35 ۞ مَّثَلُ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ ٱلَّتِی وُعِدَ ٱلۡمُتَّقُونَۖ تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُۖ أُكُلُهَا دَاۤىِٕمࣱ وَظِلُّهَاۚ تِلۡكَ عُقۡبَى ٱلَّذِینَ ٱتَّقَوا۟ۚ وَّعُقۡبَى ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ٱلنَّارُ ۝٣٥ mathalu l-janati allatī wuʿida l-mutaqūna tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru ukuluhā dāimun waẓilluhā til'ka ʿuq'bā alladhīna ittaqaw waʿuq'bā l-kāfirīna l-nār Here is a picture of the Garden that those mindful of God have been promised: flowing streams and perpetual food and shade. This is the reward that awaits those who are mindful of God; the disbelievers’ reward is the Fire 36 وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ یَفۡرَحُونَ بِمَاۤ أُنزِلَ إِلَیۡكَۖ وَمِنَ ٱلۡأَحۡزَابِ مَن یُنكِرُ بَعۡضَهُۥۚ قُلۡ إِنَّمَاۤ أُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَعۡبُدَ ٱللَّهَ وَلَاۤ أُشۡرِكَ بِهِۦۤۚ إِلَیۡهِ أَدۡعُوا۟ وَإِلَیۡهِ مَءَابِ ۝٣٦ wa-alladhīna ātaynāhumu l-kitāba yafraḥūna bimā unzila ilayka wamina l-aḥzābi man yunkiru baʿḍahu qul innamā umir'tu an aʿbuda l-laha walā ush'rika bihi ilayhi adʿū wa-ilayhi maāb Those to whom We sent the Scripture rejoice in what has been revealed to you [Prophet]; some factions deny parts of it. Say, ‘I am commanded to worship God, and not join anything with Him in worship: to Him I call [others] and to Him I shall return.’ 37 وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ حُكۡمًا عَرَبِیࣰّاۚ وَلَىِٕنِ ٱتَّبَعۡتَ أَهۡوَاۤءَهُم بَعۡدَ مَا جَاۤءَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ مَا لَكَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِیࣲّ وَلَا وَاقࣲ ۝٣٧ wakadhālika anzalnāhu ḥuk'man ʿarabiyyan wala-ini ittabaʿta ahwāahum baʿdamā jāaka mina l-ʿil'mi mā laka mina l-lahi min waliyyin walā wāqi So We have sent down the Quran to give judgement in the Arabic language. If you were to follow their desires, after the knowledge that has come to you, you would have no one to guard you or protect you from God 38 وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا رُسُلࣰا مِّن قَبۡلِكَ وَجَعَلۡنَا لَهُمۡ أَزۡوَ ٰجࣰا وَذُرِّیَّةࣰۚ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن یَأۡتِیَ بِءَایَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۗ لِكُلِّ أَجَلࣲ كِتَابࣱ ۝٣٨ walaqad arsalnā rusulan min qablika wajaʿalnā lahum azwājan wadhurriyyatan wamā kāna lirasūlin an yatiya biāyatin illā bi-idh'ni l-lahi likulli ajalin kitābu We sent messengers before you and gave them wives and offspring; no messenger was given the power to produce a miracle except with God’s permission. There was a Scripture for every age
39 یَمۡحُوا۟ ٱللَّهُ مَا یَشَاۤءُ وَیُثۡبِتُۖ وَعِندَهُۥۤ أُمُّ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ ۝٣٩ yamḥū l-lahu mā yashāu wayuth'bitu waʿindahu ummu l-kitāb God erases or confirms whatever He will, and the source of Scripture is with Him
40 وَإِن مَّا نُرِیَنَّكَ بَعۡضَ ٱلَّذِی نَعِدُهُمۡ أَوۡ نَتَوَفَّیَنَّكَ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَیۡكَ ٱلۡبَلَـٰغُ وَعَلَیۡنَا ٱلۡحِسَابُ ۝٤٠ wa-in mā nuriyannaka baʿḍa alladhī naʿiduhum aw natawaffayannaka fa-innamā ʿalayka l-balāghu waʿalaynā l-ḥisāb Whether We let you [Prophet] see part of what We threaten them with, or cause you to die [before that], your duty is only to deliver the message: the Reckoning is Ours 41 أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ أَنَّا نَأۡتِی ٱلۡأَرۡضَ نَنقُصُهَا مِنۡ أَطۡرَافِهَاۚ وَٱللَّهُ یَحۡكُمُ لَا مُعَقِّبَ لِحُكۡمِهِۦۚ وَهُوَ سَرِیعُ ٱلۡحِسَابِ ۝٤١ awalam yaraw annā natī l-arḍa nanquṣuhā min aṭrāfihā wal-lahu yaḥkumu lā muʿaqqiba liḥuk'mihi wahuwa sarīʿu l-ḥisāb Do they not see how We come to [their] land and shrink its borders? God decides- no one can reverse His decision- and He is swift in reckoning 42 وَقَدۡ مَكَرَ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ فَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡمَكۡرُ جَمِیعࣰاۖ یَعۡلَمُ مَا تَكۡسِبُ كُلُّ نَفۡسࣲۗ وَسَیَعۡلَمُ ٱلۡكُفَّـٰرُ لِمَنۡ عُقۡبَى ٱلدَّارِ ۝٤٢ waqad makara alladhīna min qablihim falillahi l-makru jamīʿan yaʿlamu mā taksibu kullu nafsin wasayaʿlamu l-kufāru liman ʿuq'bā l-dār Those before them also schemed, but the overall scheme belongs to God: He knows what each soul does. In the end, the disbelievers will find out who will have the excellent home 43 وَیَقُولُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَسۡتَ مُرۡسَلࣰاۚ قُلۡ كَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِیدَۢا بَیۡنِی وَبَیۡنَكُمۡ وَمَنۡ عِندَهُۥ عِلۡمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ ۝٤٣ wayaqūlu alladhīna kafarū lasta mur'salan qul kafā bil-lahi shahīdan baynī wabaynakum waman ʿindahu ʿil'mu l-kitāb They say, ‘You have not been sent.’ Say, ‘God is sufficient witness between me and you: all knowledge of the Scripture comes from Him.’
