47 قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّیۤ أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنۡ أَسۡءَلَكَ مَا لَیۡسَ لِی بِهِۦ عِلۡمࣱۖ وَإِلَّا تَغۡفِرۡ لِی وَتَرۡحَمۡنِیۤ أَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرِینَ ۝٤٧ qāla rabbi innī aʿūdhu bika an asalaka mā laysa lī bihi ʿil'mun wa-illā taghfir lī watarḥamnī akun mina l-khāsirīn He said, ‘My Lord, I take refuge with You from asking for things I know nothing about. If You do not forgive me, and have mercy on me, I shall be one of the losers.’ 48 قِیلَ یَـٰنُوحُ ٱهۡبِطۡ بِسَلَـٰمࣲ مِّنَّا وَبَرَكَـٰتٍ عَلَیۡكَ وَعَلَىٰۤ أُمَمࣲ مِّمَّن مَّعَكَۚ وَأُمَمࣱ سَنُمَتِّعُهُمۡ ثُمَّ یَمَسُّهُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝٤٨ qīla yānūḥu ih'biṭ bisalāmin minnā wabarakātin ʿalayka waʿalā umamin mimman maʿaka wa-umamun sanumattiʿuhum thumma yamassuhum minnā ʿadhābun alīmu And it was said, ‘Noah, descend in peace from Us, with blessings on you and on some of the communities that will spring from those who are with you. There will be others We will allow to enjoy life for a time, but then a painful punishment from Us will afflict them.’ 49 تِلۡكَ مِنۡ أَنۢبَاۤءِ ٱلۡغَیۡبِ نُوحِیهَاۤ إِلَیۡكَۖ مَا كُنتَ تَعۡلَمُهَاۤ أَنتَ وَلَا قَوۡمُكَ مِن قَبۡلِ هَـٰذَاۖ فَٱصۡبِرۡۖ إِنَّ ٱلۡعَـٰقِبَةَ لِلۡمُتَّقِینَ ۝٤٩ til'ka min anbāi l-ghaybi nūḥīhā ilayka mā kunta taʿlamuhā anta walā qawmuka min qabli hādhā fa-iṣ'bir inna l-ʿāqibata lil'muttaqīn These accounts are part of what was beyond your knowledge [Muhammad]. We revealed them to you. Neither you nor your people knew them before now, so be patient: the future belongs to those who are aware of God 50 وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمۡ هُودࣰاۚ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۤۖ إِنۡ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا مُفۡتَرُونَ ۝٥٠ wa-ilā ʿādin akhāhum hūdan qāla yāqawmi uʿ'budū l-laha mā lakum min ilāhin ghayruhu in antum illā muf'tarūn To the Ad, We sent their brother, Hud. He said, ‘My people, worship God. You have no god other than Him; you are only making up lies

51 یَـٰقَوۡمِ لَاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ أَجۡرًاۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱلَّذِی فَطَرَنِیۤۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٥١ yāqawmi lā asalukum ʿalayhi ajran in ajriya illā ʿalā alladhī faṭaranī afalā taʿqilūn I ask no reward from you, my people; my reward comes only from Him who created me. Why do you not use your reason

52 وَیَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱسۡتَغۡفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمۡ ثُمَّ تُوبُوۤا۟ إِلَیۡهِ یُرۡسِلِ ٱلسَّمَاۤءَ عَلَیۡكُم مِّدۡرَارࣰا وَیَزِدۡكُمۡ قُوَّةً إِلَىٰ قُوَّتِكُمۡ وَلَا تَتَوَلَّوۡا۟ مُجۡرِمِینَ ۝٥٢ wayāqawmi is'taghfirū rabbakum thumma tūbū ilayhi yur'sili l-samāa ʿalaykum mid'rāran wayazid'kum quwwatan ilā quwwatikum walā tatawallaw muj'rimīn My people, ask forgiveness from your Lord, and return to Him. He will send down for you rain in abundance from the sky, and give you extra strength. Do not turn away and be lost in your sins.’ 53 قَالُوا۟ یَـٰهُودُ مَا جِئۡتَنَا بِبَیِّنَةࣲ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِتَارِكِیۤ ءَالِهَتِنَا عَن قَوۡلِكَ وَمَا نَحۡنُ لَكَ بِمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٥٣ qālū yāhūdu mā ji'tanā bibayyinatin wamā naḥnu bitārikī ālihatinā ʿan qawlika wamā naḥnu laka bimu'minīn They replied, ‘Hud, you have not brought us any clear evidence. We will not forsake our gods on the strength of your word alone, nor will we believe in you 54 إِن نَّقُولُ إِلَّا ٱعۡتَرَىٰكَ بَعۡضُ ءَالِهَتِنَا بِسُوۤءࣲۗ قَالَ إِنِّیۤ أُشۡهِدُ ٱللَّهَ وَٱشۡهَدُوۤا۟ أَنِّی بَرِیۤءࣱ مِّمَّا تُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٥٤ in naqūlu illā iʿ'tarāka baʿḍu ālihatinā bisūin qāla innī ush'hidu l-laha wa-ish'hadū annī barīon mimmā tush'rikūn All we can say is that one of our gods may have inflicted some harm on you.’ He said, ‘I call God to witness, and you too are my witnesses, that I disown those you set up as partners with God 55 مِن دُونِهِۦۖ فَكِیدُونِی جَمِیعࣰا ثُمَّ لَا تُنظِرُونِ ۝٥٥ min dūnihi fakīdūnī jamīʿan thumma lā tunẓirūn So plot against me, all of you, and give me no respite
