Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray?"
Abdel Haleem: He said, ‘Who but the misguided despair of the mercy of their Lord?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He said: And who despaireth of the mercy of his Lord save those who are astray
The Romans, The Byzantines 30:36 Verb
وَإِذَاۤ أَذَقۡنَا ٱلنَّاسَ رَحۡمَةࣰ فَرِحُوا۟ بِهَاۖ وَإِن تُصِبۡهُمۡ سَیِّئَةُۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ أَیۡدِیهِمۡ إِذَا هُمۡ یَقۡنَطُونَ ۝٣٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And when We let the people taste mercy, they rejoice therein, but if evil afflicts them for what their hands have put forth, immediately they despair
Abdel Haleem: When We give people a taste of Our blessing, they rejoice, but when something bad happens to them- because of their own actions- they fall into utter despair
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when We cause mankind to taste of mercy they rejoice therein; but if an evil thing befall them as the consequence of their own deeds, lo! they are in despair

۞ قُلۡ یَـٰعِبَادِیَ ٱلَّذِینَ أَسۡرَفُوا۟ عَلَىٰۤ أَنفُسِهِمۡ لَا تَقۡنَطُوا۟ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَغۡفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ جَمِیعًاۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٥٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah . Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘[God says], My servants who have harmed yourselves by your own excess, do not despair of God’s mercy. God forgives all sins: He is truly the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: O My slaves who have been prodigal to their own hurt! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, Who forgiveth all sins. Lo! He is the Forgiving, the Merciful
Council, Consultation, The Counsel 42:28 Verb
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی یُنَزِّلُ ٱلۡغَیۡثَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا قَنَطُوا۟ وَیَنشُرُ رَحۡمَتَهُۥۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡوَلِیُّ ٱلۡحَمِیدُ ۝٢٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And it is He who sends down the rain after they had despaired and spreads His mercy. And He is the Protector, the Praiseworthy
Abdel Haleem: it is He who sends relief through rain after they have lost hope, and spreads His mercy far and wide. He is the Protector, Worthy of All Praise
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And He it is Who sendeth down the saving rain after they have despaired, and spreadeth out His mercy. He is the Protecting Friend, the Praiseworthy

قَالُوا۟ بَشَّرۡنَـٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡقَـٰنِطِینَ ۝٥٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They said, "We have given you good tidings in truth, so do not be of the despairing."
Abdel Haleem: They said, ‘We have told you the truth, so do not despair.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They said: We bring thee good tidings in truth. So be not thou of the despairing

لَّا یَسۡءَمُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ مِن دُعَاۤءِ ٱلۡخَیۡرِ وَإِن مَّسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ فَیَءُوسࣱ قَنُوطࣱ ۝٤٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Man is not weary of supplication for good [things], but if evil touches him, he is hopeless and despairing
Abdel Haleem: Man never tires of asking for good, but if evil touches him he loses all hope and becomes despondent
