spread corruption in the land instead of doing what is right.’
153 قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَاۤ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِینَ ۝١٥٣ qālū innamā anta mina l-musaḥarīn They said, ‘You are bewitched
154 مَاۤ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُنَا فَأۡتِ بِءَایَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ۝١٥٤ mā anta illā basharun mith'lunā fati biāyatin in kunta mina l-ṣādiqīn You are nothing but a man like us. Show us a sign, if you are telling the truth.’ 155 قَالَ هَـٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةࣱ لَّهَا شِرۡبࣱ وَلَكُمۡ شِرۡبُ یَوۡمࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ ۝١٥٥ qāla hādhihi nāqatun lahā shir'bun walakum shir'bu yawmin maʿlūmi He said, ‘Here is a camel. She should have her turn to drink and so should you, each on a specified day 156 وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوۤءࣲ فَیَأۡخُذَكُمۡ عَذَابُ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمࣲ ۝١٥٦ walā tamassūhā bisūin fayakhudhakum ʿadhābu yawmin ʿaẓīmi so do not harm her, or the punishment of a terrible day will befall you.’ 157 فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصۡبَحُوا۟ نَـٰدِمِینَ ۝١٥٧ faʿaqarūhā fa-aṣbaḥū nādimīn But they hamstrung her. In the morning they had cause to regret it
