1 The Comer by Night

وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

And (by) the heaven and the Night Visitant! (Or: "The Morning Star; literally: The Rapper)

Waalssama-i waalttariqi

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الطَّارِقُ

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

And what makes you realize what the Night Visitant is? (Or: "The Morning Star; literally: The Rapper)

Wama adraka ma alttariqu

النَّجْمُ الثَّاقِبُ

The Piercing Star

Alnnajmu alththaqibu

إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

Decidedly over every self there is assuredly a Preserver

In kullu nafsin lamma AAalayha hafithun

فَلْيَنظُرِ الْإِنسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

So let man look into what he was created from

Falyanthuri al-insanu mimma khuliqa

خُلِقَ مِن مَّاءٍ دَافِقٍ

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

He was created from effusive water

Khuliqa min ma-in dafiqin

يَخْرُجُ مِن بَيْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَالتَّرَائِبِ

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

Going out between the loins (Or: backbone) and the breastbones

Yakhruju min bayni alssulbi waalttara-ibi

إِنَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِ لَقَادِرٌ

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

Surely He is indeed Determiner over his return (to life)

Innahu AAala rajAAihi laqadirun

يَوْمَ تُبْلَى السَّرَائِرُ

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

On the Day when secret thoughts and actions are tried

Yawma tubla alssara-iru

فَمَا لَهُ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

Then in no way will he have any power or any vindicator

Fama lahu min quwwatin wala nasirin

وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الرَّجْعِ

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

By the heaven comprising the returning (rain) (Or: the rotating rain)

Waalssama-i thati alrrajAAi

وَالْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ الصَّدْعِ

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

And by the earth comprising crevices (producing verdure)

Waal-ardi thati alssadAAi

إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

Surely (the Qur'an) is indeed a Verdict address (Literally: a decisive Saying)

Innahu laqawlun faslun

وَمَا هُوَ بِالْهَزْلِ

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

And in no way is it mere joking

Wama huwa bialhazli

إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًا

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

Surely they are plotting (evil) plots

Innahum yakeedoona kaydan

وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًا

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

And I am plotting (vengeful) plots

Waakeedu kaydan

فَمَهِّلِ الْكَافِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًا

Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali

So give the disbelievers (more) leisure; give them leisure awhile

Famahhili alkafireena amhilhum ruwaydan
