Verse 19:51 in Context

47 قَالَ سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَیۡكَۖ سَأَسۡتَغۡفِرُ لَكَ رَبِّیۤۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِی حَفِیࣰّا ۝٤٧ qāla salāmun ʿalayka sa-astaghfiru laka rabbī innahu kāna bī ḥafiyya Abraham said, ‘Peace be with you: I will beg my Lord to forgive you- He is always gracious to me 48 وَأَعۡتَزِلُكُمۡ وَمَا تَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَدۡعُوا۟ رَبِّی عَسَىٰۤ أَلَّاۤ أَكُونَ بِدُعَاۤءِ رَبِّی شَقِیࣰّا ۝٤٨ wa-aʿtazilukum wamā tadʿūna min dūni l-lahi wa-adʿū rabbī ʿasā allā akūna biduʿāi rabbī shaqiyya but for now I will leave you, and the idols you all pray to, and I will pray to my Lord and trust that my prayer will not be in vain.’ 49 فَلَمَّا ٱعۡتَزَلَهُمۡ وَمَا یَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥۤ إِسۡحَـٰقَ وَیَعۡقُوبَۖ وَكُلࣰّا جَعَلۡنَا نَبِیࣰّا ۝٤٩ falammā iʿ'tazalahum wamā yaʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi wahabnā lahu is'ḥāqa wayaʿqūba wakullan jaʿalnā nabiyya When he left his people and those they served beside God, We granted him Isaac and Jacob and made them both prophets 50 وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُم مِّن رَّحۡمَتِنَا وَجَعَلۡنَا لَهُمۡ لِسَانَ صِدۡقٍ عَلِیࣰّا ۝٥٠ wawahabnā lahum min raḥmatinā wajaʿalnā lahum lisāna ṣid'qin ʿaliyya We granted Our grace to all of them, and gave them a noble reputation
51 وَٱذۡكُرۡ فِی ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ مُوسَىٰۤۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مُخۡلَصࣰا وَكَانَ رَسُولࣰا نَّبِیࣰّا ۝٥١ wa-udh'kur fī l-kitābi mūsā innahu kāna mukh'laṣan wakāna rasūlan nabiyya Mention too, in the Quran, the story of Moses. He was specially chosen, a messenger and a prophet
52 وَنَـٰدَیۡنَـٰهُ مِن جَانِبِ ٱلطُّورِ ٱلۡأَیۡمَنِ وَقَرَّبۡنَـٰهُ نَجِیࣰّا ۝٥٢ wanādaynāhu min jānibi l-ṭūri l-aymani waqarrabnāhu najiyya We called to him from the right-hand side of the mountain and brought him close to Us in secret communion 53 وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥ مِن رَّحۡمَتِنَاۤ أَخَاهُ هَـٰرُونَ نَبِیࣰّا ۝٥٣ wawahabnā lahu min raḥmatinā akhāhu hārūna nabiyya out of Our grace We granted him his brother Aaron as a prophet 54 وَٱذۡكُرۡ فِی ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ إِسۡمَـٰعِیلَۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صَادِقَ ٱلۡوَعۡدِ وَكَانَ رَسُولࣰا نَّبِیࣰّا ۝٥٤ wa-udh'kur fī l-kitābi is'māʿīla innahu kāna ṣādiqa l-waʿdi wakāna rasūlan nabiyya Mention too, in the Quran, the story of Ishmael. He was true to his promise, a messenger and a prophet 55 وَكَانَ یَأۡمُرُ أَهۡلَهُۥ بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ وَكَانَ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦ مَرۡضِیࣰّا ۝٥٥ wakāna yamuru ahlahu bil-ṣalati wal-zakati wakāna ʿinda rabbihi marḍiyya He commanded his household to pray and give alms, and his Lord was well pleased with him
