Verse 26:167 in Context

163
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ١٦٣
fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn
be mindful of God and obey me
164
وَمَاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ١٦٤
wamā asalukum ʿalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illā ʿalā rabbi l-ʿālamīn
I ask no reward from you, for my only reward is with the Lord of the Worlds
165
أَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلذُّكۡرَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ١٦٥
atatūna l-dhuk'rāna mina l-ʿālamīn
Must you, unlike [other] people, lust after male
166
وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمۡ رَبُّكُم مِّنۡ أَزۡوَ ٰجِكُمۚ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمٌ عَادُونَ ١٦٦
watadharūna mā khalaqa lakum rabbukum min azwājikum bal antum qawmun ʿādūn
and abandon the wives that God has created for you? You are exceeding all bounds,’
167
قَالُوا۟ لَىِٕن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ یَـٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُخۡرَجِینَ ١٦٧
qālū la-in lam tantahi yālūṭu latakūnanna mina l-mukh'rajīn
but they replied, ‘Lot! If you do not stop this, you will be driven away.’
168
قَالَ إِنِّی لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقَالِینَ ١٦٨
qāla innī liʿamalikum mina l-qālīn
So he said, ‘I loathe what you do
169
رَبِّ نَجِّنِی وَأَهۡلِی مِمَّا یَعۡمَلُونَ ١٦٩
rabbi najjinī wa-ahlī mimmā yaʿmalūn
Lord, save me and my family from what they are doing.’
170
فَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥۤ أَجۡمَعِینَ ١٧٠
fanajjaynāhu wa-ahlahu ajmaʿīn
We saved him and all his family
171
إِلَّا عَجُوزࣰا فِی ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ ١٧١
illā ʿajūzan fī l-ghābirīn
except for an old woman who stayed behind
