Verse 52:20 in Context

16 ٱصۡلَوۡهَا فَٱصۡبِرُوۤا۟ أَوۡ لَا تَصۡبِرُوا۟ سَوَاۤءٌ عَلَیۡكُمۡۖ إِنَّمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٦ iṣ'lawhā fa-iṣ'birū aw lā taṣbirū sawāon ʿalaykum innamā tuj'zawna mā kuntum taʿmalūn Burn in it––it makes no difference whether you bear it patiently or not–– you are only being repaid for what you have done.’ 17 إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِینَ فِی جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَنَعِیمࣲ ۝١٧ inna l-mutaqīna fī jannātin wanaʿīmi Those who were mindful of God are in Gardens and in bliss 18 فَـٰكِهِینَ بِمَاۤ ءَاتَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ وَوَقَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝١٨ fākihīna bimā ātāhum rabbuhum wawaqāhum rabbuhum ʿadhāba l-jaḥīm rejoicing in their Lord’s gifts: He has saved them from the torment of the Blaze 19 كُلُوا۟ وَٱشۡرَبُوا۟ هَنِیۤءَۢا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٩ kulū wa-ish'rabū hanīan bimā kuntum taʿmalūn ‘Eat and drink with healthy enjoyment as a reward for what you have done.’
20 مُتَّكِءِینَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرࣲ مَّصۡفُوفَةࣲۖ وَزَوَّجۡنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِینࣲ ۝٢٠ muttakiīna ʿalā sururin maṣfūfatin wazawwajnāhum biḥūrin ʿīni They are comfortably seated on couches arranged in rows; We pair them with beautiful-eyed maidens
21 وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعَتۡهُمۡ ذُرِّیَّتُهُم بِإِیمَـٰنٍ أَلۡحَقۡنَا بِهِمۡ ذُرِّیَّتَهُمۡ وَمَاۤ أَلَتۡنَـٰهُم مِّنۡ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَیۡءࣲۚ كُلُّ ٱمۡرِىِٕۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِینࣱ ۝٢١ wa-alladhīna āmanū wa-ittabaʿathum dhurriyyatuhum biīmānin alḥaqnā bihim dhurriyyatahum wamā alatnāhum min ʿamalihim min shayin kullu im'ri-in bimā kasaba rahīnu We unite the believers with their offspring who followed them in faith–– We do not deny them any of the rewards for their deeds: each person is in pledge for his own deeds–– 22 وَأَمۡدَدۡنَـٰهُم بِفَـٰكِهَةࣲ وَلَحۡمࣲ مِّمَّا یَشۡتَهُونَ ۝٢٢ wa-amdadnāhum bifākihatin walaḥmin mimmā yashtahūn We provide them with any fruit or meat they desire 23 یَتَنَـٰزَعُونَ فِیهَا كَأۡسࣰا لَّا لَغۡوࣱ فِیهَا وَلَا تَأۡثِیمࣱ ۝٢٣ yatanāzaʿūna fīhā kasan lā laghwun fīhā walā tathīmu They pass around a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin 24 ۞ وَیَطُوفُ عَلَیۡهِمۡ غِلۡمَانࣱ لَّهُمۡ كَأَنَّهُمۡ لُؤۡلُؤࣱ مَّكۡنُونࣱ ۝٢٤ wayaṭūfu ʿalayhim ghil'mānun lahum ka-annahum lu'lu-on maknūnu Devoted youths like hidden pearls wait on them
