16
نَزَّاعَةࣰ لِّلشَّوَىٰ ١٦
nazzāʿatan lilshaw
that strips away the skin
17
تَدۡعُوا۟ مَنۡ أَدۡبَرَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ١٧
tadʿū man adbara watawall
and it will claim everyone who rejects the truth, turns away
18
وَجَمَعَ فَأَوۡعَىٰۤ ١٨
wajamaʿa fa-awʿ
amasses wealth and hoards it
19
۞ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا ١٩
inna l-insāna khuliqa halūʿa
Man was truly created anxious
20
إِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ جَزُوعࣰا ٢٠
idhā massahu l-sharu jazūʿa
he is fretful when misfortune touches him
21
وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلۡخَیۡرُ مَنُوعًا ٢١
wa-idhā massahu l-khayru manūʿa
but tight-fisted when good fortune comes his way
22
إِلَّا ٱلۡمُصَلِّینَ ٢٢
illā l-muṣalīn
Not so those who pra
23
ٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمۡ دَاۤىِٕمُونَ ٢٣
alladhīna hum ʿalā ṣalātihim dāimūn
and are constant in their prayers
24
وَٱلَّذِینَ فِیۤ أَمۡوَ ٰلِهِمۡ حَقࣱّ مَّعۡلُومࣱ ٢٤
wa-alladhīna fī amwālihim ḥaqqun maʿlūmu
who give a due share of their wealt
