Verse 3:135 in Context

131
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِیۤ أُعِدَّتۡ لِلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ١٣١
wa-ittaqū l-nāra allatī uʿiddat lil'kāfirīn
beware of the Fire prepared for those who ignore [Him]
132
وَأَطِیعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُرۡحَمُونَ ١٣٢
wa-aṭīʿū l-laha wal-rasūla laʿallakum tur'ḥamūn
and obey God and the Prophet so that you may be given mercy
133
۞ وَسَارِعُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ مَغۡفِرَةࣲ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرۡضُهَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ أُعِدَّتۡ لِلۡمُتَّقِینَ ١٣٣
wasāriʿū ilā maghfiratin min rabbikum wajannatin ʿarḍuhā l-samāwātu wal-arḍu uʿiddat lil'muttaqīn
Hurry towards your Lord’s forgiveness and a Garden as wide as the heavens and earth prepared for the righteous
134
ٱلَّذِینَ یُنفِقُونَ فِی ٱلسَّرَّاۤءِ وَٱلضَّرَّاۤءِ وَٱلۡكَـٰظِمِینَ ٱلۡغَیۡظَ وَٱلۡعَافِینَ عَنِ ٱلنَّاسِۗ وَٱللَّهُ یُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ١٣٤
alladhīna yunfiqūna fī l-sarāi wal-ḍarāi wal-kāẓimīna l-ghayẓa wal-ʿāfīna ʿani l-nāsi wal-lahu yuḥibbu l-muḥ'sinīn
who give, both in prosperity and adversity, who restrain their anger and pardon people- God loves those who do good
135
وَٱلَّذِینَ إِذَا فَعَلُوا۟ فَـٰحِشَةً أَوۡ ظَلَمُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡ ذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَٱسۡتَغۡفَرُوا۟ لِذُنُوبِهِمۡ وَمَن یَغۡفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ وَلَمۡ یُصِرُّوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلُوا۟ وَهُمۡ یَعۡلَمُونَ ١٣٥
wa-alladhīna idhā faʿalū fāḥishatan aw ẓalamū anfusahum dhakarū l-laha fa-is'taghfarū lidhunūbihim waman yaghfiru l-dhunūba illā l-lahu walam yuṣirrū ʿalā mā faʿalū wahum yaʿlamūn
those who remember God and implore forgiveness for their sins if they do something shameful or wrong themselves- who forgives sins but God?- and who never knowingly persist in doing wrong
136
أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ جَزَاۤؤُهُم مَّغۡفِرَةࣱ مِّن رَّبِّهِمۡ وَجَنَّـٰتࣱ تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَاۚ وَنِعۡمَ أَجۡرُ ٱلۡعَـٰمِلِینَ ١٣٦
ulāika jazāuhum maghfiratun min rabbihim wajannātun tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru khālidīna fīhā waniʿ'ma ajru l-ʿāmilīn
The reward for such people is forgiveness from their Lord, and Gardens graced with flowing streams, where they will remain. How excellent is the reward of those who labour
137
قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ سُنَنࣱ فَسِیرُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَیۡفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ١٣٧
qad khalat min qablikum sunanun fasīrū fī l-arḍi fa-unẓurū kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mukadhibīn
God’s ways have operated before your time: travel through the land, and see what was the end of those who disbelieved
138
هَـٰذَا بَیَانࣱ لِّلنَّاسِ وَهُدࣰى وَمَوۡعِظَةࣱ لِّلۡمُتَّقِینَ ١٣٨
hādhā bayānun lilnnāsi wahudan wamawʿiẓatun lil'muttaqīn
This is a clear lesson to people, and guidance and teaching for those who are mindful of God
139
وَلَا تَهِنُوا۟ وَلَا تَحۡزَنُوا۟ وَأَنتُمُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَوۡنَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ١٣٩
walā tahinū walā taḥzanū wa-antumu l-aʿlawna in kuntum mu'minīn
Do not lose heart or despair- if you are true believers you have the upper hand
