قُلۡ مَن یُنَجِّیكُم مِّن ظُلُمَـٰتِ ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ تَدۡعُونَهُۥ تَضَرُّعࣰا وَخُفۡیَةࣰ لَّىِٕنۡ أَنجَىٰنَا مِنۡ هَـٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلشَّـٰكِرِینَ ۝٦٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "Who rescues you from the darknesses of the land and sea [when] you call upon Him imploring [aloud] and privately, 'If He should save us from this [crisis], we will surely be among the thankful.' "
Abdel Haleem: Say [Prophet], ‘Who is it that saves you from the dark depths of land and sea when you humbly and secretly call to Him [and say], “If He rescues us from this, We shall truly be thankful”?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: Who delivereth you from the darkness of the land and the sea? Ye call upon Him humbly and in secret, (saying): If we are delivered from this (fear) we truly will be of the thankful
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:205 Noun
وَٱذۡكُر رَّبَّكَ فِی نَفۡسِكَ تَضَرُّعࣰا وَخِیفَةࣰ وَدُونَ ٱلۡجَهۡرِ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡلِ بِٱلۡغُدُوِّ وَٱلۡءَاصَالِ وَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡغَـٰفِلِینَ ۝٢٠٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And remember your Lord within yourself in humility and in fear without being apparent in speech - in the mornings and the evenings. And do not be among the heedless
Abdel Haleem: [Prophet], remember your Lord inwardly, in all humility and awe, without raising your voice, in the mornings and in the evenings- do not be one of the heedless
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And do thou (O Muhammad) remember thy Lord within thyself humbly and with awe, below thy breath, at morn and evening. And be not thou of the neglectful
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:55 Noun
ٱدۡعُوا۟ رَبَّكُمۡ تَضَرُّعࣰا وَخُفۡیَةًۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا یُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُعۡتَدِینَ ۝٥٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Call upon your Lord in humility and privately; indeed, He does not like transgressors
Abdel Haleem: Call on your Lord humbly and privately- He does not like those who transgress His bounds
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (O mankind!) Call upon your Lord humbly and in secret. Lo! He loveth not aggressors

لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plan
Abdel Haleem: with no food for them except bitter dry thorn
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: No food for them save bitter thorn-frui

The Believers 23:76 Verb
وَلَقَدۡ أَخَذۡنَـٰهُم بِٱلۡعَذَابِ فَمَا ٱسۡتَكَانُوا۟ لِرَبِّهِمۡ وَمَا یَتَضَرَّعُونَ ۝٧٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus]
Abdel Haleem: We have already afflicted them, yet they did not submit to their Lord: they will not humble themselve
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Already have We grasped them with punishment, but they humble not themselves unto their Lord, nor do they pray

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰۤ أُمَمࣲ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ فَأَخَذۡنَـٰهُم بِٱلۡبَأۡسَاۤءِ وَٱلضَّرَّاۤءِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَتَضَرَّعُونَ ۝٤٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We have already sent [messengers] to nations before you, [O Muhammad]; then We seized them with poverty and hardship that perhaps they might humble themselves [to Us]
Abdel Haleem: We sent messengers before you [Prophet] to many communities and afflicted their people with suffering and hardships, so that they could learn humility
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: We have sent already unto peoples that were before thee, and We visited them with tribulation and adversity, in order that they might grow humble
Cattle, Livestock 6:43 Verb
فَلَوۡلَاۤ إِذۡ جَاۤءَهُم بَأۡسُنَا تَضَرَّعُوا۟ وَلَـٰكِن قَسَتۡ قُلُوبُهُمۡ وَزَیَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ مَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٤٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then why, when Our punishment came to them, did they not humble themselves? But their hearts became hardened, and Satan made attractive to them that which they were doing
Abdel Haleem: If only they had learned humility when suffering came from Us! But no, their hearts became hard and Satan made their foul deeds alluring to them
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: If only, when Our disaster came on them, they had been humble! But their hearts were hardened and the devil made all that they used to do seem fair unto them
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:94 Verb
وَمَاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَا فِی قَرۡیَةࣲ مِّن نَّبِیٍّ إِلَّاۤ أَخَذۡنَاۤ أَهۡلَهَا بِٱلۡبَأۡسَاۤءِ وَٱلضَّرَّاۤءِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَضَّرَّعُونَ ۝٩٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We sent to no city a prophet [who was denied] except that We seized its people with poverty and hardship that they might humble themselves [to Allah ]
Abdel Haleem: Whenever We sent a prophet to a town, We afflicted its [disbelieving] people with suffering and hardships, so that they might humble themselves [before God]
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And We sent no prophet unto any township but We did afflict its folk with tribulation and adversity that haply they might grow humble
