1 ۞ یُسَبِّحُ لِلَّهِ مَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَمَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلۡمَلِكِ ٱلۡقُدُّوسِ ٱلۡعَزِیزِ ٱلۡحَكِیمِ ۝١ yusabbiḥu lillahi mā fī l-samāwāti wamā fī l-arḍi l-maliki l-qudūsi l-ʿazīzi l-ḥakīm Everything in the heavens and earth glorifies God, the Controller, the Holy One, the Almighty, the Wise 2 هُوَ ٱلَّذِی بَعَثَ فِی ٱلۡأُمِّیِّـۧنَ رَسُولࣰا مِّنۡهُمۡ یَتۡلُوا۟ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَایَـٰتِهِۦ وَیُزَكِّیهِمۡ وَیُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ وَإِن كَانُوا۟ مِن قَبۡلُ لَفِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٢ huwa alladhī baʿatha fī l-umiyīna rasūlan min'hum yatlū ʿalayhim āyātihi wayuzakkīhim wayuʿallimuhumu l-kitāba wal-ḥik'mata wa-in kānū min qablu lafī ḍalālin mubīni It is He who raised a mes-senger, among the people who had no Scripture, to recite His revelations to them, to make them grow spiritually and teach them the Scripture and wisdom––before that they were clearly astray––
3 وَءَاخَرِینَ مِنۡهُمۡ لَمَّا یَلۡحَقُوا۟ بِهِمۡۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ۝٣ waākharīna min'hum lammā yalḥaqū bihim wahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīm to them and others yet to join them. He is the Almighty, the Wise
4 ذَ ٰلِكَ فَضۡلُ ٱللَّهِ یُؤۡتِیهِ مَن یَشَاۤءُۚ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو ٱلۡفَضۡلِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٤ dhālika faḍlu l-lahi yu'tīhi man yashāu wal-lahu dhū l-faḍli l-ʿaẓīm such is God’s favour that He grants it to whoever He will; God’s favour is immense 5 مَثَلُ ٱلَّذِینَ حُمِّلُوا۟ ٱلتَّوۡرَىٰةَ ثُمَّ لَمۡ یَحۡمِلُوهَا كَمَثَلِ ٱلۡحِمَارِ یَحۡمِلُ أَسۡفَارَۢاۚ بِئۡسَ مَثَلُ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا یَهۡدِی ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٥ mathalu alladhīna ḥummilū l-tawrāta thumma lam yaḥmilūhā kamathali l-ḥimāri yaḥmilu asfāran bi'sa mathalu l-qawmi alladhīna kadhabū biāyāti l-lahi wal-lahu lā yahdī l-qawma l-ẓālimīn Those who have been charged to obey the Torah, but do not do so, are like asses carrying books: how base such people are who disobey God’s revelations! God does not guide people who do wrong 6 قُلۡ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ هَادُوۤا۟ إِن زَعَمۡتُمۡ أَنَّكُمۡ أَوۡلِیَاۤءُ لِلَّهِ مِن دُونِ ٱلنَّاسِ فَتَمَنَّوُا۟ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٦ qul yāayyuhā alladhīna hādū in zaʿamtum annakum awliyāu lillahi min dūni l-nāsi fatamannawū l-mawta in kuntum ṣādiqīn Say [Prophet], ‘You who follow the Jewish faith, if you truly claim that out of all people you alone are friends of God, then you should be hoping for death.’ 7 وَلَا یَتَمَنَّوۡنَهُۥۤ أَبَدَۢا بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ أَیۡدِیهِمۡۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِیمُۢ بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٧ walā yatamannawnahu abadan bimā qaddamat aydīhim wal-lahu ʿalīmun bil-ẓālimīn But because of what they have stored up for themselves with their own hands they would never hope for death––God knows the wrongdoers very well––
