Verse 36:15 in Context

11 إِنَّمَا تُنذِرُ مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلذِّكۡرَ وَخَشِیَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنَ بِٱلۡغَیۡبِۖ فَبَشِّرۡهُ بِمَغۡفِرَةࣲ وَأَجۡرࣲ كَرِیمٍ ۝١١ innamā tundhiru mani ittabaʿa l-dhik'ra wakhashiya l-raḥmāna bil-ghaybi fabashir'hu bimaghfiratin wa-ajrin karīmi You can warn only those who will follow the Quran and hold the Merciful One in awe, though they cannot see Him: give such people the glad news of forgiveness and a noble reward 12 إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نُحۡیِ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ وَنَكۡتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا۟ وَءَاثَـٰرَهُمۡۚ وَكُلَّ شَیۡءٍ أَحۡصَیۡنَـٰهُ فِیۤ إِمَامࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝١٢ innā naḥnu nuḥ'yī l-mawtā wanaktubu mā qaddamū waāthārahum wakulla shayin aḥṣaynāhu fī imāmin mubīni We shall certainly bring the dead back to life, and We record what they send ahead of them as well as what they leave behind: We keep an account of everything in a clear Record 13 وَٱضۡرِبۡ لَهُم مَّثَلًا أَصۡحَـٰبَ ٱلۡقَرۡیَةِ إِذۡ جَاۤءَهَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝١٣ wa-iḍ'rib lahum mathalan aṣḥāba l-qaryati idh jāahā l-mur'salūn Give them the example of the people to whose town messengers came 14 إِذۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِمُ ٱثۡنَیۡنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزۡنَا بِثَالِثࣲ فَقَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّاۤ إِلَیۡكُم مُّرۡسَلُونَ ۝١٤ idh arsalnā ilayhimu ith'nayni fakadhabūhumā faʿazzaznā bithālithin faqālū innā ilaykum mur'salūn We sent two messengers but they rejected both. Then We reinforced them with a third
15 قَالُوا۟ مَاۤ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُنَا وَمَاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ مِن شَیۡءٍ إِنۡ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا تَكۡذِبُونَ ۝١٥ qālū mā antum illā basharun mith'lunā wamā anzala l-raḥmānu min shayin in antum illā takdhibūn They said, ‘Truly, we are messengers to you,’
16 قَالُوا۟ رَبُّنَا یَعۡلَمُ إِنَّاۤ إِلَیۡكُمۡ لَمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝١٦ qālū rabbunā yaʿlamu innā ilaykum lamur'salūn but they answered, ‘You are only men like ourselves. The Lord of Mercy has sent nothing; you are just lying.’ They said, ‘Our Lord knows that we have been sent to you 17 وَمَا عَلَیۡنَاۤ إِلَّا ٱلۡبَلَـٰغُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝١٧ wamā ʿalaynā illā l-balāghu l-mubīn Our duty is only to deliver the message to you,’ 18 قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّا تَطَیَّرۡنَا بِكُمۡۖ لَىِٕن لَّمۡ تَنتَهُوا۟ لَنَرۡجُمَنَّكُمۡ وَلَیَمَسَّنَّكُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝١٨ qālū innā taṭayyarnā bikum la-in lam tantahū lanarjumannakum walayamassannakum minnā ʿadhābun alīmu but they answered, ‘We think you are an evil omen. If you do not stop, we shall stone you, and inflict a painful torment on you.’ 19 قَالُوا۟ طَـٰۤىِٕرُكُم مَّعَكُمۡ أَىِٕن ذُكِّرۡتُمۚ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمࣱ مُّسۡرِفُونَ ۝١٩ qālū ṭāirukum maʿakum a-in dhukkir'tum bal antum qawmun mus'rifūn The messengers said, ‘The evil omen is within yourselves. Why do you take it as an evil omen when you are reminded of the Truth? You are going too far!’
