Verse 68:18 in Context

14 أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالࣲ وَبَنِینَ ۝١٤ An kana tha malin wabaneena Just because he has wealth and sons 15 إِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِ ءَایَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِیرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٥ idhā tut'lā ʿalayhi āyātunā qāla asāṭīru l-awalīn when our revelations are recited to him, he says, ‘These are just ancient fables.’ 16 سَنَسِمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلۡخُرۡطُومِ ۝١٦ sanasimuhu ʿalā l-khur'ṭūm We shall brand him on the snout 17 إِنَّا بَلَوۡنَـٰهُمۡ كَمَا بَلَوۡنَاۤ أَصۡحَـٰبَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ إِذۡ أَقۡسَمُوا۟ لَیَصۡرِمُنَّهَا مُصۡبِحِینَ ۝١٧ innā balawnāhum kamā balawnā aṣḥāba l-janati idh aqsamū layaṣrimunnahā muṣ'biḥīn We have tried them as We tried the owners of a certain garden, who swore that they would harvest its fruits in the mornin
18 وَلَا یَسۡتَثۡنُونَ ۝١٨ walā yastathnūn and made no allowance [for the Will of God]
19 فَطَافَ عَلَیۡهَا طَاۤىِٕفࣱ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمۡ نَاۤىِٕمُونَ ۝١٩ faṭāfa ʿalayhā ṭāifun min rabbika wahum nāimūn a disaster from your Lord struck the garden as they slep 20 فَأَصۡبَحَتۡ كَٱلصَّرِیمِ ۝٢٠ fa-aṣbaḥat kal-ṣarīm and by morning it was stripped bare, a desolate land 21 فَتَنَادَوۡا۟ مُصۡبِحِینَ ۝٢١ fatanādaw muṣ'biḥīn Still they called each other at daybreak 22 أَنِ ٱغۡدُوا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرۡثِكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰرِمِینَ ۝٢٢ ani igh'dū ʿalā ḥarthikum in kuntum ṣārimīn ‘Go early to your field if you wish to gather all its fruits,’
