Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Striking them with stones of hard clay
Abdel Haleem: pelting them with pellets of hard-baked clay
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Which pelted them with stones of baked clay
The Light 24:23 Verb
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یَرۡمُونَ ٱلۡمُحۡصَنَـٰتِ ٱلۡغَـٰفِلَـٰتِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتِ لُعِنُوا۟ فِی ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِیمࣱ ۝٢٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, those who [falsely] accuse chaste, unaware and believing women are cursed in this world and the Hereafter; and they will have a great punishmen
Abdel Haleem: Those who accuse honourable but unwary believing women are rejected by God, in this life and the next. A painful punishment awaits the
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! as for those who traduce virtuous, believing women (who are) careless, cursed are they in the world and the Hereafter. Theirs will be an awful doo
The Light 24:4 Verb
وَٱلَّذِینَ یَرۡمُونَ ٱلۡمُحۡصَنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ یَأۡتُوا۟ بِأَرۡبَعَةِ شُهَدَاۤءَ فَٱجۡلِدُوهُمۡ ثَمَـٰنِینَ جَلۡدَةࣰ وَلَا تَقۡبَلُوا۟ لَهُمۡ شَهَـٰدَةً أَبَدࣰاۚ وَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡفَـٰسِقُونَ ۝٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And those who accuse chaste women and then do not produce four witnesses - lash them with eighty lashes and do not accept from them testimony ever after. And those are the defiantly disobedient
Abdel Haleem: As for those who accuse chaste women of fornication, and then fail to provide four witnesses, strike them eighty times, and reject their testimony ever afterwards: they are the lawbreakers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And those who accuse honourable women but bring not four witnesses, scourge them (with) eighty stripes and never (afterward) accept their testimony - They indeed are evil-doers
The Light 24:6 Verb
وَٱلَّذِینَ یَرۡمُونَ أَزۡوَ ٰجَهُمۡ وَلَمۡ یَكُن لَّهُمۡ شُهَدَاۤءُ إِلَّاۤ أَنفُسُهُمۡ فَشَهَـٰدَةُ أَحَدِهِمۡ أَرۡبَعُ شَهَـٰدَ ٰتِۭ بِٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ۝٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And those who accuse their wives [of adultery] and have no witnesses except themselves - then the witness of one of them [shall be] four testimonies [swearing] by Allah that indeed, he is of the truthful
Abdel Haleem: As for those who accuse their own wives of adultery, but have no other witnesses, let each one four times call God to witness that he is telling the truth
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: As for those who accuse their wives but have no witnesses except themselves; let the testimony of one of them be four testimonies, (swearing) by Allah that he is of those who speak the truth
Women 4:112 Verb
وَمَن یَكۡسِبۡ خَطِیۤءَةً أَوۡ إِثۡمࣰا ثُمَّ یَرۡمِ بِهِۦ بَرِیۤءࣰا فَقَدِ ٱحۡتَمَلَ بُهۡتَـٰنࣰا وَإِثۡمࣰا مُّبِینࣰا ۝١١٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But whoever earns an offense or a sin and then blames it on an innocent [person] has taken upon himself a slander and manifest sin
Abdel Haleem: and anyone who commits an offence or a sin, and then throws the blame on to some innocent person, has burdened himself with deceit as well as flagrant sin
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And whoso committeth a delinquency or crime, then throweth (the blame) thereof upon the innocent, hath burdened himself with falsehood and a flagrant crime
The Emissaries, Winds Sent Forth 77:32 Verb
إِنَّهَا تَرۡمِی بِشَرَرࣲ كَٱلۡقَصۡرِ ۝٣٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, it throws sparks [as huge] as a fortress
Abdel Haleem: it shoots out sparks as large as treetrunk
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles
The Spoils of War 8:17 Verb
فَلَمۡ تَقۡتُلُوهُمۡ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَتَلَهُمۡۚ وَمَا رَمَیۡتَ إِذۡ رَمَیۡتَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ رَمَىٰ وَلِیُبۡلِیَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ مِنۡهُ بَلَاۤءً حَسَنًاۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِیعٌ عَلِیمࣱ ۝١٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And you did not kill them, but it was Allah who killed them. And you threw not, [O Muhammad], when you threw, but it was Allah who threw that He might test the believers with a good test. Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing
Abdel Haleem: It was not you who killed them but God, and when you [Prophet] threw [sand at them] it was not your throw [that defeated them] but God’s, to do the believers a favour: God is all seeing and all knowing
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Ye (Muslims) slew them not, but Allah slew them. And thou (Muhammad) threwest not when thou didst throw, but Allah threw, that He might test the believers by a fair test from Him. Lo! Allah is Hearer, Knower
