65:1

۞ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّبِیُّ إِذَا طَلَّقۡتُمُ ٱلنِّسَاۤءَ فَطَلِّقُوهُنَّ لِعِدَّتِهِنَّ وَأَحۡصُوا۟ ٱلۡعِدَّةَۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمۡۖ لَا تُخۡرِجُوهُنَّ مِنۢ بُیُوتِهِنَّ وَلَا یَخۡرُجۡنَ إِلَّاۤ أَن یَأۡتِینَ بِفَـٰحِشَةࣲ مُّبَیِّنَةࣲۚ وَتِلۡكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّهِۚ وَمَن یَتَعَدَّ حُدُودَ ٱللَّهِ فَقَدۡ ظَلَمَ نَفۡسَهُۥۚ لَا تَدۡرِی لَعَلَّ ٱللَّهَ یُحۡدِثُ بَعۡدَ ذَ ٰلِكَ أَمۡرࣰا ۝١

Musharraf Hussain

Prophet, when someone intends to divorce a woman, let him divorce her at a time when their waiting term can begin, and accurately count the waiting term. Fear Allah, your Lord. Do not drive them out of their houses, nor should they leave by themselves except if they had committed a shameless indecency. Those are Allah’s boundaries; whoever exceeds the boundaries of Allah has wronged himself. You don’t know what new circumstances Allah may bring about after that.

yāayyuhā l-nabiyu idhā ṭallaqtumu l-nisāa faṭalliqūhunna liʿiddatihinna wa-aḥṣū l-ʿidata wa-ittaqū l-laha rabbakum lā tukh'rijūhunna min buyūtihinna walā yakhruj'na illā an yatīna bifāḥishatin mubayyinatin watil'ka ḥudūdu l-lahi waman yataʿadda ḥudūda l-lahi faqad ẓalama nafsahu lā tadrī laʿalla l-laha yuḥ'dithu baʿda dhālika amra

65:2

فَإِذَا بَلَغۡنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَأَمۡسِكُوهُنَّ بِمَعۡرُوفٍ أَوۡ فَارِقُوهُنَّ بِمَعۡرُوفࣲ وَأَشۡهِدُوا۟ ذَوَیۡ عَدۡلࣲ مِّنكُمۡ وَأَقِیمُوا۟ ٱلشَّهَـٰدَةَ لِلَّهِۚ ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ یُوعَظُ بِهِۦ مَن كَانَ یُؤۡمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡیَوۡمِ ٱلۡءَاخِرِۚ وَمَن یَتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ یَجۡعَل لَّهُۥ مَخۡرَجࣰا ۝٢

Musharraf Hussain

So when they have completed their waiting term, you may keep them honourably, or let them go honourably. On this occasion appoint two just witnesses amongst you, and establish witnesses for the sake of Allah. A guidance for believers in Allah and the Final Day. Whoever is mindful of Allah, He shall make a way out for him,

fa-idhā balaghna ajalahunna fa-amsikūhunna bimaʿrūfin aw fāriqūhunna bimaʿrūfin wa-ashhidū dhaway ʿadlin minkum wa-aqīmū l-shahādata lillahi dhālikum yūʿaẓu bihi man kāna yu'minu bil-lahi wal-yawmi l-ākhiri waman yattaqi l-laha yajʿal lahu makhraja

65:3

وَیَرۡزُقۡهُ مِنۡ حَیۡثُ لَا یَحۡتَسِبُۚ وَمَن یَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسۡبُهُۥۤۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَـٰلِغُ أَمۡرِهِۦۚ قَدۡ جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لِكُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ قَدۡرࣰا ۝٣

Musharraf Hussain

and provide him sustenance from where he wouldn’t expect. Whoever puts trust in Allah is enough for him. Allah will complete His task. Allah has made a precise amount of sustenance for all things

wayarzuq'hu min ḥaythu lā yaḥtasibu waman yatawakkal ʿalā l-lahi fahuwa ḥasbuhu inna l-laha bālighu amrihi qad jaʿala l-lahu likulli shayin qadra

