۞ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یُدَ ٰفِعُ عَنِ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا یُحِبُّ كُلَّ خَوَّانࣲ كَفُورٍ ۝٣٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, Allah defends those who have believed. Indeed, Allah does not like everyone treacherous and ungrateful
Abdel Haleem: God will defend the believers; God does not love the unfaithful or the ungrateful
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! Allah defendeth those who are true. Lo! Allah loveth not each treacherous ingrate
The Believers 23:96 Verb
ٱدۡفَعۡ بِٱلَّتِی هِیَ أَحۡسَنُ ٱلسَّیِّئَةَۚ نَحۡنُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا یَصِفُونَ ۝٩٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Repel, by [means of] what is best, [their] evil. We are most knowing of what they describe
Abdel Haleem: Repel evil with good- We are well aware of what they attribute to Us
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Repel evil with that which is better. We are Best Aware of that which they allege
The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:167 Verb
وَلِیَعۡلَمَ ٱلَّذِینَ نَافَقُوا۟ۚ وَقِیلَ لَهُمۡ تَعَالَوۡا۟ قَـٰتِلُوا۟ فِی سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِ أَوِ ٱدۡفَعُوا۟ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَوۡ نَعۡلَمُ قِتَالࣰا لَّٱتَّبَعۡنَـٰكُمۡۗ هُمۡ لِلۡكُفۡرِ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ أَقۡرَبُ مِنۡهُمۡ لِلۡإِیمَـٰنِۚ یَقُولُونَ بِأَفۡوَ ٰهِهِم مَّا لَیۡسَ فِی قُلُوبِهِمۡۚ وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا یَكۡتُمُونَ ۝١٦٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And that He might make evident those who are hypocrites. For it was said to them, "Come, fight in the way of Allah or [at least] defend." They said, "If we had known [there would be] fighting, we would have followed you." They were nearer to disbelief that day than to faith, saying with their mouths what was not in their hearts. And Allah is most Knowing of what they conceal
Abdel Haleem: when it was said to them, ‘Come, fight for God’s cause, or at least defend yourselves,’ answered, ‘We would follow you if we knew there was going to be fighting.’ On that day they were closer to disbelief than belief. They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts: God knows exactly what they conceal
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And that He might know the hypocrites, unto whom it was said: Come, fight in the way of Allah, or defend yourselves. They answered: If we knew aught of fighting we would follow you. On that day they were nearer disbelief than faith. They utter with their mouths a thing which is not in their hearts. Allah is Best Aware of what they hide
Explained in Detail, Revelations Well Expounded 41:34 Verb
وَلَا تَسۡتَوِی ٱلۡحَسَنَةُ وَلَا ٱلسَّیِّئَةُۚ ٱدۡفَعۡ بِٱلَّتِی هِیَ أَحۡسَنُ فَإِذَا ٱلَّذِی بَیۡنَكَ وَبَیۡنَهُۥ عَدَ ٰوَةࣱ كَأَنَّهُۥ وَلِیٌّ حَمِیمࣱ ۝٣٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better; and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend
Abdel Haleem: Good and evil cannot be equal. [Prophet], repel evil with what is better and your enemy will become as close as an old and valued friend
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: The good deed and the evil deed are not alike. Repel the evil deed with one which is better, then lo! he, between whom and thee there was enmity (will become) as though he was a bosom friend
Women 4:6 Verb
وَٱبۡتَلُوا۟ ٱلۡیَتَـٰمَىٰ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا بَلَغُوا۟ ٱلنِّكَاحَ فَإِنۡ ءَانَسۡتُم مِّنۡهُمۡ رُشۡدࣰا فَٱدۡفَعُوۤا۟ إِلَیۡهِمۡ أَمۡوَ ٰلَهُمۡۖ وَلَا تَأۡكُلُوهَاۤ إِسۡرَافࣰا وَبِدَارًا أَن یَكۡبَرُوا۟ۚ وَمَن كَانَ غَنِیࣰّا فَلۡیَسۡتَعۡفِفۡۖ وَمَن كَانَ فَقِیرࣰا فَلۡیَأۡكُلۡ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۚ فَإِذَا دَفَعۡتُمۡ إِلَیۡهِمۡ أَمۡوَ ٰلَهُمۡ فَأَشۡهِدُوا۟ عَلَیۡهِمۡۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ حَسِیبࣰا ۝٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And test the orphans [in their abilities] until they reach marriageable age. Then if you perceive in them sound judgement, release their property to them. And do not consume it excessively and quickly, [anticipating] that they will grow up. And whoever, [when acting as guardian], is self-sufficient should refrain [from taking a fee]; and whoever is poor - let him take according to what is acceptable. Then when you release their property to them, bring witnesses upon them. And sufficient is Allah as Accountant
