شق — شَاقٌّ

Difficult, hard, distressing, grievous, afflicting, troubling, molesting, fatiguing, or wearying. (KL.) One says إَمْرٌ شَاقٌّ [ An affair, or event, that is difficult, &c.]; from شَقَّ عَلَيْنَا الإَمْرُ. (Msb.) And شُقَّةٌ شَاقَّةٌ (S, Msb) A long journey [ that is difficult, &c.]. (Msb.)
