وَإِذۡ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوۡمِهِۦ یَـٰقَوۡمِ لِمَ تُؤۡذُونَنِی وَقَد تَّعۡلَمُونَ أَنِّی رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ إِلَیۡكُمۡۖ فَلَمَّا زَاغُوۤا۟ أَزَاغَ ٱللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمۡۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا یَهۡدِی ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَـٰسِقِینَ ۝٥

Yusuf Ali (Orig. 1938)

And remember, Moses said to his people: "O my people! why do ye vex and insult me, though ye know that I am the apostle of God (sent) to you?" Then when they went wrong, God let their hearts go wrong. For God guides not those who are rebellio us transgressors

wa-idh qāla mūsā liqawmihi yāqawmi lima tu'dhūnanī waqad taʿlamūna annī rasūlu l-lahi ilaykum falammā zāghū azāgha l-lahu qulūbahum wal-lahu lā yahdī l-qawma l-fāsiqīn

61:6

وَإِذۡ قَالَ عِیسَى ٱبۡنُ مَرۡیَمَ یَـٰبَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ إِنِّی رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ إِلَیۡكُم مُّصَدِّقࣰا لِّمَا بَیۡنَ یَدَیَّ مِنَ ٱلتَّوۡرَىٰةِ وَمُبَشِّرَۢا بِرَسُولࣲ یَأۡتِی مِنۢ بَعۡدِی ٱسۡمُهُۥۤ أَحۡمَدُۖ فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَهُم بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِ قَالُوا۟ هَـٰذَا سِحۡرࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٦

Yusuf Ali (Orig. 1938)

And remember, Jesus, the son of Mary, said: "O Children of Israel! I am the apostle of God (sent) to you, confirming the Law (which came) before me, and giving Glad Tidings of an Apostle to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad." But when h e came to them with Clear Signs, they said, "this is evident sorcery!"

wa-idh qāla ʿīsā ub'nu maryama yābanī is'rāīla innī rasūlu l-lahi ilaykum muṣaddiqan limā bayna yadayya mina l-tawrāti wamubashiran birasūlin yatī min baʿdī us'muhu aḥmadu falammā jāahum bil-bayināti qālū hādhā siḥ'run mubīnu

61:7

وَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَ وَهُوَ یُدۡعَىٰۤ إِلَى ٱلۡإِسۡلَـٰمِۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا یَهۡدِی ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٧

Yusuf Ali (Orig. 1938)

Who doth greater wrong than one who invents falsehood against God, even as he is being invited to Islam? And God guides not those who do wrong

waman aẓlamu mimmani if'tarā ʿalā l-lahi l-kadhiba wahuwa yud'ʿā ilā l-is'lāmi wal-lahu lā yahdī l-qawma l-ẓālimīn

61:8

یُرِیدُونَ لِیُطۡفِءُوا۟ نُورَ ٱللَّهِ بِأَفۡوَ ٰهِهِمۡ وَٱللَّهُ مُتِمُّ نُورِهِۦ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ ۝٨

Yusuf Ali (Orig. 1938)

Their intention is to extinguish God's Light (by blowing) with their mouths: But God will complete (the revelation of) His Light, even though the Unbelievers may detest (it)

yurīdūna liyuṭ'fiū nūra l-lahi bi-afwāhihim wal-lahu mutimmu nūrihi walaw kariha l-kāfirūn

61:9

هُوَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَرۡسَلَ رَسُولَهُۥ بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَدِینِ ٱلۡحَقِّ لِیُظۡهِرَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلدِّینِ كُلِّهِۦ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٩

Yusuf Ali (Orig. 1938)

It is He Who has sent His Apostle with Guidance and the Religion of Truth, that he may proclaim it over all religion, even though the Pagans may detest (it)

huwa alladhī arsala rasūlahu bil-hudā wadīni l-ḥaqi liyuẓ'hirahu ʿalā l-dīni kullihi walaw kariha l-mush'rikūn

61:10

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ هَلۡ أَدُلُّكُمۡ عَلَىٰ تِجَـٰرَةࣲ تُنجِیكُم مِّنۡ عَذَابٍ أَلِیمࣲ ۝١٠

Yusuf Ali (Orig. 1938)

O ye who believe! Shall I lead you to a bargain that will save you from a grievous Penalty?

yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū hal adullukum ʿalā tijāratin tunjīkum min ʿadhābin alīmi

61:11

تُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَتُجَـٰهِدُونَ فِی سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِ بِأَمۡوَ ٰلِكُمۡ وَأَنفُسِكُمۡۚ ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ خَیۡرࣱ لَّكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝١١

Yusuf Ali (Orig. 1938)

That ye believe in God and His Apostle, and that ye strive (your utmost) in the Cause of God, with your property and your persons: That will be best for you, if ye but knew

tu'minūna bil-lahi warasūlihi watujāhidūna fī sabīli l-lahi bi-amwālikum wa-anfusikum dhālikum khayrun lakum in kuntum taʿlamūn

61:12

یَغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡ ذُنُوبَكُمۡ وَیُدۡخِلۡكُمۡ جَنَّـٰتࣲ تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ وَمَسَـٰكِنَ طَیِّبَةࣰ فِی جَنَّـٰتِ عَدۡنࣲۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِیمُ ۝١٢

Yusuf Ali (Orig. 1938)

He will forgive you your sins, and admit you to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, and to beautiful mansions in Gardens of Eternity: that is indeed the Supreme Achievement

yaghfir lakum dhunūbakum wayud'khil'kum jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru wamasākina ṭayyibatan fī jannāti ʿadnin dhālika l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīm

61:13

وَأُخۡرَىٰ تُحِبُّونَهَاۖ نَصۡرࣱ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَفَتۡحࣱ قَرِیبࣱۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٣

Yusuf Ali (Orig. 1938)

And another (favour will He bestow,) which ye do love,- help from God and a speedy victory. So give the Glad Tidings to the Believers

wa-ukh'rā tuḥibbūnahā naṣrun mina l-lahi wafatḥun qarībun wabashiri l-mu'minīn

61:14

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُونُوۤا۟ أَنصَارَ ٱللَّهِ كَمَا قَالَ عِیسَى ٱبۡنُ مَرۡیَمَ لِلۡحَوَارِیِّـۧنَ مَنۡ أَنصَارِیۤ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۖ قَالَ ٱلۡحَوَارِیُّونَ نَحۡنُ أَنصَارُ ٱللَّهِۖ فَءَامَنَت طَّاۤىِٕفَةࣱ مِّنۢ بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ وَكَفَرَت طَّاۤىِٕفَةࣱۖ فَأَیَّدۡنَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ عَلَىٰ عَدُوِّهِمۡ فَأَصۡبَحُوا۟ ظَـٰهِرِینَ ۝١٤

Yusuf Ali (Orig. 1938)

O ye who believe! Be ye helpers of God: As said Jesus the son of Mary to the Disciples, "Who will be my helpers to (the work of) God?" Said the disciples, "We are God's helpers!" then a portion of the Children of Israel believed, and a portion disbelieved: But We gave power to those who believed, against their enemies, and they became the ones that prevailed

yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū kūnū anṣāra l-lahi kamā qāla ʿīsā ub'nu maryama lil'ḥawāriyyīna man anṣārī ilā l-lahi qāla l-ḥawāriyūna naḥnu anṣāru l-lahi faāmanat ṭāifatun min banī is'rāīla wakafarat ṭāifatun fa-ayyadnā alladhīna āmanū ʿalā ʿaduwwihim fa-aṣbaḥū ẓāhirīn
