18 وَلَا یَسۡتَثۡنُونَ ۝١٨ walā yastathnūn and made no allowance [for the Will of God] 19 فَطَافَ عَلَیۡهَا طَاۤىِٕفࣱ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمۡ نَاۤىِٕمُونَ ۝١٩ faṭāfa ʿalayhā ṭāifun min rabbika wahum nāimūn a disaster from your Lord struck the garden as they slep 20 فَأَصۡبَحَتۡ كَٱلصَّرِیمِ ۝٢٠ fa-aṣbaḥat kal-ṣarīm and by morning it was stripped bare, a desolate land 21 فَتَنَادَوۡا۟ مُصۡبِحِینَ ۝٢١ fatanādaw muṣ'biḥīn Still they called each other at daybreak
22 أَنِ ٱغۡدُوا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرۡثِكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰرِمِینَ ۝٢٢ ani igh'dū ʿalā ḥarthikum in kuntum ṣārimīn ‘Go early to your field if you wish to gather all its fruits,’
23 فَٱنطَلَقُوا۟ وَهُمۡ یَتَخَـٰفَتُونَ ۝٢٣ fa-inṭalaqū wahum yatakhāfatūn and went off, whispering 24 أَن لَّا یَدۡخُلَنَّهَا ٱلۡیَوۡمَ عَلَیۡكُم مِّسۡكِینࣱ ۝٢٤ an lā yadkhulannahā l-yawma ʿalaykum mis'kīnu ‘Make sure no poor person enters the garden today!’–– 25 وَغَدَوۡا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرۡدࣲ قَـٰدِرِینَ ۝٢٥ waghadaw ʿalā ḥardin qādirīn they left early, bent on their purpose 26 فَلَمَّا رَأَوۡهَا قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّا لَضَاۤلُّونَ ۝٢٦ falammā ra-awhā qālū innā laḍāllūn but when they saw the garden, they said, ‘We must have lost our way