Abdel Haleem: Test orphans until they reach marriageable age; then, if you find they have sound judgement, hand over their property to them. Do not consume it hastily before they come of age: if the guardian is well off he should abstain from the orphan’s property, and if he is poor he should use only what is fair. When you give them their property, call witnesses in; but God takes full account of everything you do
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Prove orphans till they reach the marriageable age; then, if ye find them of sound judgment, deliver over unto them their fortune; and devour it not by squandering and in haste lest they should grow up Whoso (of the guardians) is rich, let him abstain generously (from taking of the property of orphans); and whoso is poor let him take thereof in reason (for his guardianship). And when ye deliver up their fortune unto orphans, have (the transaction) witnessed in their presence. Allah sufficeth as a Reckoner

The Pilgrimage 22:40 Noun
ٱلَّذِینَ أُخۡرِجُوا۟ مِن دِیَـٰرِهِم بِغَیۡرِ حَقٍّ إِلَّاۤ أَن یَقُولُوا۟ رَبُّنَا ٱللَّهُۗ وَلَوۡلَا دَفۡعُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلنَّاسَ بَعۡضَهُم بِبَعۡضࣲ لَّهُدِّمَتۡ صَوَ ٰمِعُ وَبِیَعࣱ وَصَلَوَ ٰتࣱ وَمَسَـٰجِدُ یُذۡكَرُ فِیهَا ٱسۡمُ ٱللَّهِ كَثِیرࣰاۗ وَلَیَنصُرَنَّ ٱللَّهُ مَن یَنصُرُهُۥۤۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَقَوِیٌّ عَزِیزٌ ۝٤٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without right - only because they say, "Our Lord is Allah ." And were it not that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allah is much mentioned. And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might
Abdel Haleem: those who have been driven unjustly from their homes only for saying, ‘Our Lord is God.’ If God did not repel some people by means of others, many monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, where God’s name is much invoked, would have been destroyed. God is sure to help those who help His cause- God is strong and mighty
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Those who have been driven from their homes unjustly only because they said: Our Lord is Allah - For had it not been for Allah's repelling some men by means of others, cloisters and churches and oratories and mosques, wherein the name of Allah is oft mentioned, would assuredly have been pulled down. Verily Allah helpeth one who helpeth Him. Lo! Allah is Strong, Almighty
The Cow 2:251 Noun
فَهَزَمُوهُم بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَتَلَ دَاوُۥدُ جَالُوتَ وَءَاتَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُلۡكَ وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ وَعَلَّمَهُۥ مِمَّا یَشَاۤءُۗ وَلَوۡلَا دَفۡعُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلنَّاسَ بَعۡضَهُم بِبَعۡضࣲ لَّفَسَدَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ذُو فَضۡلٍ عَلَى ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٢٥١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So they defeated them by permission of Allah , and David killed Goliath, and Allah gave him the kingship and prophethood and taught him from that which He willed. And if it were not for Allah checking [some] people by means of others, the earth would have been corrupted, but Allah is full of bounty to the worlds
Abdel Haleem: and so with God’s permission they defeated them. David killed Goliath, and God gave him sovereignty and wisdom and taught him what He pleased. If God did not drive some back by means of others the earth would be completely corrupt, but God is bountiful to all
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: So they routed them by Allah's leave and David slew Goliath; and Allah gave him the kingdom and wisdom, and taught him of that which He willeth. And if Allah had not repelled some men by others the earth would have been corrupted. But Allah is a Lord of Kindness to (His) creatures
The Mount, The Mountain 52:8 Noun
مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعࣲ ۝٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Of it there is no preventer

Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: There is none that can ward it off
The Ascending Stairways, The Ladders 70:2 Noun
لِّلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ لَیۡسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعࣱ ۝٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer
Abdel Haleem: It will fall on the disbelievers––none can deflect it––
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Upon the disbelievers, which none can repel