65:4

وَٱلَّـٰۤءِی یَىِٕسۡنَ مِنَ ٱلۡمَحِیضِ مِن نِّسَاۤىِٕكُمۡ إِنِ ٱرۡتَبۡتُمۡ فَعِدَّتُهُنَّ ثَلَـٰثَةُ أَشۡهُرࣲ وَٱلَّـٰۤءِی لَمۡ یَحِضۡنَۚ وَأُو۟لَـٰتُ ٱلۡأَحۡمَالِ أَجَلُهُنَّ أَن یَضَعۡنَ حَمۡلَهُنَّۚ وَمَن یَتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ یَجۡعَل لَّهُۥ مِنۡ أَمۡرِهِۦ یُسۡرࣰا ۝٤

Musharraf Hussain

Your older women in menopause should complete the waiting term of three months if you are in doubt. The same applies to those who aren’t menstruating. The prescribed term for pregnant women is the end of their pregnancy. Whoever fears Allah, He will make his circumstances easy

wa-allāī ya-is'na mina l-maḥīḍi min nisāikum ini ir'tabtum faʿiddatuhunna thalāthatu ashhurin wa-allāī lam yaḥiḍ'na wa-ulātu l-aḥmāli ajaluhunna an yaḍaʿna ḥamlahunna waman yattaqi l-laha yajʿal lahu min amrihi yus'ra

65:5

ذَ ٰلِكَ أَمۡرُ ٱللَّهِ أَنزَلَهُۥۤ إِلَیۡكُمۡۚ وَمَن یَتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ یُكَفِّرۡ عَنۡهُ سَیِّءَاتِهِۦ وَیُعۡظِمۡ لَهُۥۤ أَجۡرًا ۝٥

Musharraf Hussain

That is the command of Allah, which He has sent down to you. Whoever is mindful of Allah, He will forgive his evil deeds, and increase for him his reward.

dhālika amru l-lahi anzalahu ilaykum waman yattaqi l-laha yukaffir ʿanhu sayyiātihi wayuʿ'ẓim lahu ajra

65:6

أَسۡكِنُوهُنَّ مِنۡ حَیۡثُ سَكَنتُم مِّن وُجۡدِكُمۡ وَلَا تُضَاۤرُّوهُنَّ لِتُضَیِّقُوا۟ عَلَیۡهِنَّۚ وَإِن كُنَّ أُو۟لَـٰتِ حَمۡلࣲ فَأَنفِقُوا۟ عَلَیۡهِنَّ حَتَّىٰ یَضَعۡنَ حَمۡلَهُنَّۚ فَإِنۡ أَرۡضَعۡنَ لَكُمۡ فَءَاتُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ وَأۡتَمِرُوا۟ بَیۡنَكُم بِمَعۡرُوفࣲۖ وَإِن تَعَاسَرۡتُمۡ فَسَتُرۡضِعُ لَهُۥۤ أُخۡرَىٰ ۝٦

Musharraf Hussain

House them during the waiting period where you live, according to your financial means, and do not harass them in order to make their lives miserable. If they are pregnant, then spend generously on them until they have delivered the newborn. If they breastfeed the child for you, then give them a payment for that. Deal in a good way with each other. If you find yourselves in difficulty, then let another woman breastfeed the child for him.

askinūhunna min ḥaythu sakantum min wuj'dikum walā tuḍārrūhunna lituḍayyiqū ʿalayhinna wa-in kunna ulāti ḥamlin fa-anfiqū ʿalayhinna ḥattā yaḍaʿna ḥamlahunna fa-in arḍaʿna lakum faātūhunna ujūrahunna watamirū baynakum bimaʿrūfin wa-in taʿāsartum fasatur'ḍiʿu lahu ukh'r

65:7

لِیُنفِقۡ ذُو سَعَةࣲ مِّن سَعَتِهِۦۖ وَمَن قُدِرَ عَلَیۡهِ رِزۡقُهُۥ فَلۡیُنفِقۡ مِمَّاۤ ءَاتَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُۚ لَا یُكَلِّفُ ٱللَّهُ نَفۡسًا إِلَّا مَاۤ ءَاتَىٰهَاۚ سَیَجۡعَلُ ٱللَّهُ بَعۡدَ عُسۡرࣲ یُسۡرࣰا ۝٧

