137 وَإِنَّكُمۡ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَیۡهِم مُّصۡبِحِینَ ۝١٣٧ wa-innakum latamurrūna ʿalayhim muṣ'biḥīn You [people] pass by their ruins mornin 138 وَبِٱلَّیۡلِۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝١٣٨ wabi-al-layli afalā taʿqilūn and night: will you not take heed 139 وَإِنَّ یُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٣٩ wa-inna yūnusa lamina l-mur'salīn Jonah too was one of the messengers 140 إِذۡ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ ۝١٤٠ idh abaqa ilā l-ful'ki l-mashḥūn He fled to the overloaded ship
141 فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُدۡحَضِینَ ۝١٤١ fasāhama fakāna mina l-mud'ḥaḍīn They cast lots, he suffered defeat
142 فَٱلۡتَقَمَهُ ٱلۡحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِیمࣱ ۝١٤٢ fal-taqamahu l-ḥūtu wahuwa mulīmu and a great fish swallowed him, for he had committed blameworthy acts 143 فَلَوۡلَاۤ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحِینَ ۝١٤٣ falawlā annahu kāna mina l-musabiḥīn If he had not been one of those who glorified God 144 لَلَبِثَ فِی بَطۡنِهِۦۤ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ یُبۡعَثُونَ ۝١٤٤ lalabitha fī baṭnihi ilā yawmi yub'ʿathūn he would have stayed in its belly until the Day when all are raised up 145 ۞ فَنَبَذۡنَـٰهُ بِٱلۡعَرَاۤءِ وَهُوَ سَقِیمࣱ ۝١٤٥ fanabadhnāhu bil-ʿarāi wahuwa saqīmu but We cast him out, sick, on to a barren shore
