Verse 26:172 in Context

168 قَالَ إِنِّی لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقَالِینَ ۝١٦٨ qāla innī liʿamalikum mina l-qālīn So he said, ‘I loathe what you do 169 رَبِّ نَجِّنِی وَأَهۡلِی مِمَّا یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٦٩ rabbi najjinī wa-ahlī mimmā yaʿmalūn Lord, save me and my family from what they are doing.’ 170 فَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥۤ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝١٧٠ fanajjaynāhu wa-ahlahu ajmaʿīn We saved him and all his family 171 إِلَّا عَجُوزࣰا فِی ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ ۝١٧١ illā ʿajūzan fī l-ghābirīn except for an old woman who stayed behind
172 ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا ٱلۡءَاخَرِینَ ۝١٧٢ thumma dammarnā l-ākharīn then We destroyed the others
173 وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَیۡهِم مَّطَرࣰاۖ فَسَاۤءَ مَطَرُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِینَ ۝١٧٣ wa-amṭarnā ʿalayhim maṭaran fasāa maṭaru l-mundharīn and poured a rain of destruction down upon them. How dreadful that rain was for those who had been forewarned 174 إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٧٤ inna fī dhālika laāyatan wamā kāna aktharuhum mu'minīn There truly is a sign in this, though most of them will not believe 175 وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٧٥ wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm your Lord alone is the Almighty, the Merciful 176 كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ لۡءَیۡكَةِ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٧٦ kadhaba aṣḥābu al'aykati l-mur'salīn The forest-dwellers, too, called the messengers liars