Musharraf Hussain

Let the wealthy man spend according to his wealth, and let the one whose income is limited spend from what Allah has given him. Allah doesn’t burden anyone except with what He has given him. Allah will soon make ease after hardship

liyunfiq dhū saʿatin min saʿatihi waman qudira ʿalayhi riz'quhu falyunfiq mimmā ātāhu l-lahu lā yukallifu l-lahu nafsan illā mā ātāhā sayajʿalu l-lahu baʿda ʿus'rin yus'ra

65:8

وَكَأَیِّن مِّن قَرۡیَةٍ عَتَتۡ عَنۡ أَمۡرِ رَبِّهَا وَرُسُلِهِۦ فَحَاسَبۡنَـٰهَا حِسَابࣰا شَدِیدࣰا وَعَذَّبۡنَـٰهَا عَذَابࣰا نُّكۡرࣰا ۝٨

Musharraf Hussain

How many cities have rebelled against its Lord and His messengers’ command? We sternly brought them to account, and severely punished them.

waka-ayyin min qaryatin ʿatat ʿan amri rabbihā warusulihi faḥāsabnāhā ḥisāban shadīdan waʿadhabnāhā ʿadhāban nuk'ra

65:9

فَذَاقَتۡ وَبَالَ أَمۡرِهَا وَكَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ أَمۡرِهَا خُسۡرًا ۝٩

Musharraf Hussain

So they tasted the evil effects of their disobedience, and their works finally came to nothing.

fadhāqat wabāla amrihā wakāna ʿāqibatu amrihā khus'ra

65:10

أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمۡ عَذَابࣰا شَدِیدࣰاۖ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ یَـٰۤأُو۟لِی ٱلۡأَلۡبَـٰبِ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ۚ قَدۡ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَیۡكُمۡ ذِكۡرࣰا ۝١٠

Musharraf Hussain

Allah has prepared a severe punishment for them. So be mindful of Allah, understanding people who believe! Allah has sent down a reminder to you,

aʿadda l-lahu lahum ʿadhāban shadīdan fa-ittaqū l-laha yāulī l-albābi alladhīna āmanū qad anzala l-lahu ilaykum dhik'ra

65:11

رَّسُولࣰا یَتۡلُوا۟ عَلَیۡكُمۡ ءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ مُبَیِّنَـٰتࣲ لِّیُخۡرِجَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ مِنَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِۚ وَمَن یُؤۡمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ وَیَعۡمَلۡ صَـٰلِحࣰا یُدۡخِلۡهُ جَنَّـٰتࣲ تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَاۤ أَبَدࣰاۖ قَدۡ أَحۡسَنَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُۥ رِزۡقًا ۝١١

Musharraf Hussain

a Messenger who recites Allah’s clear verses to you, to take those who believe and do good deeds out of the layers of darkness into the light. Whoever believes in Allah and does righteous deeds, He will admit him into gardens beneath which rivers flow; they will live therein forever. Allah has perfected for them their provisions

rasūlan yatlū ʿalaykum āyāti l-lahi mubayyinātin liyukh'rija alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti mina l-ẓulumāti ilā l-nūri waman yu'min bil-lahi wayaʿmal ṣāliḥan yud'khil'hu jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru khālidīna fīhā abadan qad aḥsana l-lahu lahu riz'qa

65:12

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ سَبۡعَ سَمَـٰوَ ٰتࣲ وَمِنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِثۡلَهُنَّۖ یَتَنَزَّلُ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ بَیۡنَهُنَّ لِتَعۡلَمُوۤا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ قَدِیرࣱ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَدۡ أَحَاطَ بِكُلِّ شَیۡءٍ عِلۡمَۢا ۝١٢

Musharraf Hussain

Allah is the One Who created the seven Heavens and the Earth in a similar number to them. His commandments come down between them, so that you may come to know that Allah has control over all things, and that Allah’s knowledge encompasses all things

al-lahu alladhī khalaqa sabʿa samāwātin wamina l-arḍi mith'lahunna yatanazzalu l-amru baynahunna litaʿlamū anna l-laha ʿalā kulli shayin qadīrun wa-anna l-laha qad aḥāṭa bikulli shayin ʿil'ma
