Abdel Haleem
14
Inna rabbaka labialmirsadi
Your Lord is always watchful
15
Faamma al-insanu itha ma ibtalahu rabbuhu faakramahu wanaAAAAamahu fayaqoolu rabbee akramani
[The nature of] man is that, when his Lord tries him through honour and blessings, he says, ‘My Lord has honoured me,’
16
Waamma itha ma ibtalahu faqadara AAalayhi rizqahu fayaqoolu rabbee ahanani
but when He tries him through the restriction of his provision, he says, ‘My Lord has humiliated me.’
17
Kalla bal la tukrimoona alyateema
No indeed! You [people] do not honour orphans
18
Wala tahaddoona AAala taAAami almiskeeni
you do not urge one another to feed the poor
19
Wata/kuloona altturatha aklan lamman
you consume inheritance greedily
20
Watuhibboona almala hubban jamman
and you love wealth with a passion
21
Kalla itha dukkati al-ardu dakkan dakkan
No indeed! When the earth is pounded to dust, pounded and pounded
22
Wajaa rabbuka waalmalaku saffan saffan
when your Lord comes with the angels, rank upon rank
